Tyler's POV
My mom and I immediately turned away from each other, acting natural.

The driver glanced at us suspiciously but didn't say anything.
""Put on your seatbelt," the driver said, his voice flat.
I quickly shoved the burner phone deep into my pocket, making sure it was hidden. My fingers brushed against the fabric, reassuring myself that it was still there.
The car roared to life, and we sped off. I glanced around, my pulse steady but my mind alert. As expected, the other cars followed closely behind. Declan's security was everywhere—watching, tracking, making sure no one slipped out of his control.
The ride to the house wasn't long. It was quiet, tense, and over too fast.
When we arrived at Declan's massive estate, my mother and I stepped out first, waiting for the others to arrive. I stole a quick glance at my pocket, subtly checking to make sure the phone was still there. It was.
Soon, the rest of the cars pulled in, and everyone climbed out. Logan trailed behind Declan, his father walking beside them. Declan's new wife clung to him like he was the only thing keeping her upright. It was pathetic.
Declan led us inside like we were some big, happy family. The long dining table was already set, food arranged perfectly, as if this whole dinner was some kind of show.
We sat down, but no one really talked.
Except for Declan and Logan's dad.
The two of them were deep in conversation, laughing like old friends. The sound grated on my nerves. Meanwhile, the rest of us ate in silence, trapped in this awkward, suffocating atmosphere.
It felt like an eternity before the meal was finally over.
I didn't wait for anyone. I pushed my chair back, ready to escape to my room.
But then—
"Tyler, son," Declan called out, stopping me in my tracks. His voice was smooth, too smooth, like he was trying too hard to sound fatherly. "Could you help me with something?"
I clenched my jaw, exhaling sharply.
"Can we skip the fake father-son bonding and just get to the point?" I shot back, my tone laced with irritation.
The room fell silent.
Good. Let him feel embarrassed. Let him know that no one was buying this act.
Declan cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably. "Logan and his father will be staying the night," he finally said. "We have a lot to discuss—old memories to catch up on."
I narrowed my eyes. "And that concerns me how?"
Declan hesitated, swallowing hard.
Then he dropped the bomb.
"Logan will be staying in your room for the night. Make him feel comfortable."
"What?!"
Logan and I spoke at the same time, both of us looking equally horrified.
The entire dining room fell silent. Every pair of eyes landed on us, filled with confusion and curiosity.
"Is there a problem?" Logan's dad asked, his voice calm.
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. My mind was a complete mess.
How?
Why?
Wasn't there enough space in this godforsaken house?
Why did Logan have to stay in my room of all places?
Damn it.
This couldn't be happening.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I completely forgot to respond to Logan's dad.
Logan, clearly as uncomfortable as I was, quickly turned to his father. "Isn't there another room for me? I don't want to disturb Tyler."
Declan cut him off with a scoff. "That's the same excuse you gave in the car. I don't buy it." His gaze flickered between the both of us, suspicion creeping into his eyes.
Logan's dad sighed, rubbing his temple. "I know why you two are acting like this."
Immediately, Logan and I stiffened. Our eyes snapped toward him in alarm.
Did he know?
No. That was impossible.
Right?
But then the words left his mouth, and I nearly sagged in relief.
"It's because Logan kissed Tyler's girlfriend," he said, shaking his head as if it were some trivial matter. "That's why there's tension between them. They had a fight over it."
The room suddenly felt suffocating.
It was ridiculous—hilarious, even—that they thought this was about Alexis.
Sure, Logan had kissed her, but that wasn't what made me react this way.
Still, at least they weren't suspecting the real reason behind our outburst. That was a plus.
Logan's dad continued, "I already told Logan what he did was wrong, but it seems Tyler still hasn't forgiven him."
Declan sighed dramatically before waving a hand dismissively. "You two are acting like idiots. Fighting over a woman? That's pathetic." His tone carried disappointment. "That's why spending the night together is the best option. You two need to sort this out and move on."
Sort it out?
Move on?
Yeah, right.
I knew then and there that there was no changing his mind. Declan had made his decision, and arguing would only make me look suspicious.
Logan's dad turned to me, his eyes filled with quiet pleading. "Tyler, I think it's time you let this go. Just forgive each other and get it over with, alright?"
I barely managed to nod. I wasn't agreeing—I was just accepting that I had no other choice.
Turning to Logan, I muttered, "I'm going to bed. You can follow me or come later."
Logan let out a breath. "Thanks, Tyler. I'll come up in a bit. Just want to sit here for a while."
I didn't respond. Without another word, I walked away, ignoring the way Declan's gaze lingered on me.
A maid followed behind me, keeping her head down. I knew she was probably assigned to guide me to my room since I hadn't quite memorized the way yet.
I didn't bother asking my mom where she would be sleeping. Doing that would only raise suspicion. And besides, I knew she would find a place, no matter what.
The walk to the room felt unnecessarily long, filled with silence. The maid didn't dare speak, and I had no intention of making small talk.
When we finally reached the room, I gave her a small nod before stepping inside.
I didn't bother locking the door—Logan was coming, whether I liked it or not.
The first thing I did was strip off my clothes. The burner phone was still tucked inside my pocket, so I carefully folded my clothes together, making sure the phone was hidden. No way was I letting Logan find it.
Then, I headed straight for the shower.
The hot water cascaded down my body, washing away the exhaustion from today's events. I let myself stand there for a while, allowing the steam to clear my mind.
After what felt like forever, I finally turned off the faucet.
Reaching for a towel—
Shit.
I left it in the room.
With an annoyed sigh, I stepped out of the bathroom, completely naked, heading toward my closet.
And that was when the door opened.
