Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 36: Instakill
Seeing Dias in danger, Li Wei knew he couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.
He raised his Magic Staff.
Kunan watched Dias anxiously. He wanted to go help, but he also had to protect Li Wei.
Suddenly, a flash of red appeared in the corner of his eye.
WHOOSH!
A small Fireball flew out.
’If Mage Li Wei is making a move, he should be able to get Dias out of this predicament,’ Kunan thought with a leap of joy.
However, the small Fireball didn’t burn away the web on Dias.
Its target wasn’t him at all.
WHOOSH!
The small Fireball flew over Dias’s head, arcing toward a distant, approaching Demon Cave Spider.
The Demon Cave Spider scuttled sideways, trying to dodge the small Fireball.
Li Wei manually detonated it.
KABOOM!
A violent explosion erupted. The light from the small Fireball’s detonation engulfed half of the Demon Cave Spider’s body.
The shockwave sent the Demon Cave Spider’s mangled corpse flying several meters.
Seeing this, Li Wei himself was surprised.
’I didn’t expect the Small Fireball Technique’s power to increase so much after using the Magic Staff.’
Manually detonating the Small Fireball Technique was an ability one could only grasp after their Cultivation of the Magic reached the Small Success Level.
The effect was unexpectedly good on his first try.
The Demon Cave Spider could have dodged that last attack, but because Li Wei manually detonated the small Fireball, it couldn’t escape the Small Fireball Technique’s blast radius.
Lanya heard the explosion and looked back to see Li Wei take out a Demon Cave Spider in a single hit.
A look of shock crossed her face.
With only two Demon Cave Spiders left, Lanya suddenly felt they could win this.
She quickly turned back to the fight.
Lanya shouted, "Lisa, hold off the other Demon Cave Spider! Buy Mage Li Wei some time for his Casting!"
"Got it!"
Li Wei glanced at Dias and said to Kunan, "Go help Dias. I don’t need your protection."
Kunan hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, Master Mage. Be careful."
Kunan drew his Longsword and ran to Dias’s side, helping him cut through the Magic Spider Web.
Fire Element Magic could easily clear away the Magic Spider Web, but Li Wei didn’t have time right now.
He had to deal with the Demon Cave Spiders.
Kunan understood this as well, so he had no choice but to use his Longsword to cut the web and free Dias first.
Li Wei noted the positions of the two remaining Demon Cave Spiders, raised his Magic Staff, and launched a second small Fireball, locking onto the closer one.
WHOOSH!
The Fireball flew toward the Demon Cave Spider.
Lanya was surprised to see the Fireball flying toward the Demon Cave Spider.
’Li Wei’s Casting speed is much faster than I imagined.’
BAM!
The Demon Cave Spider was sent flying by the blast. Lanya charged up to the heavily injured creature and finished it off with a swing of her Great Sword.
In less than ten seconds, two Demon Cave Spiders were already dead.
Lanya was a bit stunned. ’That was too fast!’
SWISH!
An arrow shot toward the last Demon Cave Spider.
The Demon Cave Spider vanished into the woods, and the arrow missed.
Li Wei quickly scanned his surroundings, searching for the Demon Cave Spider that had activated its camouflage ability.
"It’s gone?"
Li Wei spun around but couldn’t find any sign of the last Demon Cave Spider.
"Did it run away?"
After a few minutes of vigilance with still no sign of the Demon Cave Spider, the group let down their guard.
Lanya returned with two Broken Tooths, while the others were still helping Dias cut through the Magic Spider Web.
Seeing this, Li Wei raised his Magic Staff. A tiny Fireball appeared at its tip.
It was only about the size of a thumb.
Just a third of the size of a normal small Fireball.
WHOOSH!
The tiny Fireball shot out and hit the web at Dias’s feet.
SIZZLE!
The flames of the Fire Element quickly burned the Magic Spider Web to ashes.
Once free, Dias quickly patted out the flames on his clothes.
Lisa patted her chest and said, "That scared me to death! I thought we were done for!"
She looked at Li Wei, her eyes wide. "It’s all thanks to Mage Li Wei... Look out! Behind you..."
Li Wei instinctively turned around.
BAM!
The Demon Cave Spider that had been lying in wait for so long suddenly dropped down, pinning Li Wei.
It turned out the camouflaged Demon Cave Spider had been hiding in the tree.
It only launched its attack after Li Wei had cast the tiny Fireball.
The Demon Cave Spider’s sharp legs scraped across Li Wei’s body, making a piercing sound.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
It tried to tear into Li Wei with its fangs but was blocked by a layer of invisible armor.
Seeing this, Lanya and the others turned pale with fright.
They quickly raised their weapons, wanting to save him.
But Li Wei shouted, "Stay back!"
A Fireball rapidly expanded between him and the Demon Cave Spider.
KABOOM!
Flames shot into the sky as the Demon Cave Spider was blown to smithereens.
Li Wei was completely unharmed. He got up from the ground and patted the dust off himself.
The Invisible Armor had blocked the explosion and the dust. He had only patted himself instinctively, but gave up when he realized he couldn’t touch the hem of his clothes.
When the others saw that Li Wei was actually okay, they all breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Curiosity followed. ’What in the world just happened?’
They had all clearly seen Li Wei get pounced on by the Demon Cave Spider, so why was he completely fine?
Lanya hurried over and asked, "Mage Li Wei, are you hurt?"
Li Wei shook his head. "I’m fine."
"It’s a shame the Demon Cave Spider was blown to bits. We won’t be able to find its right fang."
Lanya said, "As long as you’re okay, Mage Li Wei, missing one Demon Cave Spider’s right fang isn’t a big deal."
Each right fang represented one slain Demon Cave Spider.
When it was time to settle the quest rewards, payment would be calculated based on the number of Demon Cave Spider right fangs brought back.
One right fang was worth thirty Silver Coins.
It was a real pity to lose one.
Li Wei would also get a share of the reward, which was why he cared.
Lisa ran over, looked at Li Wei with concern, and sighed in relief when she saw he was fine.
"You scared me to death! I can’t believe that Demon Cave Spider didn’t run away and was hiding in a tree to ambush you. When I saw it attacking you, my heart nearly leaped out of my chest! Thank goodness you’re okay."
Li Wei looked at her and smiled. "Thanks for the warning just now."
Their eyes met. Lisa looked away, a little embarrassed, and quickly waved her hands. "Don’t mention it."
She seemed to remember something and hurried over to a nearby patch of grass to search.
She didn’t find it and stood up, a little disappointed.
Then she looked up and suddenly saw the thing she was looking for stuck in a tree.
She forcefully pulled the Demon Cave Spider’s right fang from where it was embedded in the bark and showed it to Li Wei with a smile.
"Look, I found it."
Li Wei smiled as well. "You have sharp eyes."
Lisa handed the right fang to Lanya and said cheerfully, "Of course! I’m a Divine Shooter, after all!"
Dias and Kunan walked over.
Kunan lowered his head. "I’m sorry. If I had stayed by your side to protect you, you wouldn’t have been in danger."
Li Wei shook his head. "Don’t apologize. I’m the one who told you to go."
Even so, Kunan still felt responsible.
After all, a Knight’s duty was to protect his teammates.
Li Wei changed the subject. "Since everyone’s okay, let’s continue the quest. We can try to get back in time for lunch."
Hearing this, everyone’s spirits lifted.
’From the sound of it, Li Wei plans on taking action himself!’
