Chapter 188: 188: Transformation

---

Her claws flashed once, twice, a spiral spin mid-air. With a bone-shattering CRACK, her paw struck the frogkin’s skull from the side, twisting it like a bottle cap. His bulging eyes froze wide for half a second—and then his limp body crashed to the mud, neck bent in an unnatural way.

Steam rose from the swampy crater where his head landed. A lone mosquito buzzed past in silence. Somewhere, a toad croaked a single, judgmental blorp.

The lone survivor—the storyteller—stood frozen. Urine puddled again beneath his webbed feet, steam curling around his legs. His lower lip quivered like a poisoned slug tossed in a blender.

"I should’ve gone to Frog law school..." he whispered with dead eyes .

From the other end of the ruined clearing, the Frog-Man’s chest heaved. His voice, when it came, was no longer croaking amusement.

It was wrath. "You..." he snarled. "You humiliated me."

His massive legs spread wide. His breath came in steaming bursts like volcanic vents. Mucus dripped from his cheeks in glowing trails. Every muscle in his bulbous body twitched with suppressed fury. His belly stopped jiggling. His hands clenched into stone-breaking fists.

Kai turned slightly, casually rotating his neck until a deep pop echoed. "Not done yet."

He jerked his chin toward Azhara. "Back up."

"Already moving," she muttered, hopping behind a scorched root and tossing one last amused glance at the survivor frogkin. "You might wanna run... It’s about to get real."

Akayoroi crouched at the crater’s edge, antennae trembling with reverence. Her voice dropped to a whisper. "He’s going to fight the Frog-Man now..."

Naaro nodded like a stunned acolyte. "After humiliating their entire tribe and forcing one to do... catgirl impressions. One to piss on their kin..."

Vel groaned. "We’re going to need so much therapy after this."

Sha held her spear tightly. "We can’t afford therapy. Let’s just write this off as trauma bonding."

The battlefield seemed to hold its breath.

Birds went silent. The steam from the bloodied earth thickened, hissing like the breath of dying gods. A low tremor passed beneath their feet as if the swamp itself recoiled from what was about to happen.

The final act had begun.

The Frog-Man stepped forward, now monstrous and towering. His humor was gone. The jiggling, slime-slick belly had hardened into thick muscle armor. His red eyes glowed like coals. Veins pulsed with foul green energy as his aura burst forth in swampy waves. It was pungent, fetid, aggressive.

From above, clouds darkened. A bolt of sickly green lightning cracked through the sky like a herald of doom.

And the Ant Lord Monarch... Didn’t step back. Instead—he stepped forward. One click. One stomp. One shift.

A pulse of heat blasted out.

Kai’s figure darkened, obsidian muscle armor reshaping his body, more jagged, more regal. His antennae curved into twin black blades. Red-hot veins shimmered under his carapace like molten lava. His mandibles flared with white fire, his tail lengthened into a segmented whip covered in metallic plates. Spiked armor burst from his forearms like royal gauntlets.

And his eyes... His eyes became rings of glowing crimson, layered with silver pupils—inhuman, divine, cruel.

All who saw it froze in the moment.

Vel dropped her blade. Naaro sank to one knee. Sha stared, breathless.

Akayoroi’s breath caught in her throat. Her heart fluttered wildly. "I... I think I’m in love," she whispered.

Vel looked at her like she’d grown a second thorax. "You can’t say things like that! You are a queen."

"LOOK AT HIM... SO POWERFUL, and he just evolved," Akayoroi replied, eyes glowing with girlish adoration. "He’s like... a sexy apocalypse." free𝑤ebnovel.com

Naaro coughed. "I feel like I should bow. Ask him to be his."

"Don’t," Sha hissed. "That’s how harems start."

Meanwhile, Azhara just leaned against a boulder, arms crossed, smiling like a pervert in heat. "If he grows one more spike, I swear I’ll pin him down myself. I really want to feel him inside me..."

The final frogkin aka the storyteller collapsed backward into the swamp and played dead. "I’ll just pretend I’m a log... don’t look at me, I am log... don’t look at me, I am log." he murmured again and again.

In the center of it all, the Frog-Man took a step back. His feet skidded slightly. "Wh-what are you?" he croaked.

Kai’s voice came like thunder wrapped in silk. "Your last opponent."

Frog-Man screamed, aura bursting outwards in a tidal wave of green and bile. "I will kill you." He began to change.

His body twisted. His back split with sickening cracks. Bony spines erupted. Extra arms burst from his ribs. His belly bloated grotesquely, and dozens of frog-like eyes opened across his chest. A long, barbed tongue whipped the air like a cursed banner. Swamp rot poured from his pores.

The earth cracked beneath him. His aura darkened the trees. The sky wept algae. And yet... Kai didn’t flinch. He just rolled his shoulders and flexed his claws.

Azhara whistled. "Oh, baby. This one’s gonna be hot. Hey girls, prepare some clean clothes, you might need to wipe your creams."

The battlefield hushed. Even the insects dared not chirp. The sky above pulsed an eerie orange as if the world itself held its breath.

The Frog-Man stood tense, mucus bubbling at the edges of his jaw. His beady eyes twitched toward the last of his minions—broken, sniveling, soaked in humiliation and piss. Around the rim of the crater, corpses cooled, steam rose, and silence reigned like a tombstone.

Across from him... Kai.

Still. Calm. Silent. Not smiling. Not mocking.

Behind him, Akayoroi couldn’t take her eyes off him. Her mandibles clicked, but no words came. Her antennae twitched, pulse fluttering like a girl catching sight of her first crush at the mating festival.

"He’s..." she whispered, "...beautiful."

"Queen," Vel coughed. "Please. Not the time."

"I feel like my thorax is glowing." one ant said.

"I don’t need to know that." Vel replied.
