Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 720: High Level Spell
Sensing the gravity in the youth's voice, Liriel couldn't help but ask anxiously, "Why? What makes you say that?"
She paused for a moment before stating, "If it's because of the fact that Umbra Thieves have found out about your arrival, it could be because they have spies in Ravenfell still. It doesn't necessarily mean that the Cult is involved."
"No, it's just…" Adam thought of the right words to say. He rose to his feet, beginning to pace around once again. "It's a gut feeling. I need you both to trust me on this, alright?"
Liriel and Kael glanced at each other and saw the apprehension in each other's eyes. Liriel then looked at Adam and spoke without hesitation, "We trust you."
Kael then spoke up, "So you believe that the Cult is still involved in this?"
"Yes, they always have been. From the very beginning..." Adam nodded absentmindedly.
"This feeling… this… We're being led to believe something when there's no evidence supporting it. The truth stares at us in the eye, yet we are unable to discern it."
He stopped, his eyes narrowing. He then turned to look at Kael and Liriel and solmenly said, "It's likely some high-level spell from the spiritual aspect of magic!"
"Spiritual aspect?" Liriel's eyes narrowed. "You mean from either the School of Enchantment, Divination, or Illusion?"
Adam nodded. "There are two more Schools that fall under the spiritual aspect of magic, as well as the physical aspect of magic."
This was basic knowledge that any Magus knew. Liriel nodded and named the two schools, "The School of Summoning and the School of…"
She paused, her eyes flashing with realization.
Adam finished the answer for her, "Necromancy."
Seeing the expressions of Liriel and Kael gradually worsen, he explained. "It is relatively easy for the Magi of a particular School of Magic to branch out into other schools that fall under the same aspect of magic."
He paused for a moment before continuing, "I believe what is happening now is a high-level magical spell belonging to the School of Enchantment!"
Adam also knew about the reason why he was able to realize this bizarreness when even Rank 3 Magi from Ravenfell and the Brotherhood directly involved in this matter could not.
The mysterious white lotus!
Does the lotus passively protect me from spells that encroach upon the spiritual aspect of magic? He thought to himself.
That could very well be possible since the lotus has a mysterious connection with the Spirit World.
But who cast this spell? It is such a powerful spell that even Rank 3 Magi didn't notice it! It's subtle, yet extremely terrifying!

It makes the target believe in things that aren't true and ingeniously conceals the things that are. It is definitely from the School of Enchantment!
But who cast it?
Adam's expression darkened by the moment when he thought of yet another possibility, It's the same feeling I had in Hannes City all those years ago.
Could it be that these two matters are truly connected? If so, then there's only one possible commonality between the two…
The Cult of Bones!
A chill crawled down his spine yet again as he thought of this possibility.
If this is really the case, then the Cult's schemes run far deeper than I imagined!
However, it was still his guess in the end. He had no evidence supporting it.
But he greatly trusted his instincts!
"We have to let the main forces know that they could very well be walking into a trap!" He looked at Kael and Liriel with a solemn expression.
"Do we have any method of contacting them?"
Liriel thought for a moment before shaking her head. "Yes, but not as quickly as we want. Daneli and Elrick are still back in Ravenfell, investigating any clues related to the Cult.
"And there's no one from Brotherhood with the armed forces of Ravenfell, or else we could have had an owl deliver the message instantaneously."
"Damn it!" Adam was exasperated.
"So they'll be unknowingly walking into a trap and we can't do anything about it…" Kael muttered in distress.
"No, there's still something we can do," Adam muttered as several possible solutions churned in his head.
After going through all those options, there was only one that he could rely on. Albeit, very reluctantly.
He looked at Kael and solemnly said, "Proceed as planned. Spread rumors and misinformation, sow discord, and spark a civil war between the influential Mana Liquefaction Magi of Blackshore."
Adam turned to Liriel and continued, "Prepare a secret contingency plan in case all of this goes to shit."
He paused for a moment before adding, "Also, prepare a few more disguises for all of us. Just in case."
Liriel gulped nervously. She took a few deep breaths and calmed down. This wasn't her first rodeo, after all.
"What are you planning to do?" She asked. "Do you want me or Kael to assist?"
Adam shook his head. "No, this is something that I have to do on my own. And I don't know how long I'll be gone for. Could be a minute... Could even be a week. In the meantime, I hope you two can carry out your tasks perfectly."
Both Lirirl and Kael nodded. "Leave it to us!"
"Good." Adam faintly smiled before turning around and leaving the office. "I'll be in the underground storage unit by the training pit. Unless it's absolutely important, do not disturb me."
With that said, he headed for the underground level of The Cage.
…
After several hours of preparing and carving a runic formation, Adam finally finished what he was working on.
In the underground storage unit, he stood at the center of a large and very complex formation, making sure the coordinates he had carved were correct and precise.
After cross-checking two more times, he finally nodded to himself.
He sat down cross-legged at the center of the formation. Then, he gazed at Valerian who was lying down by the entrance of the room that had already been sealed by him through rune magic.
"Val, you know the drill," he said.
"Myu! I will protect you!"
Adam then finally started weaving a long and extremely complicated set of hand seals that took him almost a minute to complete.
Following that, the runic formation on the ground lit up with a blinding light.
Then, the space above the formation was ripped open by an unseen force, and a direct portal to the Spirit World was formed.
A moment later, Adam's soul body emerged from his physical body like a ghostly apparition. Then, without hesitation, he flew through the portal.
His destination?
The Coil of Eternity!
