His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 318: Feeling Of Resentment.
Chapter 318: Feeling Of Resentment.
Tears stood by the corner of Beatrice’s eyes when Arissa said that. She began to feel a void in her heart. A void only her daughter could fill up.
Ever since she recovered from the surgery, she has avoided asking Stephan questions about their daughter. More years have been added to her life and she decided to live in the moment together and happily with Stephen rather than spend her remaining days wallowing in the loss of her daughter.
However, that doesn’t mean she would stop searching for her daughter. Even with gray hairs, she would keep on searching for her daughter but this time with hope and faith.
She now believed in the God her husband prays to and she would follow that footsteps with faith.
Thinking about Laura, she realized that luck has always been an element of life in Laura’s life. Her friend got two kids and could still reproduce more. This one standing before her was an epitome of her beauty and she believes the other one would also break the scale of beauty.
It warms her heart each time she sees girls around her daughter’s age. It gives her a little hope that her daughter could also be out there and they’ll meet one day.
One more time, thoughts about her mother filled Arissa’s mind and she wondered how her mother should be served justice. She wondered if the woman was watching the news and what she could be doing right now after watching the news.
Just as Arissa’s mind was filled with that thought, there was a soft quiet knock on the door.
Arissa raised her brow and faced Mr. Wyatt. The man returned her questioning look and when the knock repeated itself, he ordered the person to come in.
Arissa glued her eyes to the door, waiting for whoever wanted to come in. A place in her heart hoped it was Nicklaus but that was impossible. He said he had work to complete at home and with the look Stephen returned, it was obvious he wasn’t expecting anyone. If so, she hoped that whoever was at the door should be someone with good intentions.
"Come in," Stephen ordered.
Slowly, the door pulled open from the inside and a bunch of little flowers appeared first before the person holding it walked in.
Beatrice’s eyes held shine in them when she saw who finally came to visit her. Meanwhile, Arissa froze, she became paled and unable to breathe. She carefully took her fists off Beatrice’s hold and clenched them tightly.
Stephen had a neutral expression on his face. Although he never expected Laura to come visit them considering the fact he had been trying to reach out to her for the longest time possible.
Seeing her now walking through the door, he wondered what led her here. Collins on the other hand focused on Arissa’s emotions when her mother walked in.
Laura muted when she saw her daughter seated in the ward. She blinked, doubting she saw properly but after multiple blinks, the face of the person seated on the bed never changed.
It was her Arissa seated there and her heart leaped a thousand times. They held each other gaze and the only emotion Arissa felt at that moment was hate.
The hate ran strong through her bones and her hands itched to throw her so-called mother out of the ward after slapping her.
Well, contrary to how she felt, she forced a warm smile out of her lips and welcomed, "Mother,"
She fixed her eyes on the flowers her mother came in with. Dreed covers her when she imagines something dangerous from her mother being attached to those flowers. She fixed her eyes on the flowers more than necessary and Collins noticed all.
Laura’s hands fidgeted. She could feel the presence of resentment coming from Arissa’s voice but even at that, hearing that title from Arissa once again made her feel alright.
She knew she didn’t deserve it but she couldn’t help it. The feeling was divine and she decided to enjoy it while it lasted.
"Arissa," she chuckled, almost close to tears but she kept her voice steady and avoided breaking down.
Also, she wondered what Arissa could be doing here. She wondered how Arissa knew about the couple. Wait, if Arissa already knows about this couple and could see the striking resemblance between Adele and her mother, could it be that she already told them about Adele?
If so why was Beatrice still smiling at her? She knew Stephen to be soft-hearted but she doubted he would still be seated so calmly staring at her if he knew she was the one who made their years of parenthood wasted and miserable.
She walked closer to the bed and with each step she took, her heart clenched tightly, seeing Arissa looking so calm with a welcoming smile on her lips.
Laura got to Arissa, placed the flowers on the lampstand, and stood before her daughter. She lifted her hands to reach for her daughter’s face.
She missed the soft feeling that comes with it and she wanted to experience it over and over again even after seeing the hate in Arissa’s eyes.
Arissa saw her mother reaching for her face and before the woman could reach for her face, she turned to Stephen and with a small nod, she excused herself from the ward.
She can’t let the couple know about their bad blood so leaving the ward became a better option.
"Laura,"
Arissa heard Beatrice’s voice welcoming her mother as she left the ward. She was tempted to stay and hear whatever lies and watch whatever presence her mother might perform but she couldn’t.
The sight of her mother pierced her skin like a thousand needles and sent her skin and throat hurting like she was set ablaze.
Leaving the ward, she texted Diego to come over. She took a stance beside the door and placed a call over to Nicklaus.
