Hikari floated in the air bewildered. She stared down at an army, but there was no panic. Once again, she felt a similar situation to the one before. This guy was comparable to that demon she'd faced in Amalin. Even his level was on par with that one at 600.

Also, the familiar presence of that rat and the phantom from before floated next to him.

Observing Hikari and the dragon, Nhaal decided to speak. "Was it you who unleashed that spell and easily disposed of my skeletal dragon?"

Kurayami shrugged and cleaned her claws. "So what if it was?"

The ancient undead chuckled. "That was quite a display, but what is it you hope to gain from standing in our way? Do you know of your defiance to the black rose? If you did not know of your actions before, know that you stand in the way of our goddess. Why not surrender and come to our side?"

Kurayami scoffed. "You'd ask a noble dragon to surrender to ants? Don't get confused. Just because millions of ants gather doesn't mean I won't spread my wings and use my flames to clean my nest. Besides, I wouldn't serve anyone other than Master. Know your place, lich."

The glowing orbs of Nhaal burned brighter. The indicator of his rage, yet he didn't unleash his army as expected. Kurayami's provocations were not yet enough to send him into madness.

Hikari wondered if liches could even feel strong emotions. She'd been calculating in her mind how to deal with all of them at once without the side effect of leveling the city or worse...She didn't particularly want more followers sprouting up from the rubble and praising her. Yet, she understood that all of these people held Hope in their hearts, and it was something she was unwilling to banish.

"I see," Nhaal finally said, "you being a dragon...Now, it makes sense why you were able to wipe out that ambush." He looked towards Hikari and her pure white wings. "And I guess that means your master is a goddess of order? In that case, why does she float before me? Why does she not let her follower handle this on her own?"

Kurayami shook her head. "Do not presume we're equals. Even if we're both following a master, there's a difference. Even if your goddess was standing before me right now, I'd eviscerate her."

"Such arrogance." Finally, the undead had enough. With his staff pointed forward he commanded the army to march forward. "Kill everyone in this city." He looked towards the phantom on his side who'd not said a word. "We will take these two on ourselves."

Hikari pointed her staff and erected a golden hemisphere around all of the undead. "Now hold on a minute. All of the yapping is making it hard for me to figure out how I should deal with you, but I can't let you just march on the city. Personally, I don't really have anything against undead, and all of this wasn't really my fight to begin with. But you've went to far by attacking this city while I was in it."

Nhaal spun around and looked in puzzlement. "A light barrier? Even if you are a goddess, don't you think this is a bit of an under estimation?"

The undead pointed his black great staff towards the wall. A large black globule floated towards it. The instant it made contact with the barrier, it began to spread along its surface, eating away at it. However, each eaten chunk was immediately regenerated.

Nhaal's glowing eyes shrunk and watched the spectacle. "I'd have not expected a regenerating barrier."

Hikari shook her head. "That's not a regenerating barrier."

For a second, Nhaal's mouth hung open as if she'd spoken something absurd. "What do you mean?"

"It's just what it sounds like. That's a normal [Holy Barrier]. It's just that I can cast another one on top of it as soon as your spell starts eating it."

"What? Do you mean to toy with me? How much mana must it cost to keep erecting the same barrier? And can such a lowly barrier even defend against my attack?"

Hikari shrugged, her expression changing ever so slightly into a smirk. Indeed, since coming to this world there was something she'd often tried testing. She'd had the spells from [Gensuba] ingrained into her essence. It was as if calling on them became second nature, yet there were a few new spells that were also second nature.

For example, she'd never had the ability to traverse worlds, and she never remembered having the ability to create a domain of boundless energy. Her adroit use of the staff never diminished, but she'd never actually created her own spell. All of it was done under a blueprint.

This made her curious. What even were spells? They were something people used mana to cast, yet all of the spells followed the same formulas. Many of them were pre-existing, but the elven goddess wondered if all of them were created. Were spell formations a law of the universe? If such a thing were true, it would make it vastly difficult for Hikari to cast any spell imaginable.

Furthermore, it begged even more questions. People were often born with a propensity towards one element or a few elements, yet many of them had no inclination to other magics.

To prove the point, if Hikari simply looked towards her dragon, Kurayami was gifted in darkness, and Hikari was favored by light. It was all mana, so why then could Hikari not simply cast a [Water Sphere] or a [Dark Sphere]? Of all of her ruminations, Hikari would only be trying one of them on this day.

Indeed, the elven goddess wished to try a something she'd never done before—a use of magic not guided by any instinct.

