Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 134: The heart wants what it wants
Audrey was sitting on the sofa with Alpha Lake massaging her shoulders behind her.
"Don’t worry, we’ll find her; the wolves have been sent to search the whole forests and borders; relax; Sandra will come back safe," Alpha Lake kissed her cheek, placing his face beside her own.
"I hope so; it’s because of me she’s missing; I’ll never forgive myself if anything happens to her," She sighed heavily.
Alpha Lake was quiet, not knowing the right words to use for her anymore.
"No matter what, I’ll be right beside you," He said softly.
A knock suddenly sounded on the door, disturbing their quiet time.
"I got it," Alpha Lake kissed her cheek again before going to open his door.
"Alpha, the warriors have all been assembled," Audretmy heard Andrew report to Alpha Lake.
She quickly stood and went over to the door.
"Are the witches here too?" She questioned, standing beside Alpha Lake.
"Not yet, but Miranda said they’ll be here in no time," Andrew explained.
"Then, what about Sandra?" She asked hopefully.
"No trace yet, I’m sorry," Andrew replied.
Audrey looked up at Alpha Lake, "You see why I wanted to go myself? I know Elena’s tricks, and I’ll be able to find Sandra faster," She told him with a slight frown.
Aloha Lame shook his head, placing his hands on her shoulders.
"No way I’m letting you walk into the Seath Claw Pack at such a time, Audrey. That’s exactly what she wants, it’s a trap, and I won’t let you fall into it. I’m sorry kitten, but if it gets to the worst, I’ll choose your life over Sandra’s," Alpha Lake sounded firm in his decision.
"Can you even listen to yourself?!" Audrey slapped his hands away from her shoulders and ran out of the room, angry.
Alpha Lake sighed and closed his eyes for a while.
He didn’t regret what he said, he’d say it again if time was rewind. He would protect Audrey at all cost, it didn’t matter if it was at the cost of his life or any other person’s life. He would protect her.
Audrey was angry.
How could he say such a thing about Sandra?!
He literally meant he was going to let her die. She was very disappointed in him.
She was walking out of the Packhouse when she saw a familiar figure talking with Will in front of the packhouse.
"Rein?" She whispered to herself.
She walked out of the packhouse and moved closer to him.
"Rein?" She called from behind him.
Rein paused and turned to see who was calling him, frowning when he didn’t recognize her.
"Luna," Will bowed at her.
Rein widened his eyes in realization. The person who had called him was Alpha Lake’s mate. He’d heard a lot of rumors about her, even how Alpha Lake had treated her badly in the past.
But he never judged for he knew the power the mate bond could have over an individual.
"Luna," He bowed politely.
"Please, calm me, Audrey," She smiled at Rein.
Rein nodded, offering her a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Audrey,"
"Thank you, same here," Audrey replied.
Will was uneasy with Audrey’s appearance, and she noticed it. She looked toward him, seeing how he was trying his best to avoid her gaze.
But she suddenly remembered the mission she had sent him on a mission, which he hadn’t reported back to her how he did it.
"Can I ask what Will was saying to you?" Audrey asked, narrowing her eyes at Will.
Will fidgeted a little.
"Nothing, Luna, I was just telling him that I couldn’t help with his request," Will explained.
Audrey frowned, "What request?" She asked.
Rein sighed. "Can u speak to you privately?" He questioned.
Audrey said that he didn’t want to talk to her in Will’s presence and nodded.
"Just, let me ask my guard a little question," She smiled at Rein.
"Sure," Rein nodded and moved away from them, standing close by.
"I’ve waited, Will, but you never gave me feedback; what happened," She asked quietly.
Will took a deep breath before replying.
"I’m sorry, Luna. I failed," Will bowed his head in regret.
Audrey furrowed her brows as she heard his reply.
"Tell me clearly, Will, what did you mean by ’you failed?’" Audrey raised her brows at him.
She could already guess what he was about to say to her.
Will looked around the whole place, hoping this wasn’t going to be the last time he saw the beautiful view of his pack environment. He knew Audrey could kill him with just a snap of his fingers. He hoped it wasn’t the case.
"I’m sorry, Luna. But before I could get to the hospital, Adeline was nowhere to be seen. She had escaped before I could get to her. I’m ready to accept any punishment, Luna. I deserve whatever you decide," Will lowered himself to the floor on his knees, submitting himself to Audrey’s mercy.
