I Became An Eldritch Horror-Chapter 21: Mystery, Magic And Mayhem (2)
"And as the kingdom of Elon in Korinth Section faces another attack from strangers, the world asks the same question: what are the heroes doing, and why is the goddess Uriel not giving her subjects directions?"
Glancing at the large screen of the digital billboard across the street, I couldn’t help but notice the difference in that bitch’s world.
The last time I had been here, it was a lot better. A fusion of murim and technology. Now, it was only tech that filled the world.
’I guess she had a change of mind.’ After her whole rant five thousand years ago about not liking fully tech worlds.
Still, the world was beautiful.
People walked the neat streets, and police drones patrolled each and every direction. Cars buzzed across the roads, even those that could float.
In the sky, jets that strangely resembled hot air balloons flew overhead, a digital banner hanging underneath.
A small smile formed on my face. ’Enough of that, Flawless.’
Glancing around, I caught sight of a woman leaning on the glass window of a restaurant. Out of everyone on the road, she stood out in particular. Not only was she much prettier than the girls on the street, but she had mana too.
I doubted the people on the road knew that. At this point, what I needed most was the Mirror of Truth. If I could get that, then it was safe sailing from here on out.
To be honest, I didn’t know anything about the so-called Mirror of Truth. I heard about it from one of the sons of bitches who were my subordinates. According to him, the Mirror of Truth was able to bring out the best of someone’s ability and title.
That meant that with it, I could really become Flawless and the end of all things.
After he had finished talking about it, we went to steal it, and although we succeeded, I didn’t get to see it, since one of those traitors thought it was a nice idea to start switching it between themselves every few thousand years so no one could steal it from them.
Knowing that bastard, he wouldn’t change his schedule, thinking I was still imprisoned. And if I did my math well, then this year was Uriel’s year.
I crossed the street to where the girl stood. She seemed to be waiting for someone, and the closer I got to her, the more I couldn’t help but admire her.
White hair that fell on her shoulder, with pale blue eyes that almost seemed white. She looked like someone I had seen before, though I couldn’t place my hand on it.
The moment I reached where she stood, her face visibly contorted. I was a handsome-looking guy, my name was literally Flawless, so it couldn’t be my looks.
The girl, who wore a tight long gown that clung to her curves, stared directly at me with disgust. After what seemed like another thousand years, she asked, "Why are you blocking my view?"
’Why does she sound like that?’ The girl’s voice sounded Scottish, although she looked Chinese.
The white-haired woman clenched her hands by her sides. ’Is she angry?’
I took a deep breath and asked in the most Scottish accent I could pull off, "Hello, miss, can you please tell me where I can find the Mirror of Truth?..."
Only after the words left my lips did I realize what I said. I had just asked her directly what I wanted. Where did the devious manipulator even go?
I facepalmed at my own stupidity. ’Should I just kill her? It was going to be a shame but....’ My thoughts stopped abruptly as I raised my gaze.
Usually, when I interact with girls, they get all flustered because of my looks and do whatever I say. Dare I say that I was the hottest man in the universe.
However... the girl in front of me wasn’t blushing, flustered, or even flinching.
"Did I lose my touch?" I whispered to myself as the woman stared at me with pure disgust.
Shaking my head, I asked, "Is something on my face?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
The girl, who had been quiet and just showing her contempt, finally sighed. "Yes, actually, something is on your face. On every part of your face."
I tilted my head in confusion, then shifted my face a little away from hers and stared at the mirror.
What was staring at me was nothing like my old self.
Black hair that had almost turned brown, with a length almost reaching my toes—mind you, I was 185 cm tall. My skin was so dirty it was shining green, and my clothes were complete rags.
Even without smelling myself, I could already tell that I smelled like the destiny of beggars mixed with the rottenness of the minds of otakus back in the day.
I nearly gasped at the sight. Looking back at the girl, who now had her hand on her waist, only a few decisions came to mind.
1. Just walk away. This was the safest option. But I didn’t come back from the dead to play safe.
2. Rizz her even with my smelling body and rotting skin. Yeah, that wouldn’t work even for me.
3. Just be me.
I let out a soft smile, placing a hand on my chest. "Don’t worry, I’m usually handsome."
The girl just stared at me now. Not in disgust, but a blank stare. Then without warning, she burst into laughter. After a second more, she began choking on the odor coming from me.
"You’re a really funny guy," she said after a good laugh.
I had not meant to make her laugh, but whatever.
Wiping the edge of her eyes, she asked, "What did you want to know again?"
I thought for a moment, then answered, "Can you take me to a bathhouse?"
She just smiled. "I guess so," she then added playfully. "Better make sure you aren’t scamming me about being handsome."
The girl turned around and began walking in front of me. She was a strange person; without even knowing me, she was helping me.
I grinned. ’Maybe getting that mirror will be easier than expected.’
Just wait for me, world, because I, Flawless, was back.
