Chapter 28: Tattoo

Cecilia and Bruce felt shivers run down their spine as they saw Steven staring at them from behind.

‘Why is Steven here? No, how does he know I’m Riane?’

Cecilia was thinking rapidly, calming herself down.

"Mr. Lawrence, are you also one of Riane’s fans? Sadly, I’m not Riane. However, since we’re both her fans, I could pay for your head examination."

Steven stared at her. He was provoking her on purpose, hoping he could see any form of guilt in her eyes. Unfortunately, there was none to be found.

His eyes trailed downward. Cecilia had just showered and was wearing a long lace nightgown, while her scattered hair conveniently covered her collarbone.

He observed her barely visible collarbone, her fair skin glowing while she exuded a unique gardenia scent.

‘Is there a butterfly tattoo on her collarbone?’

Steven thought to himself, not noticing how long he had been staring at her.

Cecilia frowned slightly from his gaze as she stepped back to evade it. Bruce came forward, pulling her behind him.

In an instant, Steven recomposed himself.

Well... That was a bit awkward.

Bruce extended his hand.

"Mr. Lawrence, I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m Bruce Cook."

Steven frowned slightly before shaking hands with Bruce.

"Steven Lawrence."

After speaking, he looked at Cecilia behind Bruce and politely inquired.

"Miss Morrison, I have something to ask you, but..."

He glanced at Bruce.

"Do you mind?"

Bruce didn’t want to step aside, but Cecilia patted his shoulder.

"Don’t worry, he won’t do anything to me. Aren’t you confident in my skills?"

He recalled her ranks in taekwondo, Sanda, and mixed martial arts. Thus, he smiled and moved aside.

Seeing their subtle understanding of each other, Steven felt even more uncomfortable.

However, he kept this displeasure to himself.

‘Cecilia’s affair with Bruce is irrelevant to me. I didn’t want to be involved with her to begin with; if she finds a new target, that would be better for me.’

Thinking this, he felt a bit more at ease.

Cecilia stepped out and asked, "What is it?"

"Do you have a butterfly tattoo on your collarbone?"

She understood now. She must have accidentally displayed Riane’s signature butterfly tattoo, so it made Steven suspicious.

‘But what if I just don’t admit it?’

Just as she thought of that, Bruce interrupted her again.

He put a hand on her shoulder, speaking with a gentle but challenging tone.

"Let me answer that. Cecilia is my girlfriend. Her tattoo is her privacy, so I hope you can respect that."

Cecilia wasn’t surprised by Bruce’s words. She knew he was just helping her to not answer. If this would stop Steven from pestering her, then it would be for the better.

So, she didn’t deny anything when Steven looked at her questioningly. Instead, she only shrugged indifferently.

Meanwhile, Zane couldn’t stand it anymore.

"Miss Morrison, why are you approaching Mr. Lawrence if you have a boyfriend? Do you know your actions could make Mr. Lawrence..."

Steven interrupted Zane with a dark look.

"That’s enough; we’re leaving."

Then, they both left.

Bruce released his hand from Cecilia’s shoulder.

"Earlier, I only said you’re my girlfriend because..."

Cecilia glanced at the time, then smiled and patted his shoulders.

"Don’t worry, I know you were helping me out. Thanks a lot."

"Anyway, I need to sleep with Emma now, so you should get some rest as well. Let’s stay in touch!"

Bruce’s eyes were disappointed for a moment before he returned to his gentle demeanor.

"Alright, goodnight then."

At the hotel entrance, Steven was sitting inside the car with a grim face. Zane didn’t even dare to make a sound from the driver’s seat.

‘This woman actually dared to fool around with me!’

Realizing the tense atmosphere, Zane spoke up.

"We thought she could be Riane, but she was clearly not. There was no way such a fickle woman would write such heartfelt songs!"

Steven’s mind kept repeating the image of Bruce holding Cecilia’s shoulder.

His heart was in turmoil, but he didn’t know why.

He could only blame this feeling on his own blunder.

"What she does is none of my business."

Zane stopped talking and simply turned some music on, skillfully playing Riane’s songs.

Steven closed his eyes as he listened to the songs, quietly enjoying them.

As the night darkened, Cecilia hugged Alex and fell asleep. Alex’s eyes flew open, tiptoeing to the bathroom and opening his watch.

[Sis, is Bruce Mommy’s boyfriend?]

On the other hand, Emma was enjoying her cartoons while Steven wasn’t around. When she read the message, she got excited.

[Is Uncle Bruce back in town?]

[Answer me first.]

[Nope, he’s Mommy’s good friend~ I really like him~]

In the bathroom, Alex’s dark expression resembled Steven’s face whenever he was drinking.

[That’s good to know, but you can’t be fond of him.]

[Alright, alright. I only like Brother the most.]

Only then did Alex smile.

[Mommy’s going to be shooting for a show in three days, so be sure to arrange Dad’s schedule accordingly. We have to work hard.]

[Don’t worry!]

After that, Alex went back to the room. He opened Cecilia’s computer, deleted the record of sending out the demo, and secretly ordered something.

‘Dad and Mommy, get ready to get married soon!’
