Chapter 259: 259

"What’s your name?"

Yang Ze’s very first sentence made the girl’s eyes narrow in response as she once again plunged her head forward, with her teeth finally grabbing the woman’s left arm that was holding her.

And then, without any hesitation... she bit with all her strength.

But no matter how hard she bit, the expression of the woman holding her didn’t change in the slightest. She merely kept on looking at her ridiculous efforts of wanting to hurt her.

Yang Ze even had to purposefully restrain his internal energy; otherwise, a sliver of his internal energy that protected his body would have been enough to explode the girl into pieces.

But even with his restrained internal energy, he wasn’t hurt in the slightest. He merely felt like a soft, warm sensation on his arms as the girl tried her best to tear a piece of him.

"You..." With her constant reacting like this, Yang Ze was getting annoyed, but thinking about the horrors she had faced, he held back his thoughts and merely let out a sigh, letting the girl do as she pleased.

It wasn’t until almost ten minutes passed that the girl finally stopped, raised her head and looked at the woman’s face with deep hatred, wanting to etch her appearance into her mind.

"Are you done now?" Yang Ze asked before raising his hand and gently flicking her forehead, making her hold her forehead in pain.

"What’s your name?" Yang Ze repeated the question once again, but just like before, received no reply.

"Where are you from?"

"....."

"How old are you?"

"..."

"Do you have a family?"

"..."

"Can you speak?"

"..."

No matter what Yang Ze asked her, the only answer he got was absolute silence. The girl’s eyes never left his face as she kept on staring at him with a deadpan expression and eyes full of hatred.

"Forget it." Shaking his head, Yang Ze stood up, stretched his body and then threw a bottle of fasting pills towards her.

"This is a fasting pill." He spoke in an incomparable soft voice. "One can keep you full for almost two weeks."

"Take one if you feel hungry. I have already fed you all one, so you all should be fine for now."

After giving her one last set of instructions, he simply walked out of the room before shutting the door.

The girl’s eyes never left his back as she kept on staring at his figure till the very end. Even when he shut the door, she didn’t move from her initial position and stood there like a statue.

—---------------

"What a mess." Once back in the other room, Yang Ze couldn’t help but rub his forehead gently before picking up the talisman book from the table. He hadn’t forgotten about the so-called Annual gathering that was going to take place a few days later.

Since he had decided to take over the identity of Sun Qiao, he needed to play the part perfectly.

Even now, he was taking a huge risk by using her appearance.

His illusion could only fool the eyes, not the sense of touch. Even though his current appearance was that of a tall woman in her late forties, it was, after all, an illusion.

His true height was still short, and if one were to use their hands to touch his illusory face, their hands would simply pass through it.

Without any skill to change his body structure and size, he could only rely on illusion.

"I really need to think of a way." Yang Ze didn’t know how long it was going to work. Initially, he didn’t have any trouble with this arrangement, but after learning about the annual gathering, he was already trying to find a way to remedy the situation. He didn’t know whether he could skip it or not, but if he were to go there like this, he would definitely come in contact with another person, and in that case, the chances of someone touching him were pretty high.

"I..." thinking for a moment, Yang Ze’s eyes were stuck on the talisman book as he made a decision.

"I will just skip the annual gathering and, if asked, will just give the excuse of making a breakthrough in the studies."

With his enlightenment talent, he was absolutely sure that he could make definitive progress in the talisman-making. In that case, he could simply give the excuse of being in seclusion and presenting his breakthrough when asked further.

This way, he wouldn’t have to worry about blowing his cover.

The more Yang Ze thought about it, the more perfect the plan seemed.

Taking a deep breath, he regulated his breathing and closed his eyes before thinking about the most important topic that he had been avoiding till now.

"What talent to upgrade?"

This question was akin to the weight of a mountain pressing down on him.

His first thought was to upgrade his Enlightenment talent to red. This was his most powerful talent and the one that had helped him the most. Without it, Yang Ze would still have been at the realm of body tempering or at most, pulse opening.

But then again... The talent Persistence(Purple) played an equal part as well.

As long as he persisted, he would gain results. This was why he never faced any bottlenecks in his cultivation. The only problem he ever faced was the lack of resources.

If he were to upgrade it to red talent, just what would the outcome be?

The more he thought about it, the more rapid his breathing got.

"Then there is Inverted Wail..." The talent that could disrupt the opponent’s intel energy flow.

But there were also, Tempest Call(Purple) that let him summon a cyclone, Windborne(Green) that lets him fly in the air, Sky Weave(Blue) that lets him manifest a wind barrier, Breeze Echo(blue) that was more like a radar skill, letting him sense people in a radius of two hundred meters and then finally, there was the Cutter Gale Winds(Blue) that lets him summon wind blades.

Every skill was useful in its own way, even though he almost never used the Breeze Echo and Skye Weave; it didn’t diminish their importance in the slightest. No one knows when the skills might play their roles.

"Should I just upgrade a skill to gold?"

"Or should I directly upgrade a skill to red?"

Yang Ze thought for a long time, unable to come to a decision. Although he could get a ’Red’ talent, the cooldown will be almost six months, and if hejust upgrade to ’Gold’, although the cooldown will be that of a month, the talent wouldn’t be in its most powerful state.

