Help, I'm in Another World and All the Men Are So Hot! [BL]-Chapter 190: The Elf’s Arrival
Damien’s eyes widened. "Wait, seriously?" He paused, realizing, "So that was really your magic name... I’d better be careful not to accidentally say it in front of others."
Elyon nodded. "It also works with my brother. If you think of him and use his magic name, you’ll be able to sense each other. It’s a faint connection, like, ’Oh, they’re trying to reach me.’ You should try it sometime—he’ll likely respond in some way."
"That’s amazing," Damien said, his mood lifting. He had missed Elyric, Elyon’s brother, since they couldn’t see each other often.
"Wait a second," Damien realized. "I don’t think Elyric ever told me his magic name."
Now that he thought about it, he and Elyric had never exchanged names directly. Damien only knew Elyric’s name because Elyon had mentioned it.
"Oh, that’s fine," Elyon said. "In his letter, he mentioned his name, so it’s as good as having told you. This bond is based on magic, so as long as he feels like he told you, it works."
Damien recalled the letter Elyric had left behind, which Elyon had delivered after Elyric returned home.
"I can’t read letters," Damien said sheepishly. "And it felt too personal to have someone else read it aloud, so I just kept it tucked away."
Elyon had reassured him, "You’ll be able to read it yourself someday. Just save it for when you’re ready."
Damien had been careful not to show it to anyone else.
"So you know what’s in the letter?" Damien asked.
"Not exactly," Elyon replied. "I only know he mentioned his name and something about a promise. I didn’t read the details."
The mention of the promise triggered a memory for Damien, and he felt relieved that no one else had seen the letter.
"I see," Damien said softly. He turned his thoughts to Elyric. "Elyric, I haven’t forgotten our promise either."
Just thinking about it filled Damien with warmth.
Suddenly, something small dropped from above, landing gently before him.
It was a tiny wooden carving—a delicate sculpture of two slender trees connected by their branches.
"A branch of intertwined trees," Elyon remarked, a hint of amusement in his tone. "He’s gotten rather sentimental, hasn’t he?"
Damien didn’t fully understand its significance, but since it seemed to be a gift from Elyric, he decided to treasure it.
"Anyway," Elyon interrupted, "you didn’t call me here just to see my face, did you?"
"Oh, right!" Damien said, snapping back to the moment. "First, let me introduce you. This is my ’Boss,’ Caius, who is also Theo’s younger brother."
Elyon raised an eyebrow at Damien’s use of the term "Boss," but decided to let it slide for now.
Damien turned toward Caius to continue, only to notice something odd—Caius hadn’t moved or said a word in a while.
Looking closer, Damien realized Caius was sitting on the sofa, utterly stunned. His finger trembled as he pointed weakly at Elyon.
"An... An elf..." Caius whispered hoarsely, as though he had just seen a ghost.
"Oh, look, doesn’t that an elf? one of the lesser races," Caius declared while pointing rudely.
Elyon, unbothered by the gesture, glanced at him with a look of casual superiority.
Caius, who had been frozen in place with his finger still extended, suddenly snapped out of it.
Realizing his error, he hurriedly climbed down from the sofa and dropped to his knees on the floor.
"M-My deepest apologies, noble one. I am Caius Vale Rhys Dalehaven, the second son of Marquis Darius Magnus Rhys Dalehaven.
I beg your forgiveness for my rudeness. Please, implore your mercy."
"Hm, very well," Elyon replied with a regal tone. "I was the one who interrupted so abruptly. Pay it no mind."
"Your gracious words humble me," Caius said, bowing so low that his head nearly touched the floor. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
As Caius remained prostrated, Elyon, who was out of Caius’s line of sight, grinned smugly and pointed at himself as if to say, "Look how amazing I am!" His self-satisfied expression was so foolish yet endearing that Damien couldn’t help but pull Elyon close, ruffling his hair affectionately.
Elyon, surprised at first by the sudden embrace, tilted his head in mild confusion. But after a moment, he seemed to decide it wasn’t worth questioning and leaned into Damien’s touch, enjoying the attention with a happy expression.
Ah, that’s right, Damien remembered. Elyon—or rather, elves in general—were known to be an immensely proud and terrifyingly powerful race. He had completely forgotten, having grown used to Elyon’s and Elyric’s adorable personalities.
Still, the hierarchy had now been solidified: Elyon, the elf, was above Caius, and Caius, in turn, outranked Damien. The chain of command was clear.
Sorry, Elyon, but as much as you seem to want more head pats, Caius’s been glancing over here nervously, Damien thought. Reluctantly, he stopped ruffling Elyon’s hair. Elyon pouted slightly in disappointment but relented after Damien gave him one last quick hug before letting go.
Seeing this, Ithnan began inching closer, clearly wanting some attention too. However, Damien shot him a look. "Stay."
Now wasn’t the time for that. Damien could manage one elf’s affections at a time, but Ithnan’s timing was less than ideal.
Later, okay? I’ll line up some chairs, and we can sit together. Just wait for now.
Recalling that Tis’a was the one on door duty today, Damien decided: Maybe I’ll invite Ithnan to the bedroom later. It’s been a while, after all.
"Stay. Please, just calm down," Damien thought desperately, though he kept the words unspoken as he struggled to keep things under control.
As Damien and Elyon exchanged glances, Caius, who had been watching them both nervously, finally bowed his head and spoke.
"Your Grace, may I have permission to speak?"
"Granted," Elyon replied curtly.
"My deepest gratitude. I apologize for my impertinent question, but... what exactly is the nature of your relationship with Damien?"
Ah, there it is. Of course, he’d ask that.
Damien could already predict Elyon’s answer.
"We are lovers," Elyon said without hesitation.
Yup, there it is.
"...Excuse me?" Caius’s expression was frozen in shock.
