A scandal between her and President Kingston?

Evelyn’s mind went empty and blank for a moment. A sense of shock and confusion filled her entire being.

Kate’s words were totally unexpected. Then again, nothing else could explain the strange actions and gazes on her way out the dance studio.

How did she, a rising small actress get involve with the powerful president in the first place?

Seeing the confusion and shock on her face, Kate quickly swiped for the trending article on the phone with her and brought up the device to Evelyn’s face.

’’Look. You remember this right?’’

Evelyn stared at the image on the Kate’s phone. Her eyes widened slightly in recognition at the sight. Of course she remembered this scene.

This happened when a young master had almost tripped her, and President Kingston had caught her in time. She had been truly grateful to the latter for catching her on time.

Why did the image suggest a different meaning though? Evelyn caught sight of the heading and some negative comments.

’’Do you think President Kingston will suspect that you did this for hype?’’ With her phone down, Kate’s face leaned forward with a hesitant whisper. ’’I’m worried she would blame you and your career....’’ Concern etched on her face as she purposely did not finish her words. It was bad luck to say such, especially for her dear friend.

’’...’’ Evelyn remained silent.

’’Should we look for her? Perhaps you should discuss with your manager and clarify the scandal.’’ Kate suggested further, as the silence stretched on between them.

Her friend, Eve seemed truly shocked by this. President Kingston was not one to be taken lightly in the entertainment industry after all. So, the silence was understandable.

What if the powerful lady assumed that her friend was using her clout? Who knows how Eve and her career would end up?

Kate shivered instinctively as her imagination did wonders to her thoughts. And Evelyn’s career as an actress had already taken off on a good start. This was a delicate stage for her to assert herself strongly as a talented actress in the entertainment industry.

Scandals was the first priority to be avoided during this period.

’’...You don’t need to this concern for me, Kate.’’ Evelyn finally said with an assured smile.

’’But....’’

’’You, I and President Kingston are aware of what truly happened at the birthday banquet.’’ Evelyn did not allow Kate to speak up. ’’President Kingston is not unreasonable to blame me unjustly. I’m just as innocent as her.’’

’....Even if we are both victims of this unexpected scandal....I don’t feel scared.....’ Evelyn whispered in her heart. For some reason, deep down in her heart, there was a sense of.....pleasure....and.....accomplishment? No fear, no panic, no anxiety.

This was strange as her career was the most important to her, potentially being threatened at the moment.

Kate was here worrying on her behalf, but she, the true victim, did not feel scared. Although she had spoken so boldly and righteously about President Kingston, the said woman could actually indeed end her career. After all, she, an actress, was a good suspect of the scandal.

But....

Evelyn had no much fear.

The scandal portrayed her as a victim and pitiable lady, and President Kingston as a wicked and unjust lady.

Even if President Kingston were to end her career eventually, her fans and other passerby social media users would speak out for her against the powerful lady.

’I should see Bella on this one....’ Evelyn inwardly shook off her strange thoughts and feelings. The more she delayed on wondering why she felt such, the more complicated the scandal would become.

It’s best if clarified the scandal both to the public and President Kingston.

And Arabella was the right choice for that.

’’I should look for Luna right now and deal with the scandal.’’ Evelyn bid farewell to the worried Kate and left under her anxious gaze.

As well as the curious and pitying gazes of other artists and managers in the company.

It didn’t take long for Evelyn to reach the private room dedicated only to Arabella. Normally, she would have knocked and waited for a faint come in before entering the room. But given her close relationship with Arabella, Evelyn just entered after a light knock.

’’Eve! Thank goodness you came on time. I was about to ask if you were in the company.’’ Arabella suddenly stood up and came up to her before she could say a word.

As always, The newly global actress was looking chic and attractive with her make-up and luxurious branded outfits. In contrast, Evelyn was in her simple dance outfit and a towel around her neck. Her face was bare of makeup and sticky from sweat. In her hand was her empty water bottle.

’’You need me?’’ Evelyn had a welcoming smile on her lips. Had Arabella seen the scandal online already? Perhaps that could explain this sudden enthusiasm?

But....what of her manager then?

’’Yes.’’ Arabella nodded in response and then asked. ’’Did you meet my cousin at my mother’s birthday banquet?’’ She folded her arms against her chest and waited for Evelyn’s reply. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Evelyn’s eyes flashed slightly as she heard the question. Indeed, Arabella had seen the scandal before her manager.

’’Well, not exactly, Bella.’’ Evelyn replied with an awkward laughter. ’’A young master had pushed me and I almost stumbled on the ground. Luckily, President Kingston had caught me on time. Though I didn’t expect someone to have captured the scene and misuse it on social media.’’

She then sighed with concern. ’’Now I wonder how I should explain this to President Kingston. She had done such a good deed for me, yet I repay this way. What if she assumes the scandal as an action of mine and blames me unjustly?’’

’’I haven’t also heard from Luna yet.’’ A mumble escaped her lips, and as she somewhat expected, Arabella’s face twisted at the mention of her manager.

’’What? You haven’t seen your manager at all?"

’’Yes, Bella.’’ Evelyn answered with another sigh. ’’Actually, Kate was the one who told me about the scandal before I came here. I just wanted to check if Luna stopped by at your place before searching for her elsewhere.’’

That was a lie....a terrible one.

Her goal for coming here was to use Arabella in dealing with the scandal, especially with President Kingston on the side.

If she had decided to look for her manager, more time would have been wasted. Besides that, her manager was the one to look for her, not her, the actress looking for the manager.

In some ways, Arabella was right in certain words.

As an actress, she wasn’t supposed to be dealing with scandals and public opinions of herself. There was a manager to assist with that, but Luna had become more arrogant over the years.

Perhaps she had been spoon-feeding this manager of hers by being outwardly kind and gentle.

It would be beneficial if she used Arabella to deal with the arrogance of her manager.
