Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Burn the Bugs, Save the Beauties

"Gotta move! Gotta move! Gotta move now!"

Magnus grabbed his motorcycle helmet from the cop car and bolted toward Dorm 3.

Sarah, Taylor, Emily - they were still in there. If his choices brought this chaos down on them, then their lives could be hanging by a thread now.

He’d barely covered thirty meters when a ten-meter-wide beam of crimson light roared to life at the university’s gate - thick with creatures pouring out like a damn flood. No way through.

"Hell no! You wanna block me? Let’s see you try!"

Magnus spun around, grabbed a dead woman lying nearby. Her body looked like a pin-cushion, covered in palm-sized mosquitoes that weren’t just sucking blood - they were draining her dry, fat and all.

No time to care. He dragged her over to an overturned car, popped the gas cap, soaked the body in gasoline, then lit her up. Holding her by both ankles, he swung the flaming corpse like a torch, charging around the edge of the light beam and forcing his way onto campus.

Dorm 3 was less than two hundred meters ahead - but inside, no one had caught on. Most had no idea what was happening, thought it was another quake maybe. Some even ran out, only to face what looked like hell itself.

The first wave to exit saw the monsters and tried to retreat in terror, but the next wave kept pushing out, clueless. Chaos broke out. A human crush formed at the dorm entrance. Giant centipedes and spiders dove in from outside for fresh meat. The ones that couldn’t get in just climbed over heads and crawled in from above.

The scene was nightmare fuel. Like a giant slab of raw meat covered in writhing bugs.

"Damn it! You bastard heavens!!"

Every cell in Magnus’s body screamed in fury. He’d seen horrors before, but this? This lit a fire in his gut.

Ripping off two centipedes clinging to him, he pinned one down with his boot, yanked with both hands, tore the bastard in half. With a roar, he charged to Dorm 3’s entrance, found his armored SUV, and pulled a gas can from the back.

"Outta the way!"

He shouted, uncapped the can, and splashed fuel right over the mass of bodies at the door. Then he flicked his lighter.

Instant blaze.

Spiders, centipedes, and even a few poor girls caught in the flames - it all went up. Screams filled the air, human and monster alike. Using the confusion, Magnus pushed into the fire, trampling over carcasses, forcing his way through the flames into the building.

"Back the hell off! Quit pushing forward!"

His shout cut through the noise. He dragged several sobbing girls inside, slammed the doors shut, and barked orders.

"Hold this damn door!"

He shoved the nearest girls into position to brace the entrance, then sprinted to the corner of the lobby, smashed open a firebox, grabbed the axe, came back, and jammed it tight across the door to hold it firm. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

The dorm building was chaos. Cries and screams echoed everywhere, and outside, the air was filled with the guttural howls of agony. A few human-shaped fireballs banged relentlessly on the reinforced glass door.

"Shut the hell up, all of you!"

Magnus yanked off his helmet, pulled out a dagger, and tore through the bloodsucking centipedes latching onto the girls. One after another, he sliced them clean. Then he roared again, voice cold and sharp.

"Everybody sit your asses on the ground, now! No one stands! I don’t care who you are - stand up and I’ll knock you back down!"

The lobby on the first floor, maybe a bit over a hundred square meters, was stuffed with over two hundred girls. Even the halls, stairways, and passages were jammed. Almost every girl was crying. But after Magnus shouted, most dropped to the floor trembling, holding each other and sobbing quietly.

Outside, the fire fueled by corpses still burned strong. That’d buy maybe fifteen minutes of safety, if that. For now, the reinforced windows held steady. The monsters - those centipede-spider freaks - rarely smashed their way in. Not yet. Once the crowds outside got torn apart, though, they’d come crashing in, without a doubt.

And when that time came - even Magnus couldn’t hold back the flood.

"You’ve got ten minutes!" he shouted. "Each of you - don’t care how - get a blanket and a bedsheet. Ten minutes, then back here in the lobby. I’ll get whoever’s willing out of here. If you’re too scared or don’t believe me, fine! Stay here and wait to die - I won’t stop you. Am I clear?!"

Hundreds of stunned eyes stared at him. Magnus gritted his teeth, fury boiling.

"Move! Now! The hell are you staring at? You think sitting here waiting makes you safe? Won’t be long before those things smash through the windows and suck you dry! They’ll rip your flesh off! You think I’m joking? Get your shit together and do it if you want to live! Sit here and cry if you want to die - I won’t waste time saving you!"

The mention of centipedes breaking in sent the girls into another panic. They screamed, scattered, and scrambled to grab blankets and sheets - though none knew what for.

"Magnus!"

Liana rushed over. Magnus spotted her, along with Emily, Sarah, and Taylor just behind, plus a few Ice Regiment girls.

He marched straight up to Emily, grabbing both her shoulders, fury blazing in his eyes.

"Do you believe me now? Huh?! You believe me now? All I asked was trust - five goddamn hours! Just five! And you called the damn cops on me!"

If Emily hadn’t screwed this up, they wouldn’t be in this mess.

Magnus’ plan wasn’t perfect, but it was the best he could come up with on short notice. Once he’d revealed Emily’s true background and predicted the storm that hit for hours, he thought she’d at least listen.

He would’ve had her round up the Ice Regiment girls and wait at the underground garage. Magnus planned to meet them there and lead them out.

It could’ve worked. Not flawless, but better than this nightmare.

But no. Emily just had to make it worse. She didn’t trust men at all - not even when it meant everyone’s survival.
