I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 290: The Priest
Jonson clenched the knife tighter then relaxed. He fell down to his knees.
"Greetings, my lord. What makes you visit my humble home?"
Siderius took a few more puffs from his pipe before answering.
"You should already know, Jonson. All of those deaths need an answer. Baron of Scalize has entrusted me again to deal with this issue."
"I don’t know what you mean, my lord."
"You don’t? Pick this up then." Siderius threw a small silver piece onto the floor.
Jonson widened his eyes. His pupils dilated due to shock. The man stayed still.
"Well? Why don’t you pick it up?" Siderius chuckled lightly.
Jonson reached out his trembling hand and grabbed the piece of silver. His skin sizzled and let out a line of white smoke.
"How do you know?" Jonson’s voice had changed. There was no longer any hesitation nor fear, only intimidation.
"It wasn’t that hard to find you, Jonson. You didn’t try to hide yourself either." Siderius shrugged.
"Have you met others like me?" Jonson stood up. His skin was continuously regenerating while being burned off.
Siderius nodded. "Many times."
Jonson smiled. "I didn’t hide because I think no one would suspect me, a human, to do that kind of thing.
A man that can turn into a wolf. No one would believe that story. But I was wrong. I didn’t think there was someone like you out there, Baron."
"We live in a world with magic and witches. Werewolf wouldn’t be that far from the equation." Siderius placed the pipe on the table.
"Werewolf, huh? So that is what I am. I’ve never known it.
I tried to find others like me for many years. But there was none. It feels good to know there are, I guess."
"How did you contract the curse?" Siderius said.
"A curse... I wouldn’t say it was a curse. It is more similar to a blessing. It made me stronger, younger, and relentless."
Siderius placed his hands onto the sword. "Careful, Jonson. Answer my questions and you may live."
Jonson grinned widely. He dropped the piece of silver on the floor.
"Will you let me live? We aren’t the same anymore, Baron. I knew from the first time I transformed that I was no longer human."
Jonson’s head snapped backwards. His mouth opened wide. His teeth were the first to change. They popped out of his mouth, leaving space for new sharp teeth to emerge.
"You can transform at will?!"
Siderius rushed forward. The flaming sword appeared as he cut down Jonson.
Jonson snapped his head back toward. Brown hair appeared on his face. The space around his mouth shot forward to create a snout. His hands grew larger and the fingernails transformed into claws.
All of that happened in the blink of an eye.
Jonson slashed at the flaming sword. Siderius was surprisingly strong. The sword was also much more durable than Jonson expected.
Siderius pulled all his strength into the strike and sent Jonson flying through the window of the house. The half-man half-wolf rolled on the wet street.
Soldiers rushed out from all the corners with torches in their hands and weapons ready.
Siderius jumped out from the window.
"Stay there! Form a circle to prevent it from running! Do not engage!" Siderius shouted.
The commander nodded and led his men accordingly. "You heard the Baron! Surround the place!"
Jonson got up from the ground. His skin dropped off, revealing the thick brown fur of the wolf. His snout had completely emerged, becoming a full snout of a wolf.
His ears moved higher and became bigger, changing into sharp wolf ears.
Siderius took out the Joker Mask and put it on. He had already replaced the filter previously.
"Your transformation is really quick, huh? You must have eaten more than a hundred men." Siderius said.
Jonson finished his transformation. He grew twice as large as before, reaching 2.50 meters in height. Previously the man was shorter than Siderius.
The werewolf growled at Siderius. It lunged at him.
Siderius threw a Toxic Bomb on the ground. The thick green smoke filled the entire area.
The werewolf slashed at Siderius but there was no one there, only air and smoke. Its eyes widened a little bit.
Its ears moved to the side as it heard the sword screeching through the air.
The werewolf turned over only to be hit by the thick sword at its abdomen. The werewolf didn’t budge this time. It was able to withstand Siderius’ force.
Complete transformation had made Jonson much more dangerous than he originally was.
The werewolf ignored the burning on his fur and clawed at Siderius.
The hunter stepped backward while raising his elbow to block the hit. His armor was durable and his uniform was thick. But they were no match for the werewolf claws. The claws cut through the layer of protection and torn out a small piece of flesh on Siderius’ arms.
The hunter didn’t react to the pain. He only smirked.
"As expected of a werewolf. Your claws would make a great dagger."
The werewolf growled and lunged at Siderius.
The hunter drew a <Parare> Sigil in the air. The green barrier appeared, stopping the attack of the werewolf outside. Cracks immediately appeared on the barrier.
"This thing can withstand the force of an elephant, Jonson. And you just crack it? You really are a dangerous werewolf. I can’t let you live."
The werewolf slashed repeatedly at the barrier, causing it to crack further.
Siderius jumped backward, creating space between them. He deactivated <Parare> and activated <Esturo>.
As physically powerful as the werewolf is, its mind was its weakness.
The werewolf stumbled in place. It drooled non-stop before falling onto the ground.
Siderius took out a Pellet Bomb and threw it at the werewolf. Hundreds of Brick Beans exploded, piercing into the werewolf’s skin.
It howled in pain. But the damage was nothing to it. It pushed the beans out of the flesh and its wounds immediately healed.
"What kind of monster is this?" The commander’s face became paler watching the fight. If it was him, he would have died immediately.
The werewolf jumped up from the prone position. It opened its mouth wide to bite Siderius.
Lycan jumped from the side and bit at the neck of the werewolf.
"Lycan. NO!"
