Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Three Monks Have No Water to Drink

Wilder and Lei An turned to look at Li Wei.

The Secret Silver Ore was right before their eyes.

Whether they could get it all depended on Li Wei.

No one else had the ability to dig through over a hundred meters of rock to get the Secret Silver Ore.

Li Wei hesitated for a moment before saying, "No problem. Leave it to me."

Wilder breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s great. We can discuss how to divide the Secret Silver Ore after we get it."

Lei An patted his chest and said, "Timo, don’t you worry. I’ll definitely protect you."

Li Wei glanced at him and said, "Thanks."

Wilder stepped back.

The Golden Anteater widened the entrance, burrowed inside, and began to dig.

Its digging speed wasn’t fast; in fact, it was rather slow.

But everyone waited with great patience.

After all, the treasure was right in front of them.

Within arm’s reach!

Li Wei discreetly glanced at Wilder and Lei An.

He observed the changes in their expressions.

Wilder was staring at the Golden Anteater, his thoughts unreadable.

Lei An periodically scanned their surroundings, voluntarily taking on the role of a lookout.

Before they knew it, the Golden Anteater was already more than halfway through.

Yet Wilder still hadn’t brought up how they would divide the Secret Silver Ore.

This made Li Wei suspect he wanted to take it all for himself.

’Otherwise, he would have mentioned it long ago.’

’We could have discussed it first.’

Wilder didn’t bring it up, and neither did Li Wei.

Seeing that neither of them was speaking, Lei An also kept quiet.

The three of them were each lost in their own thoughts.

Li Wei suddenly spoke up. "Mage Wilder, are you very familiar with Mage Allen?"

Hearing this, Wilder paused for a moment, then said, "I suppose we are. We’ve been together for nearly half a year, so we know each other reasonably well."

"When Mage Allen heard you were in danger, he was desperate to rescue you, you know," Li Wei said.

Wilder was a little surprised. "Is that so?"

Lei An nodded. "Yes, Grand Mage Allen sent everyone down here to find you, just so you could return safely."

A look of surprise crossed Wilder’s face.

Once he recovered, he realized why Allen was so concerned about him.

’It definitely wasn’t because of their friendship.’

’They weren’t nearly that close.’

Li Wei looked at Lei An and asked, "Did Mage Allen come down?"

Lei An shook his head. "I’m not sure."

"When I came down, Grand Mage Allen was still up top. I don’t know if he came in afterward."

The three of them made small talk, passing the time.

Li Wei’s mind stirred as he sensed a faint fluctuation of shadow energy.

He didn’t turn to look.

’Someone else is here, but they haven’t shown themselves yet.’

Li Wei wasn’t worried; their discovery was only a matter of time.

After all, the noise from the Golden Anteater’s digging was too loud.

It would easily attract others.

After a long while, the Golden Anteater finally broke through the rock wall.

BANG!

Dirt tumbled down. PLOP!

SPLASH!

A churning underground river flowed below. The falling rocks and dirt were instantly swept away, vanishing from sight.

The Golden Anteater crawled out and clung to the cliff face.

The three men walked to the edge of the opening.

They saw the Secret Silver Ore lodged in a crevice on the opposite wall, saved from falling into the underground river.

A difficult problem now lay before them: how to get across?

None of them could fly.

Wilder said, "As it happens, I have a Wind Elf Wings Magic Scroll. I can fly over and get the Secret Silver Ore."

As he spoke, he looked at the other two, seeking their opinion.

Li Wei waved his hand. "Don’t look at me. I can’t get across."

"The Golden Anteater’s tongue isn’t that long, and even if it were, it couldn’t move such a large piece of ore."

Lei An said, "Then we’ll leave it to you, Mage Wilder. We’ll both stay here."

Wilder smiled. "Don’t worry, I won’t take it all for myself."

With that, he unfurled the Magic Scroll.

A vortex of cyan Wind Elements gathered behind Wilder, forming a pair of Wind Elf Wings. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Wilder flew toward the opposite bank.

Halfway across, a heavy whoosh suddenly came from behind him.

BANG!

Wilder quickly turned his head and saw a black shadow rushing toward him.

Before he could react, he was sent flying.

The Magic Shield on his body flared with Magic Radiance, blocking the attack.

Wilder’s body tumbled through the air, and he nearly fell into the underground river.

His feet dipped into the water before he managed to stabilize himself and fly up again.

"Damn it! Lei An!"

SPLASH!

Hearing the sound of something falling into the water, Wilder looked down.

He saw a dark figure fall from the opening into the underground river, where it was swept away by the churning current and disappeared.

Only Lei An remained at the entrance of the tunnel.

A cold glint flashed in Wilder’s eyes.

’Timo has fallen into the river. He’s probably done for.’

’The man was too foolish.’

’As a Summoner, he didn’t even keep his Summoned Beast by his side, choosing instead to trust strangers.’

’His death is no great loss.’

"Lei An, what about your Knight’s code?" Wilder demanded.

He sneered mockingly, "Is this how you treat your savior? You killed him with your own hands?"

Lei An grinned. "Don’t be in such a hurry. You’re next."

As he spoke, he swung his sword in a backhanded strike into the darkness behind him.

"You..."

A terrified gasp came from the darkness.

The hidden Assassin hadn’t expected to be discovered.

’But none of the three had shown any reaction.’

SCHLICK!

Lei An’s strength was beyond the Assassin’s imagination. After just two or three moves, the Assassin lay dead at his feet.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Outside the opening, the Golden Anteater went on a rampage.

Its long tongue whipped about, attacking Wilder in mid-air.

Wilder’s expression changed. ’Not a single word out of Timo’s mouth was true.’

’The tongue isn’t long enough, it can’t lift the ore...’

’It was all lies.’

BANG!

After dodging a few times, Wilder was finally struck by the tongue and sent flying.

But he had also succeeded in Casting.

"Mire Skill!"

The section of the wall beneath the Golden Anteater’s feet turned into a mire.

Affected by gravity, the mire slid down and fell into the underground river.

Losing its footing, the Golden Anteater flailed its limbs, desperately trying to grab onto something to steady itself.

SPLASH!

The Golden Anteater plummeted into the underground river.

Because the cliff face had turned to mire, the entrance to the tunnel collapsed and was sealed off.

Lei An frowned, looking at the collapsed entrance before him.

He switched his sword to his left hand, gathered Fighting Spirit in his right, and threw a punch.

BOOM!

A large amount of dirt flew out of the tunnel entrance, falling into the river below.

Lei An stepped out of the tunnel and saw that Wilder had already reached the Secret Silver Ore.

Wilder tried to take the entire chunk of ore but found it was too large to fit in his Spatial Ring.

Hearing the commotion behind him, he knew Lei An had broken free.

He hastily cast Magic to break the ore apart.

"Wind Cutting!"

A piece of the Secret Silver Ore fell into his hand, and he quickly stuffed it into his Spatial Ring.

BAM!

Lei An leaped powerfully, clearing the over twenty-meter-wide underground river and lunging toward Wilder in mid-air.

Wilder looked back, a hint of delight in his eyes.

’A perfect chance!’

A ring on his finger glowed, instantly forming a Fireball that shot toward Lei An in mid-air.

Lei An was also a bit surprised. He swung his sword to strike the Fireball.

He had planned to jump the river during the brief window while Wilder was Casting.

He hadn’t expected Wilder to use a Magic Ring to cast, putting him in an awkward position.

At the edge of the underground river, Li Wei stood atop his Shadow Attendant, cloaked in Invisibility, looking up as the two men fought.

What had fallen into the river earlier was just a rock.
