I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 209: A day at work
Chapter 209: A day at work
Take a deep breath and then another. Ravi said to himself. Was work important, not really? He could sell some gems at a store, only that dealing with customers every day might drive him crazy. It was not like he was here willingly.
For his national service, he had chosen to do it in a police station, rather than prison or the army but right now, Ravi was slightly regretting this.
Take a deep breath.
"You are the one who pushed me first."
"Standing in the middle of the street, weren’t you asking to be pushed? You even slapped me. Laozi had never been slapped by someone before. I would kill you today." The taller man tried to shrug off the handcuffs and reach for the shorter male.
"Go ahead." Ravi’s freezing voice sounded in the office, causing Lisa to lower her head to hide her laughter. Ravi gave them an encouraging look, the kind that he normally saved for either Sage or Asher, "Didn’t you want to kill him? Go ahead."
The taller man who had been making a fuss opened his mouth and closed it, "You..."
"Do you want a knife or a gun?" He would really give it to them, these two people who had been arrested for a brawl on the street did not repent even after staying in the holding cell for two hours but came in front of him to act even scrupulously. Did he look like he had a lot of patience?
"Why don’t the two of you come with me to take your statement? Officer West just returned today." Sarah smiled kindly at the two of them. They looked at Ravi who was looking coldly at them and quietly stood up to follow after Sarah.
"Haha!" Lisa could not hold it and burst out laughing.
"What is it?"
"Nothing." She wiped her tears away, "I have missed you, Ravi and your sweet personality."
Ravi rolled his eyes, his phone beeped and he looked at the message from Lana. It was a small update about school.
"Asher’s lunch table is filled with students. He is fine."
Ravi smiled and looked up to meet Lisa’s gaze.
"Your nephew?"
"En. He is at school." And it looks like he is making friends. The thought filled Ravi with joy. He wondered if Asher would invite some of the students home and when he did, Ravi rubbed his jaws, were they things to entertain a 13-year-old at home? He should ask Sage.
The door of the police bureau opened and someone walked in, holding a man by the shoulder. Even though he was wearing a police uniform, he looked like he had just come from a fashion shoe. Those broad shoulders, long legs and narrow waist were so wonderful accentuated by the uniform.
How many days had it been? Ravi swallowed as he looked at Arlen whose eyes instantly went to him and he smiled.
Ravi stood up, then thinking about where they were, he sat back down.
"Officer West, It is simply a pleasure to see you here."
The way he said those words made Ravi feel like he was heating up from the inside out and from the joy in those blue eyes Arlen was so aware of the effect that his words had on him.
"Thank you, Captain." He said, his eyes on his.
The person being arrested felt like he had been ignored for long enough so he broke out in a loud ugly sob, he held his stomach, "It hurts, It really hurts. Officer, why don’t you let me lie down for a while."
"Stop pretending. Your stomach did not hurt when he stole the lady’s purse, now did it?"
Lisa stood up and walked to Arlen with a grin on her face, "Captain, What are we booking him for?"
"Robbery." He passed the man to Lisa, who held the man’s shoulder, pushing him towards the holding cell.
The man’s sobbing grew even louder and was more grieved, "My head really hurts. Call a doctor. I demand a doctor. Officer, pity me. My seven children are starving and on the verge of death."
"Wasn’t it your stomach that was hurting before?" Draco called out and the robber who was now holding his head, stiffened and put his hand on his stomach.
"Ahhh! My stomach."
"Don’t disturb our ears. Cry in court." Lisa said as she put the man in the holding cell. The man was about to start again but one look from those in the holding cell, he controlled himself and went to the corner, sobbing quietly.
Sergeant Tom came down the stairs with a hand filled with old folders, "Captain. You are back. We were all saying how we wanted to welcome Officer West with some good old-fashioned barbecue. It has not been easy on him."
He looked at other team members and they nodded quickly, echoing Sergeant Tom’s words without flinching.
"Yes, we have been talking about it. It has not been easy on Officer West at all, first the fire and then the kidnapping. We would like to treat him so he can relax. I am sure if the Captain asks the Chief, he would definitely agree and give us his card."
Arlen smiled, "And you all are doing this for Officer West."
"Of course." Draco’s voice was even more righteous than ever, "We have been so worried about Officer West that we can not sleep."
"Officer Brown, you slept from 10 a.m yesterday morning to 1 p.m"
Draco coughed, "Aside from that incident. I have been pretty sleepless."
"That is not even grammatically correct."
Draco gritted his teeth, "Officer Johnson, do you want the barbecue or not? Cause I am very sure you have not had meat throughout this year?"
Sarah sensing another fight was brewing, stood up from her cubicle, "We have not gone out together for a while, Captain what do you think?"
Arlen looked at Ravi, "We are toasting Officer West so the decision lies with him, what do you think, Officer West?"
The way Arlen called his name was just pure sin. Ravi licked his lips to moisten them when he noticed Arlen’s gaze momentarily went to his lips.
He smiled.
