"Now, then... What shall I do with you?" Back in the basement, Yang Ze glanced at the naked middle-aged woman as he thought about how to deal with her. But after thinking for a while, he just shook his head and moved to the second room in the basement.

This was the place that he had been trying his best to avoid. But sooner or later, he had to face it.

Standing in front of the door to the second room, Yang Ze took a deep breath as he calmed himself, and with a gentle push, opened the door.

The moment the door opened, he was hit in the face with a smell that was three parts bloodied and seven parts medicinal. The mixture of those two smells together almost made him throw up. But in the end, he successfully resisted his urge to do so.

Even though he had seen it once and was expecting the bloodied scene in the room, when he saw it once again, he felt like his heart was about to jump out of his throat.

In front of him were the bodies of almost ten children. From the looks of it, they were all girls between the age ten to fifteen. Their bodies just hung up in the air with what looked like meathooks embedded deeply in their backs, holding them up.

Just one glance at them was enough to shake Yang Ze to his very core. Even though he had experienced the brutality of this world firsthand, never before had he faced it this close and on such a scale, especially against the children.

For a moment, he almost wanted to turn around and pat the woman to death, but somehow managed to hold back.

He took a step forward, gradually walking towards the group of children who all seemed to have lost their minds.

Now that he was looking at them up close, his blood ran cold.

Other than their faces and hair, there wasn’t a single part of their body intact. All of them had been skinned alive with a thick paste further pasted upon their bodies, perhaps to prevent them from dying and heal them. There were even some children with missing limbs and eyes.

Yang Ze unconsciously swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he gently freed her from the chains, manifested the most comfortable bed that he could and then raised his hand and placed it on the top of the nearest child. Then, without a single word, used his newly gained healing skill, starling healing.

In that instant, Yang Ze’s hand was filled with a dense array of glittering stars that constantly circulated around the child’s body. Within just a few moments, it engulfed the child’s body, making it look like a piece of glowing star, its intensity even illuminating the dimly lit room.

Yang Ze kept on circulating his internal energy. Although he didn’t know if this healing skill would be able to regrow the limbs, he could only hope for the best.

It wasnt until he was completely out of the internal energy that he finally stopped. Looking in front of him, he saw the body of a child once again, though the healing skill had managed to completely heal her skin; unfortunately, it didn’t manage to regrow her missing limbs.

"What a pity..." Yang Ze shook his head gently before heading towards the next child and repeating the process.

With how long the healing process took and the time it took for him to recover his internal energy, he had to spend almost an entire day healing them.

By the time it was over, even Yang Ze didn’t know how long he had spent in the basement. The only thing that remained constant throughout the time was the sound of heavy rain.

After healing the last child, Yang Ze finally let out a breath of relief. Even though he could’t completely heal them for now, he would be able to do it once he perfected his healing skill further.

"Are you awake?" Now that he was done healing all of them, he returned back to the very first child he healed before asking in a soft voice.

"Hey..." After receiving no reply from her, Yang Ze shook her gently, but to no avail. No matter how much he tried to talk, he didn’t get any response.

He even checked her condition once again, going as far as using his healing skill again, just to make sure there was nothing wrong with her body, but even after that, he didn’t get any response.

"Sigh." With a heavy sigh, Yang Ze looked at her lifeless eyes as he gently rubbed her forehead before throwing a fasting pill in her mouth.

He then repeated the same process with the other girls, but no matter how hard he tried, he just never got any response.

It wasn’t until he tried talking with the last girl that he finally got a reaction.

"Hey, how are yo..." Before Yang Ze could even finish his sentence, he saw the girl’s body twitch as she suddenly jumped up, reached out to grab the nearest crude knife that had cut open her skin countless times and then plunged towards him.

"Eh!?" Yang Ze wasn’t expecting such an extreme reaction out of nowhere. He simply raised his hand, easily grabbing the knife between two of his fingers while glancing at the girl with a confused expression.

The two of them glanced at each other in silence. Whereas Yang Ze’s eyes were filled with confusion, the girl’s eyes were filled with monstrous rage and a murderous intention that could shake the heavens.

She put all her body’s weight forward, wanting to plunge the knife deep into the woman’s heart, but no matter how hard she tried or how much strength she used, the knife caught between those two fingers remained still.

"Are you done?" Watching the child struggling with all her might, Yang Ze couldn’t help but shake his head. How could he not understand the reason behind this extreme reaction? The reflection of a middle-aged woman in the girl’s eyes was enough to tell him everything.

Listening to his tone, the girl’s figure paused for a moment before she plunged her head towards the woman, intending to use her teeth to take a chunk of her flesh with her, but before her head could go any further, it was stopped mid-way with just a finger.

"Okay... I have seen enough." Initially, Yang Ze was hoping to have a proper conversation with the girl, but after her extreme reaction, he just gave up.

Raising his hand, he hit the back of her neck, knocking her unconscious before lifting her frail body and putting her on the bed. It was only then that he let out a sigh of relief.

Amongst the group of children, this girl was the only one with a complete body.

From the looks of it, she was the newest member of this group. And unlike the rest of the children, she was the only one who hadn’t lost all hope and still carried a will to live.

"As for the rest..." He glanced at the remaining children, lying there unresponsive, before shaking his head.

It would be a lie to say that the thought of putting them out of their misery didn’t cross his mind. It did, but he didn’t have the stomach to pull it off.

He just healed them on an impulse, never thinking about what he was going to do next.

Looking at the girl lying unconscious on the bed, he already had a rough idea in his mind of what to do next.

Taking one cursory glance around the room, he walked out of the room once again and sat down in meditation. He wanted to see just how far he could push the Starlight healing technique.

Under the effects of the Enlightenment, it didn’t take him too long to enter a trance as innumerable small stars appeared around him, constantly circling around as if cheering in unison.

Yang Ze didn’t know how long he had been in the state of Enlightenment. By the time he opened his eyes, he was already looking at the door in the distance, separating his room from the next one.

He could see someone constantly trying to unlock it. Without even needing to see, he could already guess who it was.

"She is awake!?" Raising an eyebrow, Yang Ze walked towards the door, unlocked it and stepped in.

The girl was already startled by someone else unlocking from the outside, so she just stepped back, hiding herself in the darkest corner of the room, and the moment the door opened, she simply plunged towards the figure without any hesitation.

"This again?" Seeing the figure of the girl attacking him with a knife once again, Yang Ze couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile before raising his hand and grabbing the knife once again.

He then gently flung the girl away. But the moment the girl landed on her two feet, she once again rushed towards Yang Ze with a facefull of rage, intending to kill him at all costs.

"How about it?" Holding her little figure, which was struggling violently in his arms, Yang Ze spoke softly.

"I have a proposal."

"Listen to me first and then decide if you still want to kill me."

His words finally made the girl stop as she lifted her head to look at him.
