Humanity.exe-Chapter 51: Expensive Hardware, What A Job.

Instead of talking to Rezex about the job, I decided it would be better to give Reika the opportunity since she needs to fix things with him.

So I took the time to get some rest in my room as she handled everything for the day.

Of course I ended up falling asleep without even realizing it so that was something I didn’t expect. After a little while I woke up to the sight of Reika sitting at the end of my bed.

Obviously we have gotten a bit closer but it wasn’t this close, it definitely caught me off guard quite a bit. It wasn’t something that bothered me though.

She’s been working hard and has been trying her best to prove she’s definitely worthy of the second in command title. I’d say she is but I can’t change her mind completely on the subject.

"I appreciate you checking up on me. How’d everything go with Rezex?" I questioned while sitting up in my bed.

"Oh, I didn’t realize you woke up. He’s on the job now. I’m expecting some updates shortly." Reika answered with a bit of nervousness in her voice.

Something about the conversation between the two of them must’ve been weird. I’m sure she still has a lot of anger towards him after he left before.

I saw it firsthand when they were talking in the hall for the first time in awhile.

"I’m confident he’ll do good. He seems to be quite experienced in what he does. That’s exactly why I’m happy we have him." I said with a bit of relief.

"Rezex really is lucky we found him when we did." Reika responded, skipping past what I said.

I do forget that Rezex wasn’t always in Karma since they originally found him during a job or something. It makes a lot of sense to me that he should be a bit more appreciative of her.

Not that I have any care for the whole thing as long as they get along. We need to keep good relationships here so that we can make everything work.

Rising to the top of the food chain won’t be easy if everyone is down each other’s throats all the time.

"We’ll make sure he understands that over time more." I assured her.

"Thanks Zero, seriously. It all means a lot to me." Reika replied with a genuine tone.

I spent the rest of the day talking with Reika about stuff that didn’t really matter much. It was a good way to get through the day while we waited on updates from Rezex.

It was an awfully quiet day for the most part, no commotion from anyone or anything outside.

Honestly I hate to admit it but I could feel myself getting more and more comfortable around Reika. Something I wasn’t used to feeling with anyone really.

"I’ve got the cases secured. One of the things here also leads to some sort of secret weapons cache." Rezex said quietly over the comm.

"Do you need some help with getting everything out?" I questioned with a bit of a curious tone.

"Nah, I got it. I’ll be there shortly though. Send some guys to the door at the very least." He responded before going quiet.

At least he did everything without any issues, that makes our lives a bit easier. I’ll just have to send someone to the doors to give Rezex a hand.

Before I could get up to say anything, Reika was already heading out of my room.

"I’ll handle it. Don’t worry about it." Reika said with a smile.

"Alright." I replied softly.

After this armory is all setup... I need to get some more work done to get ready for the coming days. I’d like to start taking out some of these gangs around us.

They already have a problem with me the way it is. Killing them now would probably be the best plan so that I can avoid any hiccups in the future.

Myra is also way above us in terms of strength so it would do us some good to actually wipe out some of the others around here.

The silver wolves might even be more inclined to help with bigger jobs in the future if we do it.

I got up out of my bed and walked over to the bathroom to look in the mirror. My arm was still a sight that always caught me off guard.

Seeing a full cybernetic arm with this mana flowing throughout it... Is still an adjustment. The piece in my chest also seems to glow from time to time as well.

The scars around it were also quite noticeable with how bad of a wound it originally was. I was just happy that I kept in shape throughout all of this time.

My abs were still here, my normal arm was still quite ripped, and it was quite obvious that I was in shape.

I’ve been trying to stay ahead with all of my exercising since I need different ways to stay busy when I’m not outside. It also helps keep me in peak condition for any hand to hand fights that I have.

"Zero. I don’t know if you have a comm in but Rezex just got back and we got the hardware unloaded. He brought quite a lot for us." Reika said over the comm with a bit of excitement.

Hardware is more like metal, computers, and even some special modifications for weapons. This was definitely what we needed to get ourselves into a better position.

We just need a lot more guns and we’ll be completely good to go. That shouldn’t be too hard since Rezex also just found something talking about a cache.

That’ll be our way to get guns for all of our current members... And to finally fill up the armory here.

"I’ll be down to see it in a few minutes." I responded back over the comm.
