Chapter 291: Chapter 291: Return

The small body of Lycan was somehow able to push the werewolf down on the ground. It bit into the neck of the werewolf which caused it to roar.

The werewolf slashed its claws onto Lycan’s body and bit into Lycan’s shoulder, tearing out a large chunk of meat.

It threw Lycan’s lifeless body to the side. The wolverine was unconscious. It was unclear whether the wolverine survived the attack or not.

Siderius’ expression darkened. He put the flaming sword into the oil scabbard, fusing it with the slagpaste. When he drew it out, the fire was thicker and the dark smoke was denser.

The hunter drew the <Esturo> Sigil in the air, stunning the werewolf in place. He then used <Piryo>. But instead of pushing the fire wave into the werewolf. Siderius ran the sigil on the blade of Blazing Soul. Its gray steel lit up like a blazing sun. The fire was lighter, almost to a color of yellow.

The hunter rushed forward and delivered a devastating strike right in the abdomen of the werewolf. Siderius held the sword tight and drove the werewolf on the ground with the sword.

He then continued to repeatedly strike it with the flaming sword. His movement was simple but direct, each swing causing another tear in the werewolf’s thick skin.

The werewolf got out of the effect of <Esturo>. It roared at Siderius and got up, intending to bite into him.

Siderius raised his knee in a flash, smacking the wolf’s jaw so hard it felt the world shaking.

"Holy shit." The commander gasped. He never thought that a human could knee a beast that hard.

The other soldiers also made noise in response.

Siderius painted a horizontal flaming stroke in the air. The dull blade might not be able to cut through the werewolf flesh. But the hot flaming blade made the blade sharper than it ever was. It sliced through the werewolf and cut it into two.

Its upper body smacked on the ground, while its lower body slowly slumped over.

The werewolf crawled backwards. In those ferocious eyes, there was fear. Its regenerative ability had limitations. The flesh in the middle of its abdomen reached out and tried their best to connect with something. It couldn’t regenerate the entire lower body and it needed to be reattached.

Siderius plunged the sword through the chest of the werewolf and pinned it on the ground.

Fur shed off of Jonson. His snout lowered and his sharp werewolf teeth became dull.

Siderius took out his hunter knife and cut off the claws of the werewolf and its ears before the transformation finished. The organs dropped on the ground and stayed in its werewolf form.

The werewolf roared in pain. The roar slowly returned to a humanoid scream as Jonson was once again revealed in the night light.

His wide eyes stared at his killer. The strength in his body disappeared and he lay on the ground.

"You... You are very strong." Jonson’s head leaned to the side and he died.

Siderius picked up the werewolf claws and ears. He turned to the commander.

"Clean this place up."

"Yes, my lord."

Siderius then approached the motionless Lycan. He gently picked it up and checked its vitals.

Lycan was still alive. But he was hurt severely. Siderius took out the Flesh Restoration Tonic and poured it onto Lycan’s wounds. The wolverine squirmed for a little bit before settling down, his breath calmed down.

The commander approached Siderius. "Such a loyal beast. It did not hesitate to attack the wolf at all."

Siderius nodded. "Lycan is a very trustworthy companion."

"Will it be okay, my lord?"

"Probably. But I’m more worried about the curse."

"We killed the wolf. Wouldn’t the curse be lifted already?"

"Jonson died the same day Lycan was bit. Sometimes the curse can be transferred this way and there is no way to cure it."

The commander observed the beast in Siderius’ hand. He pitied the feral beast deeply.

"Take the heart of Jonson. I have a use for it." Siderius said.

"Yes, my lord."

A heart of a werewolf, even in its human form, was the best ingredient for a Stamina Development Tonic. Siderius couldn’t pass on the chance to bring his attributes even further.

In the middle of the night, the commander knocked on Jude’s estate. He was sitting beside Caterina’s bed. He hadn’t been able to sleep for the last few days. Caterina had fallen into a coma already to prevent her from becoming crazy.

He stood up tiredly and walked to the entrance.

"Yes?" Jude said.

"Lord Snow has killed the wolf, my lord. It is a human that can turn into a type of wolfman. We all saw him fighting Lord Snow.

The body of the criminal has been transferred into the morgue."

"Shit. That witch really is efficient. Order some men to take out ten gold coins from the treasury and give it to Lord Snow."

"Yes, my lord. Lord Snow also requested to take the heart of the beast. Is there any issue with this, my lord?"

Jude laughed out loud. It was very common for witches to create potions from other living beings. So he was not surprised at all.

"Just give him the damn heart. I have no use for it."

"Yes, my lord."

Back in the Crossroads Inn, Siderius laid Lycan on a small bed he made on the floor. It slept soundly, sometimes squirming because of something it saw in the dream.

"Is he going to be okay, my lord?" Rea stood beside him. Her worried eyes stayed fixated on the wolverine.

"He would be fine. But I’m afraid he has contracted the curse."

"Do we need to kill him, my lord?"

"No. A werewolf isn’t always a threat. Lycan has an opportunity to master this power. If it doesn’t, we can think about killing it later."

The night ended with that conversation. Siderius had everything in Scalize. He killed the assassin, took care of the monster, and formed an alliance pact with Jude.

Now, the hunter must return to his domain.

Lycan woke up the next day. It seemed as lively as ever and didn’t have a trace of a fight from last night.

Siderius, Rea, and the wolverine climbed on their horses and rode back to Snowfell.

They stopped at Santa Roberto first.

The castle had changed a lot. From a lonely fragile castle to a full blown territory with wooden spikes all around and high defensive walls. George had been busy the last few months.

Siderius rode into Santa Roberto. Everyone’s eyes perked up when they saw their lord had returned.

Ashe quickly rushed out from within the castle. Her body had transformed greatly. Tone muscles appeared strongly on her arms. Her frame was a little bit wider with the defined shoulder muscle.

Ashe had been working very hard also.

"Master... Welcome back."
