House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 170: Infernis: Decalogue
Chapter 170 - Infernis: Decalogue
(Third Person POV)
Drakken stood on the hill, overlooking the large city of Decalogue, which was in the distance.
"Hm....." he said, "Isn't this place governed by Elves?"
Riktor shrugged, "Beats me." He said, "I know the Archmage is human. But if I remember Viktor's words right, Elves and Humans coexist here."
"Surprising." Drakken said as he tilted his head, "So that Vampire woman, did you know her?"
"Not her specifically, but her Master." Riktor said, "Malvenia, one of the Vampire Lords who reside in the far east."
"Viktor has a history with them covens?" Drakken asked
Riktor sighed, "Yea." He said, "He apparently betrayed the Great Coven when he used the daywalking ritual on me when I was turned."
"Hm." Drakken said, "What a waste, allowing you to grow up and be capable of forming words."
"You're an asshole." Riktor scowled, "If it weren't for me, you'd probably be long dead."
"Trust me, that would be better," Drakken smirked
"Sometimes, I want to rip your face off." Riktor said
"Well, try it." Drakken said, "I want to see it."
"Whatever." Riktor said, "So what did Viktor tell you? About this Archmage? Does he have the Bloodstone sealed somewhere or is it on his person?"
"Not much, honestly." Drakken told him, "But my guess is we follow the source of unimaginable power."
"I guess." Riktor said, "Wait, you smell that?"
Drakken smelled the air, "Smoke?"
"Yea..." Riktor said
Over to the city, there were a bit of smoke trails that went up to the sky and the faint sound of screams was prominent.
"Guess we're late to the party." Drakken said, "You don't think those Helldoors opened already?"
There was a bright crimson pillar of light that erupted straight to the sky, a huge explosion erupting right after this.
"Does that answer your question?" Riktor said, "Demons."
Drakken rolled his eyes, "Just what we need."
*****************
Drakken walked down the street as civilians were running from an explosion that destroyed a building, the large stone structure collapsing to the ground as he simply approached it.
He had split up with Riktor in order to cover more ground, searching for their objective.
He looked around, seeing that many civilians were scurrying about in a panic, running for their lives as more explosions erupted in the distance.
"Come on...." Drakken said as a large piece of rubble shot straight at him, "How many explosions does it take?"
He raised his hand, and the rubble stopped in midair due to Drakken's telekinesis. He then waved his hand to the side, flinging it out of the way as he looked ahead of him.
He took a step forward and he then heard a loud clanking sound as a large thud shook the ground, "Huh?" He said, "What then?"
Ahead of him, the figure of a large winged creature was visible through the flames and smoke. Drakken tilted his head as the figure emerged fully and stepped onto the street, the clattering sound becoming louder.
"A Gargoyle?" Drakken said
The creature he was looking at looked like a massive stone statue, with rectangular wings on its back as it had a strange and cylinder-like body. Its head was that of a stone gargoyle with bright orange eyes, its mouth opened and emitting a bit of smoke as it constantly clattered.
The Gargoyle held a massive halberd in its hands, the blade had glowing runes on it that emitted a bit of steam.
The creature took a step forward, causing a massive thud, and it hunched down, its mouth clattering loudly, creating this eerie and disturbing atmosphere as it merely looked away from Drakken.
"Oh boy." Drakken said, "How did they fit this fucker through a Helldoor?"
The Gargoyle then straightened up and opened its mouth, letting out a nerve-wracking screech that caused a shockwave, ripping apart the stone street and causing some buildings to shake violently.
The Gargoyle then stopped, its mouth clattering as it slowly turned to look at Drakken, its orange eyes piercing right at him.
"What? Want a piece of me?" Drakken tilted his head
The Gargoyle lunged right at him, flying down the street and swung its halberd swiftly at him with blinding speed. The force of it doing this was enough to shatter pieces of the buildings around them.
Its halberd swung right at Drakken who simply raised his hand and caught it with ease, the impact of this causing a shockwave that ripped apart the ground with ease.
"Not bad." Drakken said, "Gargoyles are quite strong....."
The Gargoyle let out a clattering sound as it looked right at Drakken, its mouth emitting more smoke.
"But...." Drakken said as he clutched the blade of the halberd, "There's a point where you lot get stuck on. You see, you are nothing but animated pieces of stone. Strong pieces of stone, yes.....but nothing but stone...."
Drakken raised his free hand at the Gargoyle and smirked viciously, his eyes glowing red.
"Shred"
In an instant, the Gargoyle was obliterated by Drakken's Cutting Sorcery, hit by a wave of continuous slashes that ripped right through the stone body of the creature. The top half of the Gargoyle was reduced to rubble and it collapsed right in front of Drakken as he still held the halberd by the blade.
"Hm." He said, "Weak, after all...."
He let go of the halberd, causing it to simply crash onto the ground.
Before Drakken could do anything else, he heard the stampeding footsteps of several individuals running up to him.
"Right here!!" a voice said
He turned around to see several Knights making their way down the street and towards him.
"Knights...." He said, "Magic Knights...."
They all stopped several dozen meters away from Drakken, a bit shocked at the sight of the rubble that was the Gargoyle.
"W-What the hell happened?" one of them said, "That thing was destroyed?"
Drakken faced them, "So.." He said, "You work for the Archmage? You mind telling me where he is?"
The Knights looked at him with a bit of confusion, "Who-" one of them started
All of their heads suddenly burst open, blood spraying everywhere as their bodies collapsed to the ground.
Drakken blinked, "Seriously?"
He looked at their corpses as they piled up against each other. This was something he did not do, so he was a bit perplexed at what had happened.
Before he could do anything else, a figure appeared from thin air, standing behind the pile of corpses.
"Corpses....." a sinister voice said, "They pile up nicely...."
Drakken looked at the figure fully manifesting itself and the moment it did, he felt a cold shiver down his spine.
The figure before him was that of a tall humanoid clad in black and white armor that covered most of its torso. Its legs were not that fully armored, but the waist had a skirt of chainmail, stained in blood.
Drakken noticed that the figure's hands were also not covered in armor, revealing its slender and white boney human-like fingers. He then looked up and saw the most prominent feature of the creature; its pale face was covered in scars, white blood-stained bandages wrapped around the top of its head, hiding its eyes.
He narrowed his eyes, "Demon, I presume?" he said, "What are you doing here?"
The Demon raised its hands slightly, "I am here on My Lord's orders, clearly." It said with a cold tone, "You?"
"That's none of your business." Drakken said
"Fufufu...." The Demon said as he pointed at Drakken, "Dragon Calamity...I can feel it on you....."
Drakken scowled, "What of it....?"
"My Lord will love to have one in his ranks.....Lord Valkren....." The Demon said
"Fuck off." Drakken spat, "I have no interest in being a Demon Lord's pawn."
"With enough training, you could become even a General...." The Demon said, "But...telling you this would be a waste of breath.....I understand that you would not be willing to talk.....Child of Corvinus...."
Drakken glared at him, "Don't you dare fucking say his name!!!" He said with pure anger, "I will gut you, Demon!!!"
"Of course." The Demon said with a wicked grin, "You are Drakken, Son of Corvinus.....I know it all too well....the one who was casted out by Darkness....poor thing.....My Lord will truly be pleased to have you in his ranks....." freewёbnoνel.com
Drakken sprouted his wing-arms, releasing a wave of dark aura as he glared at the Demon, "What's your name, Demon?" He asked, "I want to know the name of the piece of filth I kill in this place..."
The Demon chuckled, "Me? I am but a humble servant, underling of General Barton." He said,
"I am Tryke."
