Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 188 - 159: Audience at the Demon God Hall, Disturbances Arise (2)
Everyone was carefully surveying their surroundings.
As all the Dragon Species advanced, they finally saw it: the main hall at the highest peak of the Demon Beast Mountain Range. It stood on a vast, snow-white plaza at the foot of the Divine Hall’s thousand-meter-tall pillars.
All the Dragon Species saw him.
Right there, atop the Divine Hall’s cliff, a terrifying Giant Dragon stood with its eyes closed.
Its terrifying size surpassed that of most Saint Tier Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants.
However, compared to the three Saint Tier Sea Beast Dragon Species from the Sea Race, it actually fell a bit short.
The massive size of the Sea Beast Dragon Species was an indisputable fact.
But now was not the time to compare sizes.
Because, the moment all the Dragon Species laid eyes on the Crystal Giant Dragon, whose body seemed to be made of crystal, they all felt a powerful thrumming in their Bloodlines.
"There’s no mistake!!!"
"This sensation... it’s definitely from the Pure-blooded Dragon Clan!"
A jolt went through all the Dragon Species, and Silver Dragon Camilla, in particular, led the members of the Silver Dragon Lambert Family in a swift charge toward the plaza.
"Silver Dragon Camilla greets Your Esteemed Highness!!!"
Silver Dragon Camilla was overcome with emotion. Not giving the other Dragon Species time to react, she landed on the plaza and immediately prostrated herself in Lince’s direction. With tears welling in her eyes, she cried out!
"Angelina of the Silver Dragon Race pays her respects, Your Highness."
"Silver Dragon Edie pays her respects, Your Highness..."
One by one, every last one of the fifteen members of the Lambert Family who had made the journey emotionally followed suit, paying their respects to Lince.
Seeing this, many of the other Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants quickly descended to the plaza.
The five great Dragon Descendant Clans of the Human Race were the swiftest among them. Many of their Dragon Descendants immediately dropped to one knee, expressing their utmost reverence.
Of course, the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants from the Sea Race and Sea Beasts who were below Saint Tier also immediately paid their respects to Lince.
However, among the Saint Tiers, quite a few Dragon Species did not immediately kneel and bow.
Among the eleven Saint Tiers from the Sea Race, six remained standing, merely offering a few words of superficial acknowledgment.
Meanwhile, the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants from the Elf Race didn’t even touch the ground.
They simply hovered over the plaza, level with Lince, and offered a cupped-fist salute in his direction.
’A thousand thoughts raced through the minds of these Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants.’
’Although they were shocked by the actual appearance of a member of the Pure-blooded Dragon Clan, they couldn’t bring themselves to swallow their pride and bow to Lince, who didn’t seem particularly powerful.’
Each served their own master. These individuals, unwilling to lower themselves, were clearly the ones who had no intention of submitting to Dragon Island.
’But this was all within my expectations,’ Lince thought.
After all, even back when the Dragon Race was still present, many of the continent’s Dragon Species had never submitted to them.
Besides, the Dragon Race had never demanded their submission.
Therefore, strictly speaking, this wasn’t considered disrespectful.
At the very least, all of them—including the Elven Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants—had offered verbal salutations to Lince.
’But that was enough!’
Lince slowly opened his eyes.
He looked down at the plaza, at the Dragon Species who had pledged their allegiance and shown him the highest courtesy.
Of the eighteen Saint Tier Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants, the attitudes of eight of the Dragon Species showed they had submitted to Lince immediately.
As for those who doubted Lince’s identity?
There were none. Not a single one.
Because anyone who wasn’t a complete fool knew that if there were any issues with Lince’s identity, the Saint Tier Magical Beasts of the Demon Beast Mountain Range would never have allowed him to so brazenly occupy the Demon God Hall and command the other Demon Beasts.
Size and strength weren’t everything.
Identity was the key, and the sensation from their Dragon Blood was impossible to fake.
The proof was plain to see: even the Saint Tier Sea Beast Snake Dragon, a full size larger than Lince, was currently prostrated on the ground.
