Help, I'm in Another World and All the Men Are So Hot! [BL]-Chapter 72: Surprise
"I see... I didn’t realize it was like that," Damien muttered. Being a noble sounded more complicated than he had imagined.
"But still... isn’t five attendants too many? I get that one person like Sebas might be too much, but maybe two would be enough?" Damien suggested, hoping to at least reduce the number.
"Hmm... well," Theo hesitated, looking thoughtful.
"The truth is, the four boys—excluding Lupusregina—are probably being groomed to become your future retainers. They’re a bit young to just be attendants, so I think Sebas has bigger plans for them," Theo explained.
"My retainers? You mean like personal servants?"
"Not exactly. They would be more like your direct subordinates, similar to how Sebas is to me," Theo clarified.
"Oh... wait, that’s even worse! I don’t need retainers!" Damien exclaimed, panicking at the thought of having such a responsibility.
Theo couldn’t help but chuckle at Damien’s reaction.
"Well, that’s Sebas’s plan, not mine. Even if you told him to stop, he’d probably just call them ’servants’ and continue as usual," Theo said, smiling apologetically.
"But still, isn’t five too many, even for servants?" Damien asked, trying once more to reduce the number.
"Not necessarily. I might rarely travel outside, but I always have at least three servants with me when I go out. If you consider shifts and replacements, five is actually a reasonable number," Theo explained.
Damien remembered seeing several servants around when Theo had visited the knight’s station. It seemed that was just how things worked here.
"Alright, I guess that’s just how it is. I’ll try to get used to it," Damien sighed. "But if any of them don’t want to do it, promise me you’ll let them switch out, okay?"
"Of course. I promise not to force anyone," Theo said with a bright smile.
Reassured, Damien resolved to try his best to be a good master to his new attendants. Though the idea still felt heavy, he accepted that it was part of the life he now led.
Still, the weight of responsibility lingered in his mind.
...
"What do you mean, I wasn’t told about this!?"
In front of Damien, Leonide and the other four attendants that were assigned to him were standing there, looking awkward and unsure of what to do. They glanced at Damien, then at Sebas, and then exchanged nervous looks with each other, clearly unsettled by the irregular situation they found themselves in.
Damien, too, was confused and couldn’t fully grasp the situation. He needed a moment to gather his thoughts.
...
It all started when Theo had led Damien to the bathroom earlier that day.
"This is my private bath. You might come here on your own one day, so remember the way," Theo said as he guided Damien to the second floor.
The private bath was on the opposite side of the mansion from Damien’s room, which was located on the far right of the second floor. To get there, they crossed the central staircase and reached the far left. It was a very private part of the house—Theo’s personal quarters, including his bedroom and private rooms, were also on this side.
Theo even showed Damien his bedroom briefly, and it was extravagant, to say the least—filled with shimmering gold accents.
"It’s not really to my taste. I don’t find it very relaxing," Theo admitted with a wry smile.
"Anyway, Sebas’s waiting for us, so let’s go in."
Theo opened the door and stepped into the bathroom, with Damien following close behind. However, the room they entered was not the bath itself, but a large, luxurious dressing area.
That wasn’t too surprising—Damien hadn’t expected to walk straight into the bath. But the size and opulence of the room were overwhelming. It was nothing like the small, functional washrooms he was used to back on Earth. This dressing room was very big, complete with ornate furniture along the walls—expensive-looking wardrobes and a vanity with a large mirror.
Damien couldn’t help but wonder, with his commoner’s mindset, whether all that furniture wouldn’t get damaged by the humidity.
"Sebas, sorry to keep you waiting," Theo called out, snapping Damien out of his awe.
Standing in the dressing room, waiting for them, was Sebas. And behind him were the four attendants, including Leonide. The same attendants Theo had hinted might become Damien’s personal servants.
Damien made eye contact with Leonide, and for a moment, he wanted to apologize for earlier. But he remembered Theo’s advice to "forget about it for both your sakes" and managed to keep quiet.
While the other attendants avoided Damien’s gaze, Leonide was staring at him intensely. It wasn’t just a glance—Leonide was really staring at him.
Wait, was Leonide glaring at him? Was he angry? It certainly seemed like it.
"Whitlock," Sebas’s stern voice interrupted. Immediately, Leonide looked away, lowering his head in a fluster.
Damien marveled at how Sebas, without even glancing behind him, had noticed Leonide’s behavior. Sebas’s awareness was sharp.
Leonide, now on the verge of tears, looked as if he was about to break down. Damien felt a pang of guilt—it was indirectly his fault, after all, and he couldn’t help but feel sorry for the boy.
"Sebas, um, who are they?" Damien asked, trying to change the awkward atmosphere by voicing the question that had been on his mind.
"As I introduced earlier today, these are Leonide, Lysander, Lucian, and Lorenzo. They will be assisting with your bath today, Sir Damien," Sebas said with his usual calm demeanor, and the four attendants bowed deeply in unison.
"Assisting... with my bath?" Damien repeated, still not understanding.
"Wait, no one told me about this!" he exclaimed in disbelief.

And that’s how Damien found himself at the beginning of this situation.
He protested loudly to Sebas, while the four attendants fidgeted nervously, clearly unsure how to handle the situation. Damien felt a bit bad for them, but he was completely overwhelmed and needed some time to sort out his own confusion.
What did "assisting with the bath" even mean?
