I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 281: Rebuilding the Homeland
Qiao Suisui’s back tensed, unsure why Carl was focusing on that.
She replied nonchalantly, "Those are all problems after losing a bet; we should still focus on what to do right now."
Their entire family was now in the cellar, and it was impossible to keep hiding here. Fortunately, this cellar was large enough. A typical cellar only had one layer and was more like a storage space, but this one had been around for some time, and the owner was quite particular, resulting in the cellar being divided into three layers, each approximately ninety square meters.
Thus, Ruka made simple arrangements: Leberli took charge of six Deer cubs, Carl looked after five leopard cubs on the first level, while Zong Fang’s twenty snake cubs, with many older ones among them, were to go with Josiah and the nine of them, along with Ruka and four lion cubs to the second level. The remaining eleven younger snake cubs were left in the care of Anubis on the third level.
Since Qiao Suisui was pregnant and needed a good environment, Zong Fang joined her to rest in the private space.
Qiao Suisui wanted to stay in the cellar with them but was unanimously rejected, so she had no choice but to obediently follow Zong Fang into the space.
Having faced a series of urgent events in the real world, her mind finally relaxed and she suddenly felt very tired.
Zong Fang held her, quickly helped her take a bath, changed her into comfortable clothes, and let her rest on the soft bed.
Afterward, he left the space, and once all the men had settled the children, they stepped out of the cellar to discuss strategies.
"I just checked the surroundings, and although it’s temporarily safe here, it’s no long-term solution. The underground environment is dark and damp, we can’t use open flames, which is not good for her health," Carl said with an unusual seriousness on his face.
Ruka asked Leberli, "How are things at the Imperial Court?"
Leberli shook his head, "I don’t recommend going back there. It’s all column structures that could collapse at any moment."
Everyone fell into silence.
After a while, Zong Fang spoke up, "What if we move to Soter?"
Anubis analyzed, "Right now, the situation in Auslan is the lightest. Soter not only has collapses but also extreme weather, unpredictable heating or cooling, which may lead to secondary problems. Didn’t your father, the leader, just announce the abandonment of Soter and ordered the Beastmen there to quickly evacuate?"
Zong Fang was aware of this, but he suggested, "If I can have the conditions to conduct experimental research, I could use a technology I had researched before to improve a kind of Protective Clothing, so people can resist extreme temperatures or disasters."
Ruka understood why he was doing this, "You think this situation won’t change in the short term, so you might as well establish a refuge?"
Zong Fang nodded, "I don’t want Qiaoqiao to give birth in such an environment. Although we have a space, it is enclosed, and she doesn’t like being in confined spaces. Plus, as she just mentioned, if we really can’t get out, the situation we face won’t just be temporary, so we must plan early."
Ruka’s thoughts coincided with his own.
Suddenly, Anubis’s eyes lit up.
"I remember a place, your lab is there, and the situation isn’t too bad there."
Zong Fang exchanged glances with him, immediately realizing the place he was referring to. Both said in unison—
"Southern Battlefield."
"Dudleyne."
The Southern Battlefield was already environmentally hostile, but this catastrophe didn’t make it worse. Ultimately, it was because the surface there had become inert, so there was only intermittent acid rain, and it didn’t suffer as much destruction as other areas. Moreover, Zong Fang had used a hovering shelter there in the first timeline, which now came in handy.
The group reached a consensus and decided to split up for their actions.
Zong Fang, Carl, and Anubis set off to survey the Southern Battlefield first, to establish the shelter, while Ruka and Leberli stayed behind to protect Qiao Suisui and the children until they returned to transfer them over.
Qiao Suisui had fallen into a deep sleep, not knowing how much time had passed. When she woke up to find that nobody was around, she stepped out of the space.
Ruka informed her of the decision, and Qiao Suisui accepted it, but she had some even bigger ideas.
"Once the shelter is built, can we also invite Sang Yan and the others to join? If the catastrophe really won’t end anytime soon, then we at least need to give everyone a hope of rebuilding their homes, even just surviving," she suggested.
Ruka naturally had no objections, and when Carl and the others returned, Qiao Suisui remembered she had many system reward construction props that hadn’t been used, so she immediately set off with them to the Southern Battlefield.
Zong Fang’s progress was swift. Upon arrival, Qiao Suisui saw a huge spherical hovering object in the middle of the clearing, which was their new home. With her props, the shelter expanded rapidly, and its interior extended to five levels without feeling crowded, which left Carl looking on in amazement.
Qiao Suisui took out props from the system and placed buildings like apartments, bamboo houses, and Western-style houses around the perimeter of the hovering shelter, spaced out in a village-like layout.
She casually used her Light Computer to take a few photos and sent them to Sang Yan, Lanze, Li Yi, and others, along with posting a notification in the Freedom network.
The shelter was not open to the public, but those system-given buildings could probably accommodate a few thousand Beastmen seeking refuge.
As soon as the message was out, it shone like a ray of light in desperation, giving countless Beastmen hope.
However, the Southern Battlefield was not so easily accessible; not everyone had Carl’s Talent, and many more preferred to hide in fear at home every day rather than risk seeking long-term safety, because weaker Beastmen would die on the way.
And Qiao Suisui was aware of this, but she wouldn’t provide any more help for now. She knew that if a home was to be rebuilt in this Interstellar world in the future, it would absolutely need to include not those with weak wills.
Once everything was in order, she and Ruka and the others moved all the young cubs to the Southern Battlefield as well.
Sang Yan brought a group of his people over quickly, with Gai Meilun and Ah Yao among them.
He first embraced Qiao Suisui amidst Zong Fang’s murderous glare, then went to settle the living quarters.
Li Yi arrived with his panda family a few days later, bringing a warship’s worth of supplies. He stood cheerfully atop the warship, vigorously waving to Qiao Suisui. "Look, Qiao, I’ve moved my home over! Haha!"
After recovering his five senses, Lanze had been traveling around, and when the catastrophe hit, he happened to be at the Freedom Alliance. With his foreknowledge Talent, he became a charismatic Bishop and provided relief to a group of homeless juvenile Beastmen, with the older ones being about the same age as Harvis and the younger ones just having Transformed.
The older cubs naturally looked out for these pitiful Beastmen, especially summer, who was now bursting with a sense of justice, voluntarily taking on the responsibility of caring for the weak, and Qiao Suisui let them go to help.
After the erasure, all rebuilding work fell into a progressive routine.
Yet, as the days passed, Qiao Suisui still had not received any message from Ye Xi, nor had she been completely erased.
She couldn’t help feeling puzzled, what exactly was happening in the real world? If the level of erasure had been canceled, why didn’t Ye Xi inform her that she could log out? If it hadn’t been canceled, why did this world still exist?
