Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 38: New Plan
Chapter 38: New Plan
Alex patted his head, looking helpless.
It seemed like they couldn’t hide this from Ethan any longer.
He decided to just come clean and said, "It’s not what you’re thinking of, Uncle. This is Emma, my twin sister."
Ethan was even more surprised at this news. After all, he had never heard of Alex having a sister.
So, Alex went on to explain his and Emma’s backstory in detail to Ethan, who only tried to accept the truth after wolfing down the two pieces of cake in front of him.
That meant he had a little niece; this was such great news. He needed to tell Steven immediately!
"Then I need to tell Big Brother as soon as possible!"
Just as he was about to go, Alex stopped him.
"You can’t."
"Why?" Ethan was puzzled.
Alex hesitated.
Emma suddenly reached over and hugged Ethan.
"Uncle~ you’re so handsome~"
Oh dear, that "Uncle" seemed to have struck Ethan right in the heart.
He had always dreamed of having a cute niece; daughters were so much more adorable than Alex, that little iceberg.
"Uncle, could you not tell Daddy~"
Ethan squinted his eyes as he replied, "Well... wait, no way!"
He ruthlessly pushed Emma away. There was no way he could possibly hide something this big from Steven; if Steven found out about this later, he would be in big trouble!
Emma had also run out of options by now. However, Alex suddenly broke into a sly smile.
His smile was just like Steven’s, making people feel uneasy.
Ethan had a bad feeling in his gut.
"Uncle, you haven’t gotten your master’s degree yet, right?"
Ethan hurriedly covered Alex’s mouth.
"Shh, don’t talk nonsense!"
Steven had sent him to a top domestic school to pursue a master’s degree in management. However, he indulged in playing music so much that when he wanted to focus on his studies, his mentor had already blacklisted him. He had to beg and plead with his mentor not to report this matter to Steven. After that, they made a deal that if he completed his project this year, he would receive his degree certificate by next year.
To avoid Steven’s suspicion, he had lied and claimed to have already graduated.
Only the gods, the earth, the mentor, and he knew about this. So how did this little rascal know?
Alex pushed Ethan’s hand down, speaking lightly.
"Hacking into your computer is as easy as drinking water for me."
Ethan sighed, realizing he had forgotten that Alex was a genius at computers.
He offered, "Tell me, what do you want?"
Alex extended his little hand and replied, "As long as you don’t tell Dad about my sister, I won’t tell him about your graduation."
Ethan thought for a while as if he was making a big decision. Then, he shook hands with Alex.
"Deal!"
Either way, Steven would inevitably find out; it was better to be a bit later than sooner.
Emma also put her little hand on top of theirs.
"Yay!"
After they split up, Emma went back to the hotel with the sketches.
Before leaving, she sent a message to her mom.
[Mommy, I’ll head back to the hotel first.]
Cecilia, who was still downstairs looking for her, was puzzled by her message. However, it seemed like she should be returning by now as well. After bidding goodbye to Elena and James upstairs, she turned to leave.
Steven suddenly followed her.
"Mr. Lawrence, is there something you need?"
Steven had noticed how distracted she seemed throughout the dinner. Plus, Marianne still needed her, so he did something out of character. "I have a car. I can have Zane drive you back."
When he saw the shock and distance in her eyes, he changed back to his usual indifference.
"Don’t forget your promise."
After saying that, he turned and left.
Cecilia was confused.
She couldn’t figure out what was going through his mind. She shook her head, ready to leave when she suddenly got a message.
[Miss Morrison, could we discuss the talent show program tonight? - Steven Lawrence.]
She frowned. This man again?
He hadn’t said a word when they were together just now, but all of a sudden, he sent her a message.
How weird.
But considering she genuinely needed his help—especially with the ongoing mess because of the anonymous e-mails—she figured she might as well let him assist in finding clues about his son.
That evening, at the Lawrence mansion.
Cecilia was about to ring the doorbell, but the door suddenly swung open.
She walked in with curiosity, but the living room was pitch dark.
There was only the aroma of a candle on the table, accompanied by its faint glow.
Was nobody at home? Or did he trick her?
Just as she was about to leave, all the lights suddenly flickered on. She looked up to see Steven, fresh out of the shower and stepping out of the bathroom.
