He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 23: Framed for Poisoning
Nina Walsh countered, "Where are we going?"
Jay Keane’s face was expressionless, like a mindless drone. "You’ll know when we arrive, Miss Walsh."
Nina had a bad feeling, but thinking of Aiden Sinclair’s attitude earlier today, she still got into Jay Keane’s car.
The car sped all the way to the hospital entrance. Nina’s heart leaped into her throat. "Why did you bring me to the hospital? Is Aiden Sinclair sick?"
The car stopped in the hospital’s parking garage. Jay Keane replied, "Mr. Sinclair is fine. It’s Ms. Jacobs."
Clara Jacobs?
Nina immediately unbuckled her seatbelt and reached for the door handle, but it was too late. Bodyguards rushed over, grabbed her by both arms, and dragged her into an elevator.
She was pinned to a hospital bed as two nurses rolled up her sleeves, ready to stick a needle into her wrist.
The scene was chillingly familiar. ’Aiden Sinclair is making them take my blood again.’
"Get off me!"
Nina, with a sudden burst of strength she didn’t know she had, kicked one of the nurses to the ground, then twisted her head and bit down on a bodyguard’s hand.
The bodyguard yelped in pain and let go. Nina scrambled off the bed and bolted out of the room, only to find Aiden Sinclair blocking her path at the doorway the moment she stepped out.
His eyes were cold and merciless—he was like a completely different person from that morning.
Nina couldn’t help but demand, "Aiden Sinclair, why?"
’Why? Just when I was about to trust and forgive him, why would he betray and hurt me again?’
"You should be asking yourself that. How do you explain this?"
CRASH—
Aiden Sinclair furiously threw something to the ground. A rich, fragrant aroma filled the air. On the floor lay a shattered wild rose gift box.
Nina stared in confusion at the object on the floor. It was the aromatherapy gift she had prepared for Aiden. ’What is it doing here?’
"This is the custom aromatherapy you ordered, isn’t it? It was delivered to Lividia Villa, and a maid put it in Clara’s room. Last night, Clara accidentally used it, was poisoned, and fell into a coma. She’s still in the emergency room right now!"
Nina’s eyes widened in shock. "You think I poisoned her? I didn’t! Why would I poison anyone!"
’It’s a story riddled with holes, yet they’re all insisting I did it.’
Aiden challenged her, "If she hadn’t used that aromatherapy, the one who was poisoned would have been me."
"Aiden Sinclair, you think I was trying to harm you?" Nina looked at him in despair.
Aiden met her gaze without a hint of guilt. "For old times’ sake, if you just give her another blood transfusion and apologize, we’ll let this matter drop."
"In your dreams! Aiden Sinclair, is Clara Jacobs’s life the only one that matters? What about my life? What about my child’s life? Are they nothing?" Nina was filled with utter disappointment and fury.
She hated herself. Hated herself for being so soft-hearted, so stupid. ’To think that just this morning, I was actually considering getting back together with Aiden Sinclair!’
Watching her despairing expression, Aiden’s heart felt as if it were being pierced by needles. He was about to relent when he heard Sophia Sawyer’s footsteps behind him.
Aiden looked up. "What are you all staring at? Take her inside."
The nurses and bodyguards moved in again, but Nina fought and struggled to get away.
Sophia Sawyer watched the chaotic scene, her face contorted with hatred.
"Have you all not eaten? Drag her in there and draw her blood, now! If even a single hair on Clara’s head is harmed, I’ll make her pay with her life!"
Someone clamped a hand over Nina’s mouth, silencing her, while two arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her backward. Just as she was about to be dragged inside, she dug her fingers desperately into the doorframe, refusing to let go even as her arms felt like they were about to be torn from their sockets.
"Jay Keane, what are you standing there for? Go help them!" Sophia Sawyer commanded.
Jay Keane glanced at Aiden Sinclair and was about to step forward when a figure suddenly rushed over.
"Stop! What do you think you’re doing? This is a hospital!"
As if seeing her savior, Nina let go of the doorframe and waved desperately at the newcomer for help.
Declan Grant strode forward and pulled Nina from their grasp. She clung tightly to his hand, her hair and clothes a disheveled mess from the struggle. Her whole body was trembling.
Declan took off his own coat and put it around her shoulders. He then glared furiously at Aiden Sinclair. "The hospital has security cameras. Your violent behavior has been recorded. We will be calling the police."
Sophia Sawyer recognized Declan and sneered. "No need. We’ll call the police ourselves. This vicious woman deliberately poisoned our Clara. The evidence is irrefutable. I’ll make sure she rots in prison for life."
Declan looked down at Nina, who shook her head and whispered, "I didn’t do it."
Declan believed her without a moment’s hesitation.
"Then we’ll wait for the police to investigate. I’m certain Nina would never do something like this."
With that, Declan pushed through the crowd and helped Nina into the elevator.
"Ma’am, what should we do about the blood supply for Ms. Jacobs?" a bodyguard asked.
"What else can we do? Contact other hospitals immediately!"
Sophia Sawyer shot Aiden Sinclair a look, snapped out her words, and stormed off in a huff.
Once everyone had dispersed, Jay Keane walked over to Aiden Sinclair and asked in a low voice, "Mr. Sinclair, what should we do with the Rh-negative blood we had prepared?"
Only Jay Keane knew that bringing Nina to the hospital was just for show.
"Have people come to donate blood in the name of The Crimson Heritage Association."

Declan Grant took Nina to his office and examined her.
"Nina, don’t worry, the baby is perfectly fine," Declan said. "But your levels are a bit low. You need to eat more and get plenty of rest."
Lying on the examination bed, a faint smile finally appeared on Nina’s face.
"Thank you, Declan."
Declan was suppressing hundreds of questions. He desperately wanted to know why Nina was with Aiden Sinclair, but seeing the deep sadness in her eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to reopen her wounds.
’Right now, the only thing that can make her happy is the child in her belly.’
’I want her to be as happy as possible, at least when she’s with me.’
"Nina, would you prefer a boy or a girl? Do you want to know the baby’s gender? I can check for you at your next prenatal appointment."
Nina thought about it seriously. "I’d like a boy."
"Why is that?"
Nina smiled. "No reason. It’s just... if it’s a boy, I could die with a little more peace of mind."
Declan was taken aback. "Hey, hey, hey, don’t say such unlucky things in front of the baby."
Nina just smiled and placed a hand on her stomach. "I was just kidding. How could I bear to die? He’s the only family I have left in this world. I have to watch him grow up."
Nina’s phone began to vibrate violently on the desk. Its battery had been dead, so it had been turned off. She had just plugged it in to charge and turned it on in Declan’s office.
Nina answered the call. Michelle Quinn’s voice yelled from the phone, "Lemon, you finally answered! Get over here, now! Do you want this Lawson Group order or not?"
