Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition-Chapter 2104: Story : The Mark on the Door
The hallway erupted into chaos.
Dozens of gray hands clawed through the doorway, fingers scraping across the wooden frame as the dead tried to force their way inside.
Elena Voss pressed herself against the cracked wall near the window. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, but her eyes stayed locked on the doorway.
The creature crouched low in front of her.
Its glowing eyes burned like fire.
When the first zombie managed to shove its upper body into the room, the monster attacked.
With a violent roar, it slammed forward.
Claws tore through decaying flesh. The creature ripped the corpse away from the doorway and smashed it against the floor. Bones cracked like dry sticks.
But another corpse immediately pushed forward.
Then another.
The hallway was packed.
The dead moved like a single living mass.
Elena glanced behind her.
The shadow zombies were gathering along the wall again, their foggy bodies twisting around the word CRAZY. Their hollow faces stared toward the doorway, silently screaming warnings.
They weren’t trying to attack her.
They were trying to warn her.
“Elena...”
The voice came from the darkness under the bed.
She froze.
Slowly she looked down.
The creature’s glowing eyes were still fixed on the doorway, but its deep growl carried a strange vibration—almost like words forming inside the sound.
“Elena... move...”
Her breath caught.
“You... talk?” she whispered.
The monster didn’t answer.
Instead it lunged forward again, shredding another corpse that had forced its way inside.
The bodies began piling near the door.
But the pressure from the hallway kept growing.
More zombies shoved forward.
More hands reached through.
The doorframe began to crack.
Elena’s gaze drifted past the swarm.
Down the hallway.
At the far end, something moved again.
The tall zombie.
It stepped slowly into the dim light of the corridor.
Unlike the others, it wasn’t pushing toward the room.
It simply stood there.
Watching.
Thinking.
Its pale eyes locked directly onto Elena.
The creature in the room noticed it too.
Its growl changed instantly.
Deeper.
Angrier.
The tall zombie slowly raised one long arm.
Then it pointed directly at Elena.
The horde surged harder against the doorway.
Wood splintered.
The frame cracked wider.
“They’re obeying it...” Elena whispered in horror.
The tall zombie tilted its head again, almost studying her reaction.
Then something even stranger happened.
It walked forward through the crowd.
But the other zombies moved aside.
They made space for it.
Like soldiers clearing a path for a commander.
The tall figure reached the bedroom door.
For the first time, it stepped inside the room.
The shadow zombies behind Elena shrieked silently and scattered across the wall.
The creature roared and leapt forward.
But the tall zombie didn’t attack.
Instead, it slowly dragged one long finger across the broken wood of the doorframe.
Its nail carved deep into the surface.
A symbol appeared.
A crude circle.
Inside it... a crooked line shaped like a twisted eye.
Elena stared at it.
“What is that...?”
The tall zombie finally looked at her again.
And then, slowly... it smiled.
Not the mindless snapping grin of the dead.
A real smile.
Cold.
Knowing.
The creature lunged at it.
But the tall zombie stepped backward out of the room.
Immediately the swarm surged forward again, filling the doorway with clawing bodies.
The tall zombie disappeared into the darkness of the hallway.
But the mark it carved remained on the broken doorframe.
A silent message.
A claim.
Elena’s stomach twisted as she stared at the symbol.
Because somehow... 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
She knew exactly what it meant.
She wasn’t just prey anymore.
She had been chosen.
