Chapter 299: Augusto’s Courage and Yor’s Support

Sensing this, Damien decided to shift the focus of the conversation.

"Elyon, over there are our new staff members, Isaac and Miria," Damien said, gesturing toward them.

Hearing the introduction, Isaac and Miria knelt as well, showing their respect.

Damien felt a little bad for not going over to formally introduce them himself, but he wanted to stay by Augusto’s side for now.

"I see. Work hard," Elyon said simply, acknowledging the pair.

Elyon, perhaps aware of Augusto’s trembling, deliberately avoided looking in his direction and instead focused on Isaac and Miria.

Damien was a bit surprised by Elyon’s thoughtfulness. He hadn’t expected such consideration from him.

This sealed it—Damien resolved to thank Elyon with every ounce of his being later.

"So, Teacher, will the mansion really be built in just one day?"

"Of course," Elyon replied firmly. "Let’s head to the construction site first."

With introductions wrapped up, Theo led Elyon away toward the planned site, giving some space to the others.

"Augusto, you did great," Damien said gently after everyone had left, kneeling beside the still-kneeling Augusto and softly patting his shoulder.

"I-I... I messed up... I’m so sorry... brother... I couldn’t... I’m sorry, I’m so sorry..."

Tears fell steadily from Augusto’s face, dripping onto the ground.

Damien pulled Augusto into a comforting embrace, gently cradling his head.

"It’s okay, Augusto. You did wonderfully. I promise, everything was perfect," Damien reassured him.

"B-but... I... I’m so sorry..."

Augusto’s tears showed no sign of stopping. Damien continued stroking his hair softly, offering quiet comfort.

It’s all right, Damien thought. Let him cry as much as he needs.

But then Damien noticed Yor, standing nearby with his hands on his hips, striking a determined pose.

"Augusto! Stop crying!" Yor declared firmly.

"Y-Yor?" Augusto stammered, startled.

"S-Senior Yor ... but..."

Senior?! Damien blinked. Since when did that dynamic exist? He couldn’t help but wonder what had gone on between the two.

"When I first met Master Elyon, I wet myself! But I didn’t cry!" Yor said, pulling from his own embarrassing experience to motivate Augusto.

Despite the awkward confession, Yor stood tall, his voice unwavering.

"You didn’t wet yourself, and you even managed to greet him properly! So no more crying!"

Damien couldn’t help but admire Yor’s gallantry. He was really stepping up.

"B-but..." Augusto stammered.

"It’s fine! I was watching too, and you were amazing, Augusto!" Yor said emphatically. Then, turning to Damien, he added, "Right, Brother?"

"Absolutely! You were remarkable, Augusto," Damien said with a warm smile, nodding in agreement.

Augusto, tears still in his eyes, looked up at Damien and Yor, who both smiled and nodded in encouragement.

"Th-thank you... And... I’m sorry for showing such an embarrassing side of myself..."

Wiping his tears with his sleeve, Augusto stood up and bowed deeply to the two of them.

"No, no, you did amazing!" Yor said enthusiastically. "Right?"

"Absolutely. Augusto, you were so impressive," Damien added with a warm smile.

"N-no... I... I mean..." Augusto stammered, still flustered.

"Augusto, if you do your best, big brother will give you a kiss!" Yor said with a mischievous grin.

Wait, Damien thought. When did that become a rule?

"W-what?! I—I couldn’t possibly... That’s too much! I don’t deserve such a thing!" Augusto protested, his face flushing bright red.

It was a system Damien had never heard of before, but Augusto, while hesitant, didn’t seem entirely opposed to the idea. So, Damien went along with it.

"Augusto?" Damien called softly.

"Um... well... brother... Thank you... and sorry..." Augusto said, hesitantly closing his eyes.

Damien crouched slightly and gently brushed Augusto’s bangs aside before placing a soft kiss on his forehead with an audible smooch.

Since kissing had become such a frequent occurrence, Damien was starting to get used to it. Honestly, he realized, it was just a joy for him to be able to kiss Augusto like this.

Augusto, too, seemed to be getting accustomed to receiving these "reward kisses." So, Damien figured it was fine to continue.

"Th-thank you, brother," Augusto murmured, his face now flushed with embarrassment instead of tears.

Damien reached out and held Augusto’s hand gently. At the same time, Yor grabbed Augusto’s other hand with a cheerful grin.

"Shall we go?" Damien asked. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"Let’s go, Augusto!" Yor added enthusiastically.

"...Ah... y-yes..." Augusto replied, still a bit shy.

And so, the three of them walked together, hand in hand, catching up to the others with smiles and laughter.

Behind Theo’s house, in the forest bordering the backyard, everyone had gathered in the open clearing.

It was called a clearing, but it was nothing more than a simple vacant lot—just a "wide open space" with nothing remarkable about it.

"Um, is this the place we talked about?"

Since everyone was engaged in their own tasks, Damien approached Theo and Sebas, who were poring over a set of blueprints together.

When Damien glanced at Elyon, who stood nearby, the hand of Augusto, still clasped in his own, tensed again.

Damien gave Augusto’s hand a gentle squeeze, reassuring him, and Augusto responded by squeezing back.

Standing protectively in front of Augusto was Yor, as dependable and gallant as ever.

"Yes, this will be the site where your mansion is built," Elyon replied to Damien’s question, his gaze drifting briefly to Yor’s protective stance with an amused smile.

Despite Elyon’s slender frame and youthful appearance, moments like this reminded Damien that Elyon was, indeed, a 600-year-old adult.

"Originally, I intended to build it much closer to the front entrance of my mansion," Theo explained. "But my Teacher insisted, ’It must be near the forest,’ so this location was chosen."

Recalling the layout of Theo’s estate, Damien realized this spot was indeed quite remote.

Not only was it far from the main entrance of the mansion, but even the estate’s front gate—set into the surrounding wall—was practically on the opposite side of the property.

"Um, is this really okay? Building it here?"

"Hmm, well," Sebas began, "there’s another public road on the far side of the forest that was separate from the one that connects to our main gate."