Hikari finally answered the undead. "If you think you can break out, go ahead and try. How about a wager?"

"A wager?" Nhaal asked in befuddlement.

"Yes," Hikari said, pointed her staff towards him. "If you can break out of these barriers in 5 minutes, then I will let you destroy the city uninhibited. I will only cast this same spell over and over again. If any of you step foot outside the barrier, you win."

"Interesting, and if I lose?"

"Then you'll all be swallowed up by the light of Hope."

"I believe I've been underestimated," Nhaal said. "Very well, I accept your proposal. Such a foolish thing as it is."

Hikari nodded. "Alright, your time starts...Now."

The ancient undead lich king started—Balag Nhaal—started immediately. He summoned another black globule and hurled it at the surface of the ring. Once again, the barrier formed again.

His undead eyes burned with a newfound competitive spirit. He launched another globule. Another. Another. Over and over again, they impacted the barrier.

He began hurling them so fast that hundreds of them impacted the same spot within a second.

Yet, Hikari's speed at establishing the barriers was even faster. The moment one of them landed, another barrier formed. It happened so quickly and with such precision that to the naked eye it looked like none of the barrier ever vanished.

Nhaal laughed while watching the spectacle. "Well, this is certainly quite something, but how long will you last if even more attacks of different varieties attack in different locations?"

Hikari didn't even respond. She simply waited to see what he would do. It was as if he'd become a test subject. A rather fitting end for someone like him.

This time Nhaal responded with his minions, sending them forward. They crashed into the barrier, and the phantoms began casting spells all around in every direction. Rot. Decay. Famine. Darkness. Necromancy. All of the chaotic arts attacked in tandem.

Nhaal increased the speed of his own spell, and he also changed their directions. More than globules, the decaying necromancy attacked like a hydrant in all directions. Every second millions of attacks landed against the simple [Holy Barrier]. Yet none of them escaped the inside.

The lich king began growing frustrated with each passing second. How could she have enough mana to keep casting the same spell over and over again? How had Hikari not run out?

However, for Hikari the answer was quite simple. This spell didn't even cost her a thousand mana. Her regeneration of mana was fast enough that every cast was regenerated in micro seconds. The secret lay in her domain.

Inside of Hikari's domain she basically had infinite mana. So how can she realistically use her domain without bringing it down and causing chaos to the surroundings?

It was simple. The elf funneled her domain into her skin. It acted as a thin white barrier surrounding her. Anyone looking at her could see her glowing.

"This is impossible!" Nhaal protested. "There is no one capable of this! You lied! This is a regenerating barrier!"

And so after 4 minutes, Nhaal changed his method of attack. It was clear to see that the pour undead was running out of juice. Desperation assailed him.

"[Summon: Skeletal Dragons]!"

Four dragons warped into the air from a black vortex. Each one of them appeared the same as the one Kurayami defeated.

The dragon in question merely scoffed. "Hmph."

"Go Skeletal Dragons! Attack the barrier with disintegration, and target its regeneration!"

Each of the dragon's obeyed his command, the shot off green beams that acted to block whatever regenerating effect the barrier had.

Of course, Hikari had not lied, so all of their efforts became futile.

20 seconds.

The undead became even more desperate. As his mana began to run empty, he started sucking many of the lesser undead army into himself, and replenishing the remaining mana with a necromantic art.

15 seconds.

He changed his method of attack from globules to high costing waves of pure disintegration power. Each pulse ended up killing many of his own minions, but all of their mana was siphoned back into him.

10 seconds.

The heavy attack hit every single area of the barrier at once. Yet another one came to retake its place faster than anyone could follow.

5 seconds.

Nhaal began shouting madly. "How is this possible!?"

3 seconds.

Nhaal sucked in the remaining undead to his own body. In a last desperate attempt, he cast a spell that would cost every single point of his mana.

"[Decaying Providence]!"

A huge explosion of pure dark miasma filled the barrier. This miasma disintegrated all of the atoms in the air, turning the entire interior of the barrier into a miasma storm.

0 seconds.

"Time's up," Hikari said.

Her barrier glowed hot white. It was to the point that one could not even see inside. The hemisphere became a divine realm barrier. Slowly, she began to shrink it inwards.

The white circle became shorter and shorter. The shouts of the undead inside became muffled so that not even Hikari could hear what he was saying.

Finally, it collapsed in on itself until it disappeared completely. All of the contents inside. Nhaal. The undead army. The miasma. They all simply ceased to exist.

Hikari had erased their existence from the universe. In another world it was said that matter could not be created or destroyed. Then what is this?