To the ancient Sub-dragon Species, especially those who had been to Dragon Island, Lince’s strength was irrelevant. His pure blood was all that mattered.
The five Saint Tier representatives sent by the five great empires of the Sea Race did not offer the highest form of respect.
Neither did the Black Dragon from the Beastman Empire.
The same was true for the four Saint Tier Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants from the Elf Race.
From this, Lince understood.
’It seems the dragonkin among the Human Race and the Beastman Empire are in the worst predicament on the continent.’
’The Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants of the Sea Race and the Elf Race must be living quite comfortably. Otherwise, they would have immediately shown their willingness to submit to the Dragon Race.’
’Aren’t they afraid of dying of old age? Or are they waiting for me to declare the purpose of the Dragon Race’s return before they decide whether to submit?’
’Interesting.’
Lince calmly swept his gaze over all the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants.
Finally, under the watchful eyes of the assembled Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants, he slowly began to speak:
"Very good. The fact that you Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants have come is commendable."
"It shows that after all these years, the scattered blood of the Dragon Race across the continent has not yet forgotten Dragon Island or the Dragon Race itself."
As he spoke, Lince’s gaze swept over the six standing Saint Tier Dragon Species and the four hovering Saint Tiers of the Elf Race, a faint, unreadable smile on his lips.
The Saint Tier Dragon Species who met his gaze all felt a jolt of alarm, inexplicably sensing immense pressure.
The reputation of the Dragon Race wasn’t just an empty title.
Facing a member of the Pure-blooded Dragon Clan like Lince, these Saint Tiers were deeply unsettled.
But even when facing a member of the Pure-blooded Dragon Clan, an Elf Dragon from the Elven contingent was the first to speak, his voice heavy as he met Lince’s indifferent gaze.
"Your Highness jests!"
"We, the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants who carry the blood of the Dragon Race, would never dare to forget its glory and greatness!"
"The very fact that we have come to seek an audience with Your Highness today is the greatest proof of that."
"We are overjoyed to witness Your Highness’s return. However, please forgive our impudence, but does your return signify the return of the entire Dragon Race?"
"Furthermore, we ask that Your Highness inform us of the important matter for which you have summoned us."
What audacity!
The moment the Elf Dragon finished speaking, Silver Dragon Camilla was the first to erupt in fury!
"What? Is His Highness’s return not a momentous occasion in itself? Are we, who carry their blood, not supposed to come and pay our respects?"
"Besides, is the return of the Dragon Race something an old thing like you has any right to question?"
The Silver Dragon glared furiously at the Elf Dragon.
Meanwhile, the enormous Sea Beast Snake Dragon also lifted its head, its cold gaze fixed on the Elven contingent.
Tension flared in an instant.
The five Saint Tiers from the Sea Race and the Black Dragon unconsciously took a few steps back, afraid that blood might soon be spilled on them.
At the same time, these onlookers were filled with a grudging admiration.
’The Elf Race really lives up to its name. That Elf Dragon has some serious nerve.’
’Does he always have to be so blunt?’
An offense like that could be taken as either a major or minor slight.
A single word from Lince would determine whether the Elf Dragon was guilty of offending the Dragon Race.
In response to this, however, Lince suddenly broke into a smile.
"It is only natural that each dragon has its own ambitions."
"Everyone, relax. And yes, I did summon you today for an important matter."
"But before we get to that... I think I need a good stretch. So, I’ll take this opportunity to show you scattered remnants what it truly means to be of the Dragon Race."
"Given the attitude of the Elven bloodline, I believe you can return from whence you came after you’ve witnessed the ceremony."
With that, Lince looked coolly at the four Saint Tiers from the Elf Race.
’Then, he chose to claim his Growth Level reward.’
’The buff from the Divine Descent special effect was essential. I’m even more eager to see the changes that will come with reaching Tier Nine,’ Lince thought.
’As for the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants of the Elf Race, I couldn’t care less about them anymore.’
’I have plenty of ways to make them serve as cannon fodder in the Karte World later on!’
’Just like the Demon Beasts that had backstabbed Amos.’
’I will squeeze every last drop of value from them. That is all.’
