Chapter 391: Cozy

"Go to hell," Arissa joked and pushed him away from her. She turned to him and used her fist to push him away. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

Nicklaus laughed and caught a hold of her fist. He steadied her and made her look at him before he raised a brow at her, "If I go to hell, would you be joining me?"

Arissa rolled her eyes towards the ceiling, "I’m_" her stomach grumbled, cutting her off her answer.

Nicklaus’s lips curled up into a wide smile, "My baby is so hungry," he snaked his arm around her waist to her back.

Arissa leaned away from his face, "I’m not hungry," she countered, "If you should be going to hell, I_" her stomach rumbled again and her face reddened in embarrassment.

Nicklaus raised a brow at her when he heard her stomach protest once more. Arissa slapped her face with her hand, in an attempt to hide her red face.

Nicklaus chuckled at her cute reaction, "So cute," he released a low chuckle.

Arissa melted to the floor hearing him. She released herself from his hold and sat on the quilt. Nicklaus took off his footwear and joined her.

Nicklaus watched her open the plates and arranged the meal. He released a low sigh and turned his eyes towards the door. "Did he hurt your feelings again?"

Arissa dropped the plate lid she was holding, interlocked their fingers together, and smiled, "He said nothing to hurt my feelings. Rather, I think we managed to build a tiny bond," she told him.

Nicklaus returned his gaze to her. He raised their interlocked hands to his lips and dropped a kiss on her hand. He pressed his lips on her hand, shut his eyes, and said, "A tiny bond? I find that amusing because my father would never do that someone has blandly shown he dislikes."

"That wasn’t dislike. He was only trying to protect you," Arissa explained in deep thought, "You have good parents,"

Nicklaus’s eyelids parted open. He opened her hand and kissed her palm, "You don’t have to say that, you sound jealous,"

Arissa stared at him like he had grown two heads, "Of course I am. They are loving,"

Nicklaus smiled. He carried the tray away from their front and parted his arms wide open.

"Come here,"

Arissa’s eyes sparkled when he spread his arms open. Without wasting a second, she threw herself into his arm and buried her face into his shoulder.

Nicklaus pat her back softly, "I can act like a father to you from time to time," he sounded ready as he contemplated if this was the right time for him to tell her about Mr. Adams’s real identity.

"You enjoy melting me into a puddle and leaving me speechless, don’t you?"

Nicklaus rubbed the back of her neck and replied, "I enjoy doing that but I mean what I said just now. Anytime you feel like you want a parental figure, don’t be shy to come up to me. I’m your husband and I want you to know that am solidly behind you,"

Arissa wrapped her hands around him. In the past, she had always asked God about the unforgivable sin she had committed in her last life for him to fix her with the kind of parents she had but right now, she can’t stop being grateful to him for pushing them to give her out for marriage.

Not just marriage, a sweet one.

"It’s raining," Nicklaus noticed, hearing the soft droplets on the roof. Arissa’s nightwear was pretty decent but not decent enough to protect her from the natural cold that comes with the rain.

His hands around her wrapped her more protectively and he said, "Hold on let me get a duvet from their closet,"

Arissa nodded and gave him the chance he needed. Nicklaus walked away from her and returned with a thick purple duvet.

Seeing him walking towards her, something came up in Arissa’s memory and it made her smile.

"Hold on, Nick," she said vibrantly and dashed towards the children’s closet. She came back to where Nicklaus stood waiting for her with a lighter duvet.

"I’ve always wanted to do this with my dad but he loved his work more," she explained with a childish giggle, "Don’t worry, we ain’t gonna do much. All you have to do is sit with me under the duvets,"

Arissa reached for his hand and dragged him towards the quilt on the floor. She turned to him with a smile and continued, "However, Mr. Adams pardoned me to share this moment with me but it lasted just for a few minutes because my father saw him and when my father saw him, he warned him to stop and even threatened to make him lose his job,"

Nicklaus listened to her and sat down obediently when she pressed both hands on his shoulders for him to sit.

He fixed his eyes on Arissa and enjoyed her beauty mixed with pureness, elegance, and charm. He would never get tired of staring at her.

Arissa threw a duvet over his head and let it fall over him, "Hold that end," she told him.

Nicklaus snapped out of staring at her and immediately held the end she ordered him to hold.

Arissa smiled at him and joined him under the duvet. She folded her legs together and caged herself between Nicklaus’s legs.

"How does this feel?" Arissa asked him with a wide smile, rubbing both sides of her arms.

Nicklaus looked around the small tent she just built. He scoffed with amazement and replied, "It’s cozy, I like it,"

Nicklaus pulled her leg to himself and began to massage her feet. Arissa’s eyes widened. She flashed him a toothless smile and enjoyed his act of service.

"Oh, wait!" Nicklaus paused and drew the tray of food before them, "Let’s get you filled up first,"

Arissa smiled at his words because if how he sounded. He sounded like he was speaking to a precious baby.

She wasn’t a baby but she would forever remain his baby.
