I am the Mad Heir of the Strongest Clan-Chapter 32: Meeting Elves
Chapter 32 - Meeting Elves
Caelthirion had noticed Jules earlier but paid him no mind, so he wasn't surprised when he suddenly spoke up.
The young elf turned to Jules, who stood by a shelf, with a curious look.
Jules sighed and approached the young man.
"Can I sit here?" he asked.
"You can," replied Cael, his green eyes staring at Jules intently.
And I thought I was handsome... Jules thought, before he said:
"You're not familiar with non-elf magic, right?"
Wearing an expressionless face, Cael nodded.
"Well, while there are familiarities, there are also differences."
Jules knew the basics of magic through and through after a month of intense studying; however, he didn't know this much.
What he was now explaining was the words of Finn's guardian angel from the novel!
He broke down what he knew to Cael, and the young elf grasped the fundamentals almost instantly.
Enlightened, Cael conjured a green magic circle, looking up at Jules for confirmation.
"That's it," Jules said with a smile. "A few more tries and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it."
Breaking down the spell, Cael bowed respectfully. "Thank you. May I know your name?"
Jules kept quiet for a second before he answered, "I'm Jules."
With a small smile, Cael said, "Please, call me Cael."
"Alright, Cael," Jules said standing up, "Good luck with your practice."
Without waiting for the young elf to say anything, Jules walked away.
Instead of leaving, he sat at a table some distance from Cael, his blood and mana senses alert to a group at the far end of the room.
Where did they even come from? They weren't here when I met Cael. Heh, did that lady sense a disturbance in the air?
As time slowly passed, a young lady with braided white hair, brown eyes and pointy ears walked over to Jules's table, her body moving like a renowned individual.
Behind her were a male and female elves that held close to no presence beside her. They looked like her followers.
She smiled disdainfully as she sat across from Jules, who pretended not to notice her.
"Elarina Vaelithen. Rank 2."
Hearing her voice, Jules's head was still facing his book as his eyeballs rolled to see her face.
Did the Author have a thing for drama queens? Every named female I've met so far has been insufferably dramatic.
Jules sighed as he chose to reply.
"Jules. Rank 201."
With a mocking gaze, Elarina shot her head back slightly as if trying to see Jules better.
"Why is a weakling like you attempting to teach a Rank 4? Despite being a human, it seems you're not very familiar with how these institutes work.
"The gap between the top 100 and other ranks is not close."
And it seems you're not aware our current ranks are not accurate. You displayed more power than I did which is why you're ranked higher.
At this point, Jules cursed at the damn rank system; he had shown ability to use three elements to tier 3 and he was still ranked below 200!
Seeing Jules avoid eye contact, Elarina said, "Stay away from Kael if you don't want your school year to be bumpy."
With that, she left with her noble followers who also glared at him, causing Jules to sigh.
I managed to hold myself back... Provoking her would be too stressful for me.
Heh, actions speak louder than words. We'll meet on other grounds.
Jules was already awaiting the Rank Placements Exam.

After his chat with Elarina, Jules left the Library and went to collect his items.
He picked up his uniform and key, then headed to the inn.
He had decided that he would move into his dorms tomorrow, before the Freshman Gathering.
The night was spent doing his usual routine of studying and workouts.
But before he went to sleep, the flat black plate on his table began blinking faintly with a blue shard.
He tapped its color and saw a blue orb appear, releasing a sound as the orb reduced.

"Hey, darling," Cattleya, Jules's mother, said. "I'm glad to finally hear your voice. It's good to know how you're doing."
Listening, Jules smiled as he thought, She must've collected it from the Captain...
"I promised Freya I'll recount the situation first.
"A tournament will be held soon to confirm the Heir Candidates. The aim is to obtain five candidates for now.
"There's been turmoil because of it, but things have mostly settled.
"Huh... the Edge is facing more beasts, however, due to Freya's instigation, people are responding well because they believe this is an opportunity to grow their standings and ranks."
Knowing things are going according to plan, Jules nodded in satisfaction.
It seems that part is going well. The pressure from the Edge should reduce its impact on the downfall.
"No sign of traitor movements yet." His mother's voice continued sounding.
"Still, be careful. We don't know if they're watching you."
They can't attack me right now, it's hard to do so in the domain of the First Archmage, plus they underestimate me.
The best opportunity they had was during my travels, but I was being protected by people Freya assigned with the knowledge of the Council.
It was only when I got here that I was truly untethered from the Clan.
This gave Jules trouble when he was buying his previous attire before getting on from Green, but he managed to do that in the end.
Hmm, I would have believed they were trying to stabilize a new plan now that things within the clan have changed, but the fact that they wanted to kidnap me means they still need something from me.
Now that I'm at the Institute, they'll be watching even more closely. But by the time they feel truly threatened... Veil will have already formed a base in the shadows.
"Anyway, Julie wants to talk to you."
"H-hello, brother." A cute low voice echoed as Julie spoke, "I hope you're fine."
Then a little whisper sounded from the background, "Go on, tell him."
Julie raised her voice a bit proudly as she said:
"Erm, I'm about to cross into the Light Red stage! Also, I killed a D-rank beast with Lia... I'm doing good and I'm protecting mother too. Bye!"
A chuckle was heard as Cattleya took over.
"Alright, love. Take care of yourself. Don't let anyone take advantage of you, okay? Oh, extend my greetings to Ryan."
Silence lingered for a moment before Cattleya suddenly added:
"Ah, Freya says good job! Bye, darling. I love you."
Jules watched the orb shrink to nothingness as a smile tugged his lips.
"I...love you too."
He uttered for the first time in two lifetimes.