Yang Ze thought for an extremely long time before gritting his teeth and gazing at his personal panel while muttering to himself.

"Lin Meilin... oh Lin Meilin... you better pay me back for the time lost."

His gaze locked onto the talent ’Illusion master’ as he made up his mind.

Even though he could skip the Annual gathering and then come up with an excuse, it would undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows and, in extreme cases, more suspicion. Especially when he had killed that wretched woman and sealed her body in her own house. It was just a matter of time before it was discovered.

In that case, he truly could’t take any risk.

Before visiting the Imperial city, he wasn’t worried in the slightest. As per his understanding, with the strength of a peak Vein Expansion realm, he was the strongest being in the entire Yan Kingdom. But after the feeling of trepidation when he looked at the royal palace, he wasn’t so sure anymore.

"Upgrade it to gold or red?" He wasn’t sure just how effective the upgraded version of Illusion master was going to be, but he was willing to take a bet. If it worked, then he wouldn’t have to worry too much about his future actions, and if it failed... he could just run away without completing the mission. Although the lesson Lin Meilin was trying to teach him was important, his life was even more important.

"Gold it is then." After hesitating for a long time, he finally made a decision. Even though he wanted to upgrade it to red, they didn’t want to waste six months. Especially not when he was in the imperial city. What if he came across an extremely good talent?

He still remembered the frustration after meeting the Primordial Earth Sovereign when he evolved the Spiritwing.

That was the only existence he had ever seen with golden talents. He still regrets not being able to use his sign-in to this day.

He didn’t want to face a similar situation again in case he came across someone with suitable talents.

Without wasting another second, he took in a deep breath and muttered to himself.

"Upgrade Illusion Master to Gold."

The moment he said those words, the screen in front of him blurred for a moment before Yang Ze suddenly fell into a trance.

He found himself silently floating in an empty space with nothingness. He tried to move, but couldn’t. The only thing he could do was float aimlessly. He had forgotten who he was, where he came from or what he was doing before.

His mind was blank as he kept on floating around aimlessly.

After what felt like an eternity, Yang Ze finally saw a figure sitting in the distance.

From the looks of it, it seemed to be the figure of a woman who was sitting with her head between her legs.

Yang Ze tried to take a good look at her face, but couldn’t see anything.

The woman, too, seemed completely oblivious to Yang Ze’s presence as she just sat there in silence.

After a long time, she gently raised her hand and flicked it in front of her and with that, the empty space began to tremble violently, as if it was going to shatter.

Yang Ze, in his trance state, saw how a small flick of her finger made the entire space almost fall apart, and before he could react, a large piece of land suddenly appeared beneath him that was quickly overrun with plants and trees. Then mountains, rivers, lakes, oceans, all appeared one after another.

But it didn’t just stop there. In the next moment, a bright ball of light appeared in the sky above, illuminating the entire space and just behind it, innumerable flickering stars.

And then, slowly by slowly, numerous lifeforms began to appear one by one.

Ants, rabbits, cats, fish... everything that Yang Ze had seen and even more exotic creatures that he couldn’t recognise appeared one after another.

Yang Ze watched everything in silence as the figure of the girl gradually began to blur, and before Yang Ze could understand what was going on, everything around him blurred, becoming a single dot of light that shot towards Yang Ze’s forehead.

"Fuck..."

This was the last thought in his mind before he lost consciousness.

—--------------

Yang Ze didn’t know how long he had been unconscious for. By the time he came back to his senses, he felt something poking him in the chest.

"Umm!?" Opening his eyes in confusion, Yang Ze tried to gather his thoughts, but his mind was all over the place. He couldn’t remember what just happened. The last thing he remembered was upgrading his talent to gold and then...

"UGh..." Feeling a splitting headache, Yang Ze rubbed the corner of his head.

His sudden movement seemed to have stopped the thing pocking on his chest. But that was only for a moment before he felt something poking his chest again.

"What the..." He finally opened his eyes in annoyance, and the moment he saw what was happening, his eyes narrowed into slits, and he almost shook his head in defeat.

On his chest, there was a small figure sitting with a knife in her hand as she constantly lifted it up and smashed it down on his chest.

Because he had tied up the original Sun Qiao with ropes, stuffed her mouth with clothes and used illusion to hide her figure, the little girl wasn’t able to see her.

So, when she unlocked the door and saw the person she hated to her bones lying there unconscious, her first action was to rush forward and try to strangle that bitch to death.

But the moment her hands tried to grab her neck, they passed through it.

She didn’t know what was happening or how, but this didn’t stop her from finding a knife and trying to stab the woman who had ruined her life.

"...." Yang Ze looked at her futile attempt of trying to kill him as he shook his head before grabbing her by the collar, lifting her and throwing her inside the other room once again.

This time, he manifested a long wooden board to prevent the door from opening.

It was only then that he let out a sigh of relief, rubbed his aching forehead and sat down.

"Now then..." Looking at his personal panel upon which Illusion Master has an addition [Gold] behind it, he controlled the excitement in his heart, raised his hand and waved it again... wanting to see the effects of the newly upgraded talent.
