Chapter 64- Bittersweet Forgiveness
Tyler's POV
"Let's be realistic, Tyler. We both know you haven't forgive him."
"You just told me those words so I can stop talking to you about it."
I was already tired of hearing my mom talk about Logan — Logan this, Logan that.
Since I stepped foot into this house, that was the only thing coming out of her mouth.
I didn't come back to have a long-ass conversation about Logan's offense, Logan's apology, or Logan's forgiveness.
I came back home because there were important issues on ground — life-threatening issues that could get us both killed if we didn't act fast.
But instead of having that conversation, this woman was busy trying to force Logan down my throat like some fucking medicine I didn't want to swallow.
I clenched my fists, trying to hold back the frustration bubbling inside me.
I've been keeping it together for hours, letting her ramble without snapping, but she was really pushing me to the edge.
When she said she knew I was lying — that I only agreed to forgive Logan just to shut her up — I couldn't take it anymore.
I let out a bitter chuckle, shaking my head.
"Wow, mom... you really don't know when to stop, do you?"
She blinked at me, surprised by the sudden switch in my tone.
"You didn't really expect me to just forgive Logan on the spot and actually mean it, did you?" I asked, my voice low and sharp.
I watched her lips part like she wanted to argue, but I didn't give her the chance.
"You think I can just snap my fingers and act like everything he did to me never happened?" I scoffed.
"Mom, that guy messed up my head. He made me feel like shit. He betrayed me... and you expect me to forgive him just like that?"
"Tyler—"
"No!" I cut her off.
I was done pretending like I wasn't pissed off.
"If you really want me to forgive Logan, why can't you give me the time to think about it? Why are you shoving this forgiveness nonsense down my throat every fucking second?"
I stared at her, waiting for an answer... but she just stood there quietly.
The silence only made me angrier.
I took a step forward, my voice dropping lower.
"If only you knew what Logan really did... you wouldn't even open your mouth to say a damn word about forgiveness."
Her brows furrowed in confusion, but I wasn't finished.
"It seems you were never ready to talk about any other thing from the start... that's why you've been hammering this forgiveness topic into my skull non-stop."
I chuckled bitterly.
"You wanted us to spend the whole day talking about Logan, right? That's what you've been aiming for all along, huh?"
Her eyes widened at the accusation.
"Huh, Tyler... that's not what I meant—"
I shot my hand up, cutting her off mid-sentence.
"Just shut up, mom."
She went silent immediately, her mouth slightly open.
I saw the hurt flash in her eyes, but at that moment, I didn't care.
"You're so damn selfish."
Her lips trembled, but I kept going.
"You're always thinking about someone else... always defending people that don't deserve it. But when it comes to your own son... you suddenly forget how to take sides."
I clenched my jaw, the anger bubbling hotter inside me.
"Tell me something, mom... why is it so hard for you to accept that I need time to process everything? Why is it so difficult for you to just listen to me for once?"
She shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Tyler... it's not like that—"
"Then what is it like?!" I snapped.
"Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're trying to manipulate me into forgiving him just because he's going to help us this period."
Her mouth opened and closed like she was trying to come up with an excuse, but I wasn't buying that shit anymore.
"You know what, mom?" I smirked coldly.
"You're no different from Logan."
Her eyes widened.
"You both know how to play the victim card when it suits you."
"Tyler, don't you dare talk to me like that—"
"Or what?" I cut her off, taking another step forward.
"You'll work with Logan on my next relationship so my next girlfriend can cheat on me too?"
Her mouth fell open, completely speechless.
I let out a dark chuckle, shaking my head.
"Yeah... I thought so."
The room fell into dead silence.
For a moment, neither of us said anything.
Then I felt her warm hands grab mine gently, squeezing them.
"Baby... you're misunderstanding me." Her voice was soft now, almost pleading.
"That wasn't what I meant."
I wanted to snatch my hand away... but something about the way she was holding me made me freeze.
"I swear, Tyler... I wasn't trying to force you. I just... I just wanted you to forgive him because..."
She swallowed hard.
"Because Logan is going to play an important role in our lives this period... and whether you like it or not... we need him."
My heart clenched at her words.
I hated that she was right.
I hated that Logan was the only one we could rely on right now.
I looked down at her hands, still wrapped around mine.
Her fingers were trembling.
As much as I hated to admit it...
I was overreacting.
I sighed deeply, closing my eyes for a second.
When I opened them, I nodded slowly.
"Fine... I'll forgive him."
Her eyes lit up immediately.
"But..." I added quickly.
"It's going to be a gradual process... not something that will happen overnight."
She smiled faintly, nodding.
"That's all I wanted to hear."
Another wave of silence passed between us before I finally spoke again.
"Now... can we talk about what I really came here for?"
Her face stiffened instantly.
I was about to bring up Declan and the plan to run away when she suddenly pressed her finger against her lips, signaling me to shut up.
My brows furrowed.
"We're being watched," she whispered.
I froze.
How the fuck did I not notice?
She leaned closer, lowering her voice even more.
"We'll talk about it tomorrow... or the day after... when I'm sure the coast is clear."
I swallowed hard, nodding slowly.
She was right.
We couldn't afford to slip up right now.
"Okay," I muttered.
Without another word, she helped me carry my traveling box to my room.
The moment I hit the bed, my body sank into the mattress like a dead weight.
But no matter how tired I was...
Sleep refused to come.
My mind kept replaying everything that happened today — Logan's betrayal, my mom's constant nagging... everything.
Maybe I really was being too harsh on Logan.
He had been apologizing for days...
Maybe I should just forgive him and get it over with so he would stop bugging me.
It's not like we were going to date or anything.
I didn't even have feelings for him.
I just wanted him off my back.
Sighing, I reached for my phone and dialed his number.
He picked up on the fifth ring.
"Hello... who's this?"
I froze.
He didn't even check the caller ID?
"It's me," I said quietly.
There was a long silence on the other end.
Then I took a deep breath.
"I'm calling because of my mom... she wants me to forgive you."
Another silence.
I swallowed hard.
"So... I forgive you."
I expected to hear relief in his voice... maybe even gratitude.
But instead...
He scoffed.
Then I heard the words that made my blood run cold.
"How about you shove that stupid forgiveness up inside your ass and get an orgasm for it?"
I froze.
My heart stopped beating for a second.
What... the fuck?
