Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 366: Really Unreliable
With that thought, Lin Kuang thanked the man and let him leave. Afterward, he took the elevator back to Liu Shilin's office.
Once inside, Lin Kuang turned on the miniature camera, and its contents instantly appeared before his eyes. A faint smile touched his lips as he listened to the conversations and saw the faces on the recording.
This time, I'll see what you do! Lin Kuang sneered to himself.
"What are you muttering about over there?" Liu Shilin asked, glancing over at him.
"Uh, just some evidence," Lin Kuang said with a pleased smile, feeling great. "It's enough to take down Chu Zhongtian, and Ye Tiannan won't be able to escape either."
Hearing this, Liu Shilin simply nodded. She had no intention of getting involved in such matters, nor was there any need for her to.
When it was time to leave work, Lin Kuang, Liu Shilin, and Lin Guo'er drove off together.
When they arrived home, the Witch was already there. A smile graced her doll-like face; she seemed to be in an excellent mood.
"Why so happy? Did you find some money?" Lin Kuang asked with a laugh.
The Witch, still in high spirits, glanced at him. "No. We've decided to go to Shennongjia tomorrow!" she said happily. "Hehe, I've always wanted to visit that place, and now I finally have the chance!"
"Eh, what's so interesting about a forest?" Lin Kuang asked, sounding unconvinced.
"Hmph, there are legends about the Wildman in Shennongjia. What if we actually see one?" the Witch huffed.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang couldn't help but rub his forehead. This girl must be delusional. The Wildman is just a legend; how could such a monster possibly exist?
Seeing his reaction, the Witch didn't say anything more, just shot him a fierce glare.
At that moment, Lin Guo'er, having changed her clothes, walked over and asked with a touch of annoyance, "Hey, are you eating at home tonight?"
"Of course. I want to taste my darling Guo'er's cooking," Lin Kuang said with a beaming smile.
"Hmph, that's more like it. Just you wait, I'm going to cook," Lin Guo'er huffed.
Watching her go, Lin Kuang suddenly felt, for some unknown reason, that Lin Guo'er was utterly unreliable.
Then again, maybe I'm overthinking it, he mumbled to himself.
Just then, Liu Shilin came downstairs. She glanced toward the kitchen where Lin Guo'er was and sighed in resignation. She knew Lin Guo'er all too well. Forget cooking an actual meal—the girl had probably never once set foot in a kitchen her entire life. Liu Shilin couldn't understand what possessed her to insist on cooking now.
To prevent any disasters, Liu Shilin also headed into the kitchen, leaving Lin Kuang and the Witch to chat on the sofa.
Twenty minutes later, Lin Kuang's expression soured at the sounds coming from the kitchen.
"Oh dear, Shilin, I forgot to add salt! Oh no, it's burning! AHHH..."
Lin Guo'er's constant shouts echoed from the kitchen. This wasn't cooking; it was a battlefield. Sitting in the living room listening, Lin Kuang was completely speechless. It was obvious the girl had no idea how to cook.
After a full, excruciating hour, Lin Guo'er finally emerged from the kitchen. Her pretty face was an absolute mess, smudged with black and yellow patches like a little calico cat.
"Ahem, Guo'er, what happened to you? You look like you've been through a fire," Lin Kuang couldn't help but ask.
"Hmph, what do you think? This is from cooking for you! And you, you ungrateful lout, you don't even try to comfort me," Lin Guo'er grumbled, clearly dissatisfied.
Lin Kuang felt a surge of frustration. It was her idea to cook in the first place! How was I supposed to know she was completely clueless?
"Ahem, my darling Guo'er is the best. You've worked so hard," Lin Kuang quickly said, plastering on a smile.
"Hmph, that's more like it. Sit down and wait for dinner," Lin Guo'er replied.
Lin Kuang nodded and pulled the Witch over to the dining table.
Just then, Liu Shilin emerged from the kitchen holding a plate, her expression priceless. When she placed the dish of blackened lumps on the table, Lin Kuang froze.
"Ahem... what... what is this?" he stammered.
"Silly, it's ribs! Sweet and sour pork ribs, get it? They're just... a tiny bit burnt. But it's fine, the meat inside isn't burnt. Go on, give it a try."
As she spoke, Lin Guo'er cheerfully handed a pair of chopsticks to Lin Kuang. The Witch, however, didn't dare even consider it; the dish looked far too ghastly.
Taking the chopsticks, Lin Kuang quietly swallowed. These ribs looked like quite an ordeal. Under Lin Guo'er's watchful gaze, he picked up a piece that wasn't completely charred and put it in his mouth. He was on the verge of tears. This 'small' piece of rib is bigger than a normal large one!
Once it was in his mouth, Lin Kuang registered only one sensation: salty, very salty, extremely salty! This wasn't sweet and sour ribs; this was clearly salt and vinegar ribs!
However, under Lin Guo'er's expectant gaze, he managed to chew and swallow the entire piece, bite by agonizing bite.
"How is it? How is it? How does it taste?" Lin Guo'er asked eagerly, her beautiful eyes shining with hope.
Nearby, Liu Shilin winced. Poor Lin Kuang, she thought. Who would dare to eat that?
"Ah, it's alright. Just a little salty, but not bad overall," Lin Kuang said, forcing a smile, though he was suffering immensely on the inside.
"Hehe, even though it's my first time, I think I have quite a talent for this. Come on, try the next dish!" Lin Guo'er said with a grin. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"There's... there's more?" Lin Kuang stammered.
"Of course! You didn't think I was slaving away in the kitchen for so long just for one dish, did you? You underestimate me," she said with a snort.
Upon hearing this, Lin Kuang wanted to cry. I'd rather be accused of underestimating her than have to try another dish! This is practically poison!
At that moment, Lin Guo'er brought over a large bowl, the contents of which were bright red.
"And... what's this now?" Lin Kuang asked hesitantly.
"Clear-stewed beef!" she announced with a smile.
"Uh, then why is it red?"
"Um... well... it seems I added too many tomatoes," Lin Guo'er said, looking slightly awkward.
"Uh, why would clear-stewed beef need tomatoes?" Lin Kuang couldn't stop himself from asking.
"Because... because we didn't have any radishes, so I used tomatoes instead," she said matter-of-factly.
Lin Kuang nodded slowly. "Alright then, I'll give it a try."
With that, he carefully picked up a piece of beef, slowly placed it in his mouth, and began to chew.
