Chapter 392: The Nightmare.

Morning came quickly for Arissa. She rubbed her eyes slowly as she struggled for the sleep to free her.

Her hands stretched to her side to hold Nicklaus. A low sigh escaped her lips when she felt nothing about him but soft mattresses.

Arissa’s eyes finally parted and she took in a soft gulp to moisture her throat, "Nick," she mumbled softly and sat up on the bed.

Nicklaus paused what he was doing before the vanity mirror. A smile broke out on his lips and he turned to face her.

"And finally, the queen herself is awake," Nicklaus said in adoration as Arissa sat up on the bed.

Arissa blushed when he titled her a queen. She smiled and combed her hair backward, using her fingers. Nicklaus dropped his comb on the vanity table and rushed to her side.

"How are you this morning?" he asked taking her legs into his hands. He massaged the soles of her feet softly and met her eyes.

Arissa scanned the place. She expected to wake up in the nursery but to her surprise, she woke up on his bed.

She tapped lightly on the bed and let out a beautiful sigh, "I had a pleasant night," she smiled at him.

"You always will," Nicklaus returned her smile. He bent to stomach level and raised her nightdress an inch from her lower abdomen.

"How did my baby sleep?"

Arissa’s body tensed up when he did that - in a good way. She smiled and dug her fingers into his hair.

Arissa rubbed his neck, feeling the softness of his skin. She loves this man so much and he doesn’t fail to give her more beautiful reason to love him more.

She doesn’t want anything in the world but him and their little creature coming. They complete her.

Leaning in slightly, she dropped a kiss on Nicklaus’s hair, "We would always sleep fine with you beside us,"

Nicklaus’s hand on Arissa’s stomach paused for a second. He remained captivated by her reply and in great pride, he raised his face to her face level and kissed her.

She remains his world and he loved the fact that she knew it. He loved the fact that she finally agreed to merge him into her world.

Arissa laughed in the kiss and gently tapped the side of Nicklaus’s arm. Nicklaus chuckled. He playfully trailed the kisses down to her neck and Arissa giggled in protest.

Nicklaus finally stopped the kisses and hovered above her. The glee in his eyes sparkled.

Arissa took notice of his outfit. He wasn’t dressed casually but formally, already in a full suit.

He just needed to fix his buttons and add his suit jacket over his blue inner shirt to be fully dressed. Arissa ran a hand over his buttons, fixing them. "No one could fit in clothes the way you do, my darling husband," there was an air of great possessiveness in her voice as she spoke.

Nicklaus kissed her on her cheek, "I’ll be going for a business trip by noon," his voice came out a bit low. He felt guilty giving her short notice but he also found out an hour ago.

Arissa gave a peak on his lips, "That’s fine, I’ll take care of myself but do not forget to give me a call whenever you can,"

Nicklaus’s expression changed and from the look of it, he seemed as if he wanted to say something serious. Arissa sat up and gulped softly.

"How long would you be gone?"

Nicklaus joined her to sit up and released a low sigh, "Two weeks or a month," Arissa’s face fell at his reply but she quickly masked it with a positive one as she tried not to make him feel bad or want to stay.

Nicklaus read through her mask. His heart clenched and he took Arissa’s hand in his and clenched them together, "You don’t have to be scared, I’ll try my best to finish the project as soon as possible, and when I’m back..." he trailed off and released another low sigh, "When am back, I want us to get married under the watch of everyone immediately,"

Arissa’s eyes widened and a light gasp escaped her lips, "Immediately?" she sounded doubtful.

Nicklaus nodded.

"I thought I’d have to put to birth first," she reasoned, protectively clenching her lower abdomen.

Nicklaus made a thoughtful face and smiled later on, "No baby, I can’t wait anymore,"

"Really?" Arissa teased him.

Nicklaus took her right hand in his and dropped a soft protective kiss on the back of it. "Yes, Love, I can’t wait anymore. I want to put the main ring on your finger earlier,"

Arissa blushed and looked up at the ceiling. She shook her head, folding her lips as she tried not to smile.

Nicklaus rubbed his thumb on her chin, "What do you think?"

Arissa dropped her face and nodded shyly. She tried not to meet his gaze as her whole body down to her toenails turned red.

Nicklaus gasped and pulled her into a tight sandwiching hug. He repeatedly kissed all over her face in excitement.

Arissa was speechless. Excitement burst through her but she had no idea how to show it.

Suddenly, tears rolled down her eyes. She did not mean to spoil their happy moment but she couldn’t keep the unexpected tears in.

"Nick," she called him, her voice breaking, "Nick, wait,"

Nicklaus paused. His happy expression became confused and when he saw her crying, a slight frown covered his face.

"You no longer want to marry me?" he asked, as that was the first reason that he could think of.

Arissa shook her head, "That’s not what my tears mean, Nick," she explained, "I’m happy, extremely happy but I have something to say. Remember I told you last night that I had something to say,"

Nicklaus nodded, "I do."

Arissa held both of his hands and met his dark eyes with her wet ones. She sniffed and continued sobbing.

Nicklaus brought his hand to her face and wiped her tears dry, "Stop the tears so we can talk properly,"

"It... It’s about the nightmare, Nick," Arissa sobbed, "...If you ask me, I would suggest we should not get married_"

Nicklaus heart dropped when she objected to their marriage, "You_"

"Nicklaus listen," Arissa cut him off, "I want to get married to you, I really do and I want to be by your side forever. Even when we wash away in our grave, I want to be with you.." she held his hands together.

"But I can’t," she sobbed and held his gaze straight, "No matter how I try to deny it and act stronger, the fear of the unknown keeps on crowding my mind."
