His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 351: All Planned.
Chapter 351: All Planned.
Logan men jumped out of their seats on high alert when the sound of the explosion hit their ears and trembled the ground beneath them.
The fire alarm came up and immediately, six men rushed towards where the fire came from only to discover it came from the kitchen. Their cook was still in the kitchen when the explosion occurred and this caused him to die on the spot because of how strong the explosion was.
From where Valeria was seated, she watched everything that went on with wide eyes. The rest of Logan’s men immediately returned to their duty spot for fear of any intruder.
Logan kept calm about the whole situation. He turned to Valeria, "I think you have to leave now," he informed her, trying his best to sound light.
Valeria said nothing and just sat there numb with wide eyes. The domestic explosion scared the hell out of her and when she saw the cook dragged out of the kitchen door just beside the dining hall and was now placed directly opposite her, her face turned pale.
The explosion wasn’t a minor one, it was a massive explosion, and the burns on the body of the cook explained it all.
The black smoke got to her and she began to cough. The cough dragged her out of her numb state and that was when she noticed she was already being dragged away by Logan himself.
She can’t even tell when she stood up from her seat and neither could she give an account of how she walked to this point.
Getting to the living room, a safe distance away from the kitchen and dining room, Logan paused for a moment to address Valeria.
"I think you should go home," he used an authoritative voice for her to comply, "I want you to leave at this instant,"
Valeria frowned and turned toward the kitchen, "What was that?" she managed to ask as her body trembled.
Logan placed both hands at the sides of her shoulder to hold her still. Feeling how she trembled under his touch, he pulled her into a tight embrace to comfort her.
"That wasn’t something you should be worried about. That’s a minor accident and we all are safe_"
"No," Valeria murmured, her voice barely a whisper, she added, "The cook lost his life. Is someone after you?"
Logan shook his head and distanced himself from her, tearing away from the hug, "No one is after me. I’d have some of my men join you back home if you are so scared," he said.
Logan tried to doubt his instinct but his instinct didn’t want to be doubted. Even as he assured Valeria, he doubted his words to be true.
"You_"
"Go, Valeria," he shunned her from speaking, "Just leave, and don’t come looking for me until I tell you to," he warned.
Valeria nodded in understanding. Giving the kitchen one last look, she decided to leave. The only help she could offer at the moment was to leave because no one could tell what would happen next.
"Here," one of Logan’s men rushed towards them with Valeria’s purse. Logan had ordered him to fetch it the moment the accident occurred.
Valeria took the purse from the man and rushed off to the entrance of the mansion, leaving only Valeria and his boss in the living room.
Logan raised his left brow at her when she still stood even after receiving her purse. He has to go and check out what happened to cause the explosion and he can’t do that until she leaves.
As much as he had a hunchy feeling about the explosion, he wished the accident to be minor and caused by the cook. If the explosion doesn’t come from the cook, it means he has gotten another intruder and before he turns mad from fury, he intends to make sure she has left his house.
"What_"
Logan wasn’t able to complete his statement as Valeria grabbed his face with both of her palms and slanted her lips across his before he would react to the strange touch.
Logan flinched when their lips latched together. He reached for both sides of her shoulders and in the harshest way possible, he pulled her off himself and tore their lips off each other.
He used the back of his palm to wipe his lips and when he met her eyes, mad emotions flammed in them.
He wasn’t mad about the kiss and he never reacted that way because he could be gay. He wasn’t gay and would never be.
Unexpected kisses weren’t new to him but what was new was Valeria kissing him. Was she alright? How could she grow such feelings, strong enough to kiss him when he took her as a sister and thought she felt the same?
Valeria watched Logan’s negative reaction to the kiss they just shared. She saw thick disgust on his expression and it shattered her heart. If she had not known about his obsession with Mr. Wyatt’s wife, she would have assumed he was gay but at the stand of things now, it was plain his disgust came from her.
Clenching her purse, she nodded at him, "Stay safe," and with those words, she left his sight and hurried out of his house.
Logan clenched and unclenched his fist as he watched her scramble away. He did not blink his eyes until she closed the door behind her and when she did, he wiped his lips one more time before going into the kitchen.
"This was all planned," Vincent reported the moment Logan approached the kitchen.
Logan hummed in thought and questioned, "How do you know that?"
"This," Vincent passed over a mouthpiece to Logan, "The person dropped this and went off to that direction," he pointed towards the barely closed kitchen window. "Our men are already spread out there. We only pray whoever did this hasn’t mingled with people in a crowded place yet,"
Logan fixed the mouthpiece into his pant pocket, "Arrange for the kitchen to be renovated, and come with me," he ordered, walking out of the kitchen.
