Help! the four Alpha's are obsessed with me.-Chapter 198 Hunted memory.
As Mr. and Mrs. Swift departed from the house, only Lady Bradford, her daughter, and the remaining Lancaster family were left in the room.
"Getting on my nerves really makes you all happy, doesn’t it?" Daniel asked, his eyes burning as he looked at the woman who had spent the last hour trying to advertise her daughter like a piece of meat.
"I’m talking to you, woman! What part of the words ’I am married’ do you not understand? Draven is no one’s but mine. What is so hard to comprehend that you dumb rocks can’t get it?" He yelled, but immediately forced himself to calm down. He shouldn’t treat this like a lunatic; there was a much easier solution to this mess.
"I guess spending some quality time with my father and mother in a cell will enlighten you. I don’t need your fucking help in my marriage. So, bye."
As if on cue, Xylander left Daniel’s embrace and walked to the door, throwing it open to let in a squad of armed officers. Lady Bradford stood paralyzed, her confusion deepening by the second. Her daughter Beatrice, still struggling with her bandages, looked even more terrified than her mother.
"What is this arrant nonsense?" Lady Bradford asked, her voice trembling with rising fear.
Daniel giggled, a cold, sharp sound.
"So, now you’re afraid? When you both decided to stalk me, you didn’t think it through. Well, Officer, this young woman was told clearly by my husband that he isn’t interested in marriage and that he is gay. But guess what she kept doing?" Daniel stated firmly.
"She kept stalking me. I don’t feel safe with my family when she and her mother go to such lengths to track where I live and what I do. So, I decided to take action."
Upon hearing the statement of arrest, the officer and his team—who knew Lady Bradford and her notorious daughter all too well—ushered them toward the exit.
"Lady Bradford, you are hereby arrested for stalking and attempted harm to the victim. You have the right to remain silent; anything you say can and will be used against you."
The words hit like a physical jab. Lady Bradford looked desperately toward Dorothy, but Dorothy immediately turned her face the opposite way, offering no help.
"Officer, this is a scam! I didn’t do anything, they are lying! It’s a big lie!" Lady Bradford shrieked, but the police ignored her protests and hauled her and her daughter away.
"Greet my father for me and tell him we’re praying for his release!" Daniel called out after them as they were forced out the door.
Draven smiled, leaning in to whisper in his ear. "More like praying for his death."
"I concur," Draven added. Daniel laughed so hard at the remark that Xylander had to scoop him up, carrying him bridal-style before he could fall over.
"Oh, Daniel!" Xylander moaned affectionately. Daniel gave him a cheeky smile, content to be carried away by his husband.
Once they were gone, Dorothy began to pace the room in a blind panic. "This is a problem! A very big problem!" She muttered, glancing around as her two grandchildren watched her like an audience hooked on a tragic drama.
"Why are you both staring? And Angelo, why were you so useless? Didn’t you know that when Lady Beatrice was here, you were supposed to go close to her and woo her? Now we’ll lose everything, and it’s all thanks to Daniel!"
Angelo rolled his eyes. How did this involve him, and why was he the one at fault? He was exhausted from standing and couldn’t take another minute of her voice. Without a word, he began walking away.
"What are you doing? Come back here! I am talking about your miserable future!" she screamed. Angelo didn’t even turn back; he climbed toward the servants’ quarters, heading for his room. He was finished with the family drama. Daniel had won as usual, and they had embarrassed themselves in the worst way possible. What could be more humiliating than this?
As he reached his door, he saw someone slumped on the ground. He froze, becoming instantly alarmed. Rushing over, he realized it was Adrian Valez, Daniel’s bodyguard. The man looked incredibly weak and pale.
Angelo wanted to help, but the sheer size of the man terrified him. Adrian was a massive human being, and Angelo felt small in comparison. Carrying him all the way to where Daniel was staying seemed impossible.
Pushing his worry aside, he grabbed Adrian and began dragging him through the long passage that led to the top floor. Before he reached the destination, he heard footsteps and the sound of bags rolling. He caught sight of Daniel bringing a bag out, though Xylander and Draven quickly took over the heavy lifting for him.
Seeing that Daniel was temporarily alone, Angelo dragged the unconscious man the rest of the way until they reached the room. Daniel, not expecting company, was shocked when a body dropped at his feet.
"What! What is this? Who killed him?" Daniel gasped.
Angelo signaled for him to relax. "Calm down, brother. He’s just unconscious, not dead—at least not yet. But he is badly sick or in need of serious medical attention. Just look at his face; it’s terrible."
Daniel hadn’t expected this. He had noticed Adrian hadn’t been himself since being released from captivity, but now the physical toll was undeniable.
"What happened to him? I don’t understand," Daniel whispered, feeling lost. They were supposed to be leaving to check on Alexander and the babies, and the fact that Alex hadn’t called yet was already making him anxious.
"I don’t know the details, but just take him to a hospital. This might kill him; it’s not normal," Angelo relayed. He turned to leave, but Daniel stopped him.
"This side of you is good. Keep it up," Daniel said softly. "I haven’t forgiven your family, but I don’t want to ruin your life. Here’s a tip: get away from them as soon as you can. If you stay, you’re bound to get sucked into their mess one way or another."
Angelo thanked him and walked out. Daniel stood over Adrian with a complicated expression, torn between leaving him to his fate or showing mercy. The man deserved the worst, so why should he pity him?
As he bent down to check the temperature of the unmoving body, his eyes caught sight of a drawing on the floor. In that instant, a flash passed through his mind. He felt as if his forehead might explode; his brain bubbled with sudden, sharp pain.
"Gosh... what was that?" He groaned, sighing heavily as he tried to fight the agony. It came with a devastating force that nearly drove him to slam his head against the floor just to make it stop.
"Get out of my head! Out now!" he screamed.
Draven and Xylander rushed back into the room instantly. "What’s going on? We heard you scream!" Xylander asked, stopping short when he noticed Adrian. "What is he doing here on the floor?"
Draven, seeing a look on Daniel’s face he had never seen before, knelt and took his hands. "Daniel, what is it? What did you see?"
Daniel, visibly trembling, pulled them both into a tight, desperate hug. "Memories... memories I can’t remember are flooding in so fast. They’re so blurry. I saw something scary... I don’t want to see it!"
He broke down into sobs, pulled firmly into Xylander’s embrace. "It’s okay, Dan. We’re here now. The memories won’t haunt you again."
Daniel continued to sniffle, his eyes fixed on Adrian’s body, which still lay unattended on the floor.
