Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Change Strategy and Take the Initiative

Fang Jie looked into the distance and happened to see a Lizardman fall to the ground.

Yet this Lizardman was not dead before other Snake-men saw it and came forward to tear it into pieces. Then, right before these people’s eyes, they consumed part of it as food.

Some Desert Lizardmen watched angrily, as if flames could burst forth, but no one dared to make a move.

Fang Jie seemed to understand something, "No wonder, the food at Rock Oasis is no longer sufficient to support so many people. If they leave the Rock Oasis, the food along the way would definitely not be enough for them."

These tribes usually did not store much food. In such a place, they could not last long.

"Probably many people have regretted coming here by now, but they just can’t escape," he said.

Upon hearing this, Fang Hao immediately responded, "I didn’t expect this, I viewed it all through the experience of the Undead. Now, we must change our strategy."

All this time, Fang Hao realized he had never truly understood the various issues of living beings.

"Food, what’s that? For the Undead, it’s completely different. I’m not like Ganier, who was transformed; I was born a Skeleton Hero and do not understand the survival pattern of living beings."

"Immediately tell Cosette and Dorola to change plans and attack simultaneously in one hour. Also, have both of them prepare a pursuit team to prevent those guys from escaping separately."

Escape collectively was impossible since food would not permit it, but perhaps they could still manage to disperse.

This demanded not a unified chase in one direction but rather a scattering.

"This method of command is really troublesome." Fang Jie watched the Skeleton Hero ride the Mechanical Flying Eagle away, feeling somewhat helpless. He began to consider a solution for this issue.

"Perhaps, I should introduce semaphore. Though I don’t know it, the general idea is simple enough; I might as well create my own set."

However, now was obviously not the time to consider these things, as an hour passed quickly. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Almost simultaneously, from different directions, the Undead Formation began to advance. Leading the charge were the Desert Lizardmen’s squads, each drawn from their respective tribes, representing all their Combat Power.

Including some who were not yet fully grown, some elderly, and some women, all went to the battlefield.

But the Skeletons did not care about these distinctions. Before even coming close, the Skeleton Shooters began their attack.

The battle up front quickly intensified as both sides began to fight desperately.

Due to the large number of people in the squad, what happened upfront might not even be noticed by those at the rear, and it was unknown how long it would take to reach their position.

But clearly, the Undead could not afford to give them time to acclimate; this side needed to disrupt the enemy’s formation.

Under Fang Hao’s command, a new tactic emerged.

The Death Lobster Men Fang Jie had brought, though being of Black Iron Level was somewhat wasteful,

held two large torches in their hands and, lowering their heads to move on four legs, began to accelerate forward. As they moved forward, they would spray a large amount of liquid from the pores on their sides.

The liquid, upon meeting the flames from the torches above, ignited. As there were many Desert Snake-men and Desert Lizardmen densely packed, flames immediately caught onto them. Undead feared neither death nor burns, but these living beings did.

With the flames burning, no one dared to approach. Even if some did, only individuals at the Black Iron Level could, and they truly couldn’t damage the Death Lobster Men. This fire began to spread rapidly.

Following them were the legions of White Bone Cavalry at Black Body Level, charging forward.

"I can’t take it anymore, I’m out, neither side wants us to live."

Finally, a tribe collapsed. They were a relatively small tribe and had been assigned to the front,

resulting in more than half of their fighting-capable members dying on the spot. In this situation, who would protect their children?

Hoping that other tribes would take them in was a joke—they didn’t even have enough food themselves.

Even tribes that lacked population would often devour other tribes and primarily needed the young and able. For reproduction, it was their women they needed, not their children.

Children would consume more food and yet were of little use—who would need them?

Thinking of their tribe being destroyed, they began to rebel. Disregarding orders, they ran toward the rear.

The Desert Snake-men, designated as supervisors, intended to stop them but soon saw them being wiped out by the Undead attacks. Those at the rear were too far away to intervene effectively.

As the Undead deliberately let these rebels escape, these rebellious Desert Lizardmen continued to run to the rear. As they fled, many other tribes also started to crumble mentally and followed suit.

In just a short moment, the front lines completely collapsed. Some fled, and others tried to fight.

Those who attempted to fight suffered heavy casualties, while more and more of those who fled kept moving to the rear.

This caused a vicious cycle, with an increasing number of people fleeing. Towards the end, Desert Lizardmen started to flee without even engaging the Undead Army.

With more and more Desert Lizardmen escaping, the Desert Snake-men also stopped holding out.

The largest Snake-man Tribe was not their own—they didn’t want to die. Not to mention, the Desert Snake-men were more intellectually agile than the Desert Lizardmen and even less inclined to die.

Thus, in less than two hours, the entire force showed signs of a massive rout.

With some Mechanical Flying Eagles continually dropping incendiary bombs from above, their ranks became even more disorderly. Before they had time to react, this chaos was about to spread to the Rock Oasis.

The Snake-man Leader, who initially didn’t want the war to harm the Rock Oasis, had deployed all his troops outside.

Trying to keep the battle away from the Oasis, his direct lineage remained in the innermost ring, aiming to wear down the Undead with others first, and then, whether they would fight or flee was yet to be decided.

Even if they decided to flee, they would leave behind the maximum number of troops for a chance to rise again.

But he hadn’t expected that these gathered troops would collapse entirely. His own men resisted, and they dared to attack back, turning these into enemies and thus aiding the Undead.

By the time the Snake-man Leader realized this, it was too late.
