80 -80: Particularly Ferocious

Julia Land had just slapped Noah Quarter across the face when her phone rang.

It was a call from Thomas Sullivan.

She answered the phone, pushed open the safety stairwell door, and walked out, “I’m heading to the entrance now to wait for you.”

After hanging up, she called Edward Fields to have the car brought to the entrance.

Thomas Sullivan walked out of the hotel, and Edward Fields opened the car door for him.

He bent down to sit inside and let out a comfortable sigh, “Work’s done.”

He pulled off his tie, tossed it carelessly onto the seat, and his gaze landed on Julia Land’s arm.

There was an obvious red mark on her arm.

“What happened to your arm?”

Julia Land glanced at her arm, “It’s nothing.”

Thomas Sullivan raised an eyebrow but didn’t pry further, “Edward, head over to Bella’s place.”

Edward was driving and responded with an okay.

“Bella mentioned that last time you went shopping with her, you also used your boyfriend’s card to buy clothes worth millions.”

“Uh-huh, so?”

Julia Land was busy sending a message to James Thompson to arrange dinner that evening.

Hearing Thomas Sullivan’s words, she looked up at him with puzzlement.

That inadvertent glance was quite alluring.

Thomas Sullivan silently cursed himself for his fate, having known better than to hire a man as a secretary.

“Bella hinted to me that I’m not generous enough,” Thomas Sullivan abruptly changed the subject, “Next time I’ll be wary of letting you accompany my lover shopping.”

“Edward, stop at the convenience store up ahead.”

The car stopped.

Thomas Sullivan turned to Julia Land, “Secretary Land, go buy something for me.”

He turned his phone sideways to show her a picture.

Julia Land glared at him, “Buy it yourself.”

The bastard, actually asking her to buy a…what.

“Am I the boss, or are you the boss?”

Bastard Thomas Sullivan didn’t feel this was exploiting an employee at all.

Julia Land took a deep breath, her smile beaming, “Sure, wait here.”

“Buy two boxes, no, two won’t be enough, buy…”

Thomas Sullivan hadn’t finished his sentence when the car door closed.

He muttered, “Secretary Land, you’ve really got an attitude, but only I, the boss, don’t fuss about it.”

Edward Fields found it amusing, “That’s because you’re broad-minded, boss.”

Julia Land entered the convenience store with a clear goal, to buy what her boss requested.

She purchased ten boxes in one go.

When she checked out, she told the clerk, “Put them in two bags, five boxes per bag.”

The clerk was a young man who blushed slightly after glancing at Julia, a beautiful woman, and said, “Okay.”

By the time Julia Land returned to the car and handed one of the bags to Thomas Sullivan, fastening her seatbelt while facing away from him.

“What did you buy?”

Thomas Sullivan saw her holding another bag and asked out of curiosity.

Julia Land’s smile brightened just a bit, “I bought something just like you, of course.”

“…..”

Julia Land chuckled.

James Thompson was quite powerful with this stuff too, usually breaking one swiftly.

Seeing her bright smile, Thomas Sullivan felt his teeth ache.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Alexander Strong turned to look at Noah Quarter’s face and instructed the driver to go to the hospital.

“No need for a hospital.”

Noah Quarter looked up with those very cold eyes, indifferent about the injury to his face.

Alexander Strong was actually a bit curious about who had the nerve to hit the BOSS’s face.

“Go to Jade Gardens,” Noah Quarter spoke faintly.

Alexander Strong’s heart sank.

Jade Gardens was the marital home where Julia Land and Noah Quarter had their wedding.

Ever since the old lady passed away and Julia Land left, no one had lived there.

With the BOSS sporting such a slapped face and insisting on going to Jade Gardens, Alexander Strong’s mind instantly went to Julia Land.

He had a premonition; it was Julia who had done it.

The car stopped in front of Jade Gardens.

The driver got out to open the door.

Noah Quarter sat inside the car, turning his head to look at the great gates of Jade Gardens, but he made no move to get out.

Leaves blanketed the ground, and life seemed to have vanished from this place, leaving behind a desolate air.

“Close the door, let’s head back to Imperial View Gardens.”

The driver shut the door.

This trip had been somewhat dangerous.

Alexander Strong could only secretly hope that nothing would spiral out of control afterward.

**

Arabella Shaw was in a good mood today, so she came home early.

She played with her daughter in the living room.

Noah entered, and she happily stood up and walked over, only to be startled by the scratch on his face, “How did you get hurt?”

“Housekeeper, bring the medical kit.”

“It’s unnecessary, it’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

He finished speaking and strode upstairs.

Arabella followed Noah to the bedroom.

While Noah was taking a shower with his clothes in the bathroom, Arabella glanced in.

She took out her phone, stepped out of the bedroom, and called Alexander Strong.

As soon as the call connected, she got straight to the point, “Secretary Strong, I want to ask you, who hit Noah?”

Alexander had anticipated Arabella would call to ask about this, “Sorry, Miss Shaw, I don’t know either.”

Arabella thought Alexander was deliberately keeping it from her.

Her gaze turned slightly cold, but her speech remained extremely polite, “Where did you go today?

Can you tell me?”

Alexander paused for a moment, his mind suddenly flashing to Julia Land.

The last incident at the Dreamy Club involved Julia striking Noah’s face.

“Secretary Strong?

Is this also something you can’t tell me?”

Arabella’s voice reminded Alexander again that he had not yet answered the question.

“We went to a technology summit.”

There was no need to hide this schedule, as the news would report it.

“Thank you.”

Arabella hung up the phone and immediately searched online for news about today’s technology summit.

In the article, she saw Julia, dressed in a white shirt and skirt, looking strikingly beautiful.

Julia stood next to Thomas Sullivan.

As Arabella scrolled through the photos, she then saw Noah and Alexander.

The housekeeper brought the medical kit upstairs, catching a glimpse of the mistress’s icy expression; he quickly lowered his gaze and approached.

“Give me the medical kit.”

Arabella took the kit, pushed open the bedroom door, and walked in.

Noah had just finished showering.

She took his hand, forcefully pulling him over to the couch, “Come here, I’ll apply the medicine for you.”

Noah massaged his forehead, “It’s nothing, it will heal in a couple of days.”

Arabella shook her head, opened the medical kit, and took out the wound ointment, “No, it needs medicine.

What wild cat has scratched your face?”

She dipped a cotton swab into the medicine and glared at Noah, “Don’t tell me this wild cat is some great beauty?”

He didn’t respond to the question.

Arabella frowned, finished applying the medicine, then straddled Noah’s lap, examining him closely, “Was it Julia?”

Noah pinched her waist, lifted her so she could sit properly, “It wasn’t, I am going to see Bella.”

Arabella watched his retreating figure leave the bedroom, gripping the cotton swab in her hand and biting her red lips.

A scornful laugh escaped her suddenly.

It was obviously Julia!

**

Outside the Sincere Heart Community Building.

James Thompson stopped the car, turned to see Julia already asleep.

Her hand had been holding a bag, and the contents had spilled onto her skirt.

He unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned over, and picked up a box of something all too familiar.

James silently smiled.

He felt that little Julia was particularly thoughtful today.

He drove the car to a place void of streetlights.

Julia was woken by a kiss.

Awakening, she saw James open a box and tear something open.

The slow, deliberate action of tearing.

He was particularly fierce whenever he used it.

James’s voice was hoarse, “Why are you so proactive in buying this today?”
