"Oh, I guess you guys really have some nice toys." Steve was elated seeing the collection.

"Humph, stop acting like a fool and chose the first weapon." Peter urged.

"That means you will go first right? But first we have to determine the number of rounds."

"Seven would be enough."

"I am fine with it but are you sure? Seven different weapons what if you forgotten our training."

"Heh, no one can beat me. You have made a big mistake by challenging me this time. I am not the same person you remember."

"We will see."

Meanwhile, Ellie didn't know what was happening so she turned to ask the woman beside her.

"Relax, it's not a dangerous game. They each will select a assortment of pistols from the pile. It's a simple disassemble and assemble game. Whoever is the fastest would win but one had to know how all these different type of guns work making it quite challenging if the opponent chooses something that you aren't familiar with."

"Isn't that man in advantage since his men are the ones to prepare the gun pile?"

"AmYou shouldn't underestimate our captain. He is a weapon master and there is not a single weapon that he haven't mastered over the years. Just see how he destroy that arrogant punk."

"Okay."

Ellie didn't know why Steve's people were so confident in him.

While she talked, they each chose different pistols for the game. Steve chose standard weapons like glock or Sigs but Peter wanted to win so he chose some obscure types like SZs etc. These weapons came from all over the world so there was quite a collection to make things competitive.

A referee was assigned, with so many spectator on both sides it would be hard for Peter to cheat so it didn't matter that the person was from his camp, he told him to be fair.

With a stop watch in hand, he asked if the contestents were ready. Peter went with the Steve's choice, a Glock 17.

Their hands were on the table as they looked at each other waiting for the timer to start.

As soon as they heard the sound, their hands moved with precision. There were even people who were recording the whole thing making the atmosphere more akin to a festival than a match to decide the fate of some girl!

The parts flew in all directions landing on the table in ideal position, with few snaps, Steve was the first to dissemble the pistol but Peter wasn't that behind him.

They started assembling it as soon all parts were removed without taking a rest. It didn't matter who dissembled it first but who did both assembly and dissembly the fastest combined.

Unfortunately for Steve, Peter was faster and finished it with a loud thud beating him by few fraction of a second.

"Yaaaaaah!" Peter was hyped up screaming toward his team who also cheered without restraint.

Steve and his team had gloomy expression but he told them to cheer up. He was just warming up so there was no need to feel defeat in just the first round.

"There is no need to celebrate so early."

"Yeah? That's what a loser will say." Peter was quite proud of himself.

They had been rivals and unfortunately, he didn't get many chances to get one up on Steve which is why it felt so good.

Ellie watched them act like children completely different from the cold and calculative personality they had when they were intereogating her. She started to believe they weren't same people!

The competition continued, the second was even more intense as they went back and forth but at the last second, Peter dropped the ball by misplacing one of the part that made the gun jammed. He would need to completely redo but how could Steve give him that chance?

He finished the round with a resounding success celebrating even more loudly than Peter, he also had more people with him which helped.

The third round went in favor of Peter again but the forth round was won by Steve. They went back and forth for two more rounds making the last round as their decider.

No one would have expected that it would come to this when they started but it showed how well they knew their weapons.

The problem was Peter faced was the weapon for the seventh round was chosen by Steve which put him in a disadvantage.

"What? Are you ready to admit defeat?" Steve teased but Peter didn't indulge him but looked at the weapon carefully.

"Seriously, a Ruger Mk III? Did you bring the safety pin and other necessary tools?" Peter was annoyed. This pistol was notorious for it's complicated design and had two or three critical steps that needs even mallet to hammer away the rear pin if the gun was newly out of the factory.

"Why would I prepare such things? Just ask people around you to find the sufficient tools. Unfortunately for you, I already have these things prepared." Steve grinned gracefully.

"You bastard! This is cheating."

"There is no rule about these things. It was your mistake to overlook it so don't blame me."

Peter understood everything. He had been played since the start, imhe hadn't factored in that Steve knew him pretty well and knew he would agree to his challenge.

Knowing the rules as it didn't change, he purposefully chose this pistol. Peter didn't believe Steve would be clever enough to plan this so it must be Jane who planned this.

Steve gave him no mercy quickly assembling and dissembling the pistol in few minutes, it took a lot longer than other round but by now it wasn't a competition.

"We won!" Steve cheered along with his team brazenly rubbing their wounds with salt.

Peter walked toward him seething with anger. Yet again, he was humiliated by his so called friend, even losing the important bet.

"What? You are not going to go back on your word right?"

"No." Peter admit his mistake handing over Ellie into his custody. Steve quickly took his men and left. This wasn't their territory and after getting away with cheating, he didn't want to risk Peter going back on his promise.

"Who the fuck out that pistol in the stash!?" Peter asked his people furious. They were the ones who prepared everything.

"We didn't check but I am sure it wasn't there. I am responsible for inventory and I am pretty sure we don't have such old weapons in our daily stash."

"You...why didn't you say anything?" Peter was shocked. Not only that bastard cheated but it seemed like he also tampered with the stash. He didn't have any proof but that was the only explanation!

The question now was, how was he going to report this to his superior? He lost the girl and also lost the game.
