I Am Not A Goblin Slayer-Chapter 394 - 244: Rewards Exchange (Part 3)
2, 3, 4, 5, very neat identity badges.
If news about such a configuration of an Adventurer Squad wiping out a Level 6 goblin leader leading numerous elite goblins and thousands of goblins were to spread, people would surely consider it a fabricated rumor.
But this conclusion is not wrong.
After Gauss successfully completed the mission, the Adventurer’s Guild was able to use him as an "anchor point" for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering, eventually compiling an intelligence report that surprised many staff members.
On the day the Sen City Adventurer’s Guild East District Branch received the top-tier intelligence, she happened to be in Guild Leader Rachel’s office. At that time, Rachel also became curious about Gauss and the others, specifically instructing her to treat them well and not as ordinary bronze adventurers.
However, this instruction was evidently redundant, because even without the Guild Leader’s words, anyone with a sane mind would not deliberately act pretentious in front of someone with such impressive accomplishments.
"Just luck, just luck." Gauss still wore a faint smile on his cheeks.
This caused Adelle, who originally hoped to hear some specific insider story, to be slightly disappointed.
Gauss appeared young, but in actuality, he was much more composed than she had imagined, lacking the impulsiveness typical of youth. Even though this was a feat that common people found completely incomprehensible, deemed "incredible," he appeared very calm.
Just like casually killing a few goblins by the roadside.
"Then let’s get straight to the point. I suppose you’re here to redeem the rewards for this ’non-public’ special mission?" Adelle spread the item list on the table.
Gauss and the others quickly leaned in.
Even Ying, who seemed the most composed, leaned slightly forward.
The item list, categorized by different sections, included skills, spells, equipment, Magic Items, mounts, heritage, and other services.
The array of projects was vast and varied.
Next to many item names were brief magical symbols and descriptions, indicating that the person who made this list put considerable thought into it.
"Can we choose from all these and immediately redeem them?" Gauss looked up at Adelle.
Seeing the sparkle in Gauss’s eyes, Adelle gave a soft smile.
Facing rewards, he finally showed a bit of eagerness fitting for his age.
"Yes. If Gauss and you have other needs that are not on the list, you can propose them as well. We can transfer them from warehouses in other cities, though it might require some waiting time. Besides, the number you can choose is limited, so choose wisely."
"Understood."
Gauss looked at each one.
In terms of skills, most were spells, Divine Art and some included Archery and Sneak Techniques.
Mostly 2nd-3rd Ring.
2nd Ring: Elastic Technique, Levitation Technique, Acid Arrow, Web Technique...
3rd Ring: Fireball Technique, Spell Countermeasure, Flying Technique, Vampire’s Touch, Dispel Magic...
Many of the content in the 3rd Ring Spell made Gauss very eager.
He wanted every one of them.
Unfortunately, he was currently only Level 4.
And to learn 3rd Ring Spell normally, one needs to be a Level 5 caster.
But that’s under normal circumstances... could I learn it in advance?
Gauss was unsure, but regarding the ability to learn and master magic, he knew he was much stronger than ordinary casters.
He felt that what other casters couldn’t accomplish, he might be able to.
First is the Fireball Technique.
He had been longing for this spell for a long time.
This 3rd Ring evocation spell is a renowned, iconic attack spell in the caster community, known as the "mage’s signature."
Though its name sounds average, like some basic skill a novice can master, its destructive power is exceptionally strong.
It can generate a massive, explosive fireball.
It can cover a large number of enemies, making it an extremely effective clearing tool.
Moreover, this spell is highly suitable for higher-level casting, with its power expanding as it levels up, causing many casters, even when far above Level 5, to habitually use this spell.
Hence, it has left a very distinct mark in the stream of spells.
Imagine how terrifying a Legendary Mage’s Fireball Technique would be.
Flying Technique, compared to the simple Levitation Technique, is more formidable; it can grant oneself or other willing creatures the ability to fly, allowing them to move flexibly in the air during its duration.
Of course, this spell also has its downside, requiring concentration. If prematurely interrupted, the subject risks falling from a great height, necessitating the Feather Fall Technique to avoid falling damage.
Vampire’s Touch is a 3rd Ring necromancy spell.
A favorite of many close-quarter battling mages, a typical "harm others, benefit oneself" spell.
The effect turns the hand full of negative energy for a melee spell attack; if it hits, it causes shadow erosion damage.
More crucially, this attack also carries a life-steal effect, siphoning enemy life force to replenish oneself.