Even if she decided to kill him, ye wouldn’t object; after all, he, too, had tried to kill her before.
Perhaps this was how Karma worked.
"Go, Will. Go join the warriors and await your Alpha’s instructions," Audrey calmly turned away from him and walked over to Rein.
"Walk me, Rein," She said, walking toward the back of the packhouse.
Rein followed her, feeling a strong aura coming from her, he too wasn’t an ordinary wolf, his father was the Alpha of their pack, but he never inherited the Alpha blood, he did inherit the strength and speed, and whenever he met any wolf that was different from the rest, he knew.
And Audrey was so different, different in a good yet strange way.
Audrey felt Rein staring at her back and turned to look at him, causing him to quickly take his eyes away from her. She chuckled,l at his cute behavior.
Why would Mr. Russell hurt someone this sweet?
Audrey suddenly saw Lisa walking toward her and tilted her head to the side; wasn’t she supposed to be with her mother?
"Everything alright, Lisa?: she asked as Lisa got close to her.
"Yes, Luna, I just wanted to let you know that the Alpha asked for your mother to be transferred to the packhouse for security reasons," Lisa informed softly.
Audrey nodded, feeling more at ease knowing that her mother was now closer to her.
"Thank you, Lisa," She patted the girl’s shoulder before walking on.
"I know why you’re here, Rein," Audrey said as she paused, staring at the warriors who lined the whole field, ready for war.
Her heart sank, she knew some lives were going to be lost, mates, husbands, boyfriends, children, friends, fathers, sisters, name it all, were going to die at the cost of the war Elena was bringing to them, she wished there was another way, but there wasn’t, they had to show them that they too were even more prepared than they were.
"How did you know?" Rein questioned, coming to stand beside Audrey and looking in the same direction as her.
Audrey sighed, "Even when he still had you locked up, your eyes never turned hostile for once; you stared at him with love, the same as now; your eyes are filled with longing for him," Audrey spoke quietly.
Rein was surprised by her answer; he knew by her reply that she had seen the video of him when Mr. Russell still had him locked in the laboratory below his company, but what he never expected yet was that it was easy for Alpha Lake to show her such a video.
But he wasn’t going himself; they were mates, and mates shared everything, including their souls.
He sighed, nodding his head slowly. "Yes, Luna, I still love him," he confessed.
"But, why? Why do you choose to forgive him after what he’s done to you?" She turned her face to look at him.
Rein smiled, staring at Audrey’s beautiful face, "Same reason you chose to forgive the Alpha," he nodded.
Audrey smiled, she wasn’t offended, he was right. Love always won.
It’ll make you do things that would make people question your reasoning, but in the end, it’s just between you and your partner, the heart wants what it wants.
"You’re right, Rein. Love makes us stupid, but if that stupidity would make you feel fulfilled for the rest of your life, then, by all means, be stupid about love," She chuckled at her words.
Rein’s eyes shone with happiness, finally, some who shared his view pint on love.
He had thought his journey to the Grey Blood Pack would be futile, but thank goodness he met Audrey, and he knew she was just the right person to talk to about his feelings. She had the power to persuade the Alpha to release Russell.
"Thank you for believing me, for hearing me out, Luna," He bowed.
Audrey shook her head, "Audrey," She corrected.
"Audrey," Rein repeated with a wide smile.
"It’s not safe to travel out. Pack today, rest here; tomorrow, you can leave with him," Audrey said to Rein.
Rein didn’t know when he engulfed Audrey in a bear hug out of excitement, laughing like a kid.
"Thank you, thank you so much!" He laughed loudly like a schoolgirl.
"You can put her down bow, Rein," Alpha Lake’s voice sounded from behind them, startling Rein.
He suddenly realized what he was doing and quickly lowered Audrey to the floor. "Sorry," He muttered.
Alpha Lake instantly came over and pulled Audrey to her side.
"Found yourself a new friend?" He whispered, sulking.
Audrey was still angry at him so she didn’t reply, just keeping mute.
"Luna, the witches have arrived," Andrew walked up to them and announced.
Audrey looked up at Alpha Lake then walked off with Audrey. She would deal with him when everything was over.
