How to Tame a Villain Character-Chapter 57: Trauma
Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Trauma
What else happened to Harry suddenly? For the first time, Claudia saw that her husband’s mental condition was unstable in the middle of the night. Even though all this time Harry had never been afraid of anything. What makes him short of breath to the point of breaking out in cold sweat?
When lightning struck near their residence, Harry became even more frightened until tears rolled down his cheeks. Now Claudia understood the main reason Harry’s mental condition was suddenly unstable. She also remembers reading the original storyline of this novel, it was said that Harry was traumatized by rainstorms and lightning. However, Linnon deliberately never revealed the reason behind the trauma because Linnon felt it was not important to say and Harry was not the main character of this novel.
Since living in this novel, Claudia decided she wanted to reveal the secret that Harry had been hiding all this time. She didn’t want Harry to be miserable because there was no one to defend him and always thought of him as a monster.
Claudia slowly got up from the bed and took an earphone from her briefcase. From a distance, Claudia couldn’t bear to see her husband who kept tossing and turning like seeing a real ghost.
Claudia returned to the bed and patted her husband’s shoulder gently, so as not to startle him too much.
"Harry, wake up!"
Harry opened his eyes wide as he gripped the blanket. Slowly his gaze focused on his wife’s eyes, she was very sad, her heart was increasingly breaking into pieces.
"Claudia...."
"Don’t talk yet. Your breath has been short since earlier. I was really scared to see you."
Hearing the sound of rain pouring down in front of the house plus the lightning striking non-stop made Harry tremble even more and covered his ears. It was unfortunate that his weakest side was being shown to someone for the first time. Even his adoptive family never looked at him, who was at his weakest point.
In my heart I kept grumbling. Irritating. It’s really annoying why it has to be in the wrong situation. Why did he have to show his weakest side to his wife for the first time? Moreover, Claudia would laugh at him for being so childish due to being afraid of rain and thunder.
However, what Claudia was doing now was very different from what Harry had imagined. Claudia put earphones in Harry’s ears while playing a romantic instrument.
In an instant Harry felt calm thanks to his wife’s method for the first time making his mental condition stable. His eyes couldn’t even blink at the sweet treatment his wife was currently giving him like his own biological mother.
The warm hug given by his wife was very comfortable. His breathing returned to normal even though he still felt disturbed looking at the lightning continuing to strike through the window.
"I deliberately played the romantic instrument that the musicians played when we got married," said Claudia with a shy smile.
"I... like the instrument, Claudia."
"Thank goodness you really like it. At first I wanted to plug your ears with cotton. But I’m sure you must feel uncomfortable."
Harry shook his head. "Whatever method you use, I will definitely feel comfortable. Actually, this is the first time I feel calm when it rains. No one will calm me down like you."
"Harry, to be honest I was sad to see you scared the first time. I’m curious what’s really on your mind. Why are you afraid of thunder and rain? Why didn’t you ever tell me that you were traumatized by rain?"
Is now the time to tell all his personal secrets to his wife? Harry took off the earphone on his right ear, then put it on his wife’s ear. "At first I thought you would laugh at me because this was the first time I saw me weak."
"Why am I laughing at you? I have no right to do that. Do you know the reason I never made fun of you?"
Harry shrugged with an innocent face.
Claudia looked at her husband with a look of pity. "Because it won’t do me any good to mock you. I don’t want you to get worse just because I was mean to you."
Harry’s eyes became more teary listening to his wife’s words which made his thoughts calm even more. His strong arms tightened the hug even more. "Thank you, Claudia."
"I don’t like seeing you crying alone while I, as your wife, don’t do anything. Then, you have already saved my life, just consider this as a reward for your service." For a moment, Claudia landed her lips on his forehead. "I’m not forcing you to talk about your past problems. Everyone has their own past and not everything can be revealed directly. If you can’t say it, you can say it when you’re ready."
Harry shook his head slowly and narrowed his eyes. Take a long breath, then exhale slowly. "I do have trauma. Actually, when I was little, I really liked the rain. But, because something happened to my family on a rainy day, I’ve been traumatized since then."
There was one strange thing in Claudia’s mind. As far as she could remember, the Harperwood family had never had any problems during this time, especially when it rained. Why was Harry talking as if he wasn’t talking about the Harperwood family?
Starting from donating to the Only Hope Orphanage, liking folk festivals, liking birds, liking sweet foods, to being traumatized by rain. Actually, what was Harry’s past like? She felt like she wanted to force Harry to tell her everything before she felt bad.
"Trouble that befell your family when it rains? But why did Harris never tell me?"
Harry raised his right eyebrow. "Why do you believe Harris’s story more than mine?"
"I don’t believe it any more. It’s just that you like something beyond my expectations. Then, you suddenly have a trauma about rain. As far as I know, your family has been fine all this time."
"So, now should I tell you everything?"
"What?"
"Isn’t that what you wanted all along? You want to know my truth. Then, you hate me every time I hide something from you."
