Chapter 110: Turning Enemies Into Allies (1)

Based on Evil Roxanna’s memories, the Black Fang Tribe was a tiger tribe.

Unlike other tribes that welcomed beastkins from many different species, the Black Fang Tribe was extremely strict. They never accepted new members unless they were from the tiger descendants.

They didn’t even want mixed-blood children because to them, those children were already "tainted" by dirty blood.

Roxanna honestly didn’t understand why they had such a strong superiority complex, but it seemed like carnivore beastkins often acted that way.

That was also why herbivore beastkins went extinct faster when the voids appeared.

It wasn’t only because demon beasts started showing up. It was also because some carnivore tribes—those who thought they were above everyone else—raided weaker tribes and enslaved them.

"Leader, what should we do?!" the guard shouted in panic.

Roxanna bit her lower lip.

This was the first time she had ever faced a serious conflict between tribes. Who would have thought it would happen this soon?

But... she had survived years of torment under her ex-husband. Compared to that, she could face any storm in this life!

"If we close the gate... won’t they just break it down?" Roxanna asked.

Zeir nodded. "Yes. That’s exactly what they would do." He paused, then added, "At least, that’s what I’ve heard from other tribes."

Roxanna let out a tired sigh, then said calmly, "If that’s the case... then let’s just open the gate and let them come in."

The people around her immediately gasped, not expecting their leader to make that kind of decision.

"Leader, you can’t do that!" Marlow shouted. "Have you lost your damn mind?!"

Marlow, who had been happy that he no longer had to be a commander, suddenly felt stressed, thinking that Roxanna might not be capable of fulfilling her role as a tribe leader.

Honestly, Roxanna felt that some of them had been looking down on her ever since she said she wasn’t the evil Roxanna, and that Loba had locked her up inside the cave.

She had already expected that something like this would happen, but still... sometimes they would blatantly speak badly about her right in front of her, even before she could explain her reasoning.

"Of course we can try to fight them," Roxanna began, keeping her voice calm. But she also had to add a few lies to make her plan sound convincing. "My husbands once told me that the Black Fang Tribe is a tribe that shows no mercy," she said.

"Once they lock onto a target, they will keep chasing us until they get what they want." She added, "And half of them have probably already been hiding around our tribe. They’ll attack anyone who tries to run away."

She shook her head. "Running isn’t the right choice, and if we choose to fight them head-on..." she finished slowly, "we’ll lose too many lives."

[Ding! Ding!]

[Side Mission Activated: Turn Enemies Into Allies!]

[Goal: Form a temporary cooperation agreement with the Black Fang Tribe without losing your tribe’s dignity.]

[Reward: Black Fang Token — Effect: A proof of cooperation recognized by all Black Fang members. Any Black Fang warrior who sees it cannot attack you unless their tribe leader gives a direct order.]

Roxanna narrowed her eyes slightly because the reward would be useless if the Black Fang leader simply ordered his warriors to attack her anyway.

But if that was the case, then she only had to make sure their leader would never even have the thought of attacking her. Since the Black Fang Tribe was completely ruled by hierarchy, aiming at the leader alone was more than enough.

[Host, do you need the system’s assistance?] the system suddenly asked. [If you pay—]

[No. I don’t need your assistance.] Roxanna answered right away. [I think I can still handle it.]

She had already spent so many Spirit Points today, so she didn’t want to spend more. As long as she wasn’t pushed into a corner, she refused to buy the system’s "assistance service."

Besides, she already had a plan.

"So, Marlow," Roxanna said calmly, "do you understand what I mean now?"

She purposely emphasized his name.

It was her way of reminding him that he was no longer a commander, so he no longer had any power over the Vixeria Tribe’s warriors.

Fortunately, Marlow was able to understand her, so they didn’t need to argue because of their different opinions.

"Leader! The Black Fang Tribe is getting closer!" the guard shouted again.

Roxanna finally replied, "Open the gate now!"

The guard immediately turned toward Zeir, like he was waiting for Zeir’s approval, and like he needed to make sure Zeir didn’t think his wife was asking for something insane.

However, Zeir didn’t say anything, nor did he nod at the guard. He simply wanted them to understand that Roxanna’s rank was still above his, and they should listen to her instead of seeking his approval.

[But why aren’t my husbands saying anything? Even Cyrus and Azul haven’t said a word.] Roxanna wondered silently.

She knew they were her husbands, but usually in a crisis, people would blame each other, even if that person was their own spouse.

[Are they staying quiet because they think my idea is too stupid?] Roxanna worried again. [Maybe it really is stupid. Maybe I should come up with another plan.]

The moment Roxanna started to lose confidence, Zeir finally spoke. "I believe in our Leader’s judgment."

He also decided to speak up because it seemed the guard didn’t want to trust Roxanna. "She may have only been our leader for a few days," Zeir continued, "but unlike her twin sister, our Leader truly loves this tribe."

He looked at the people around them, making sure everyone heard him. "And she will do anything to protect the people here."

Zeir paused for a moment, then he said with full confidence, "That’s why... I believe that no matter what she decides to do, she would never make a choice that brings a huge loss to this tribe."

After hearing Zeir’s words, the guards finally stopped arguing. They didn’t say anything else, and simply moved at once to open the gate.

Roxanna watched them, feeling a strange bitterness in her chest because it was almost ironic.

They needed a man’s approval before they could trust her words. Even in a world where women were already rare, and even in a world that should’ve valued women more than ever, they still treated women like they were second-class.

But yeah... it wasn’t anything new, so Roxanna wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it for now. Besides, there was something far more important waiting right in front of her.

She took a slow breath, then stepped forward until she stood at the very entrance of the gate.

Not long after, she finally saw many tiger beastkins, both beastmen and beastwomen, riding horses toward the Vixeria Tribe.

[I thought they would come here in their tiger forms instead.] Roxanna pressed her lips together and thought, [I’m kind of disappointed, honestly.]

Even though tigers were terrifying, they were still part of the same family as cats. That was why Roxanna had secretly wanted to see them in their beast forms, even just once.

Maybe it was silly, but she couldn’t help it.

But of course, she didn’t dare say that out loud because this wasn’t the time for that, and the moment the Black Fang warriors got closer, she could clearly feel the pressure coming from them.

Their eyes were sharp. Their posture was straight. Their bodies were tense like they were ready to fight at any moment.

Honestly, they didn’t look like people who came to negotiate, but they looked like people who came to take.

The tiger beastman leading them was the scariest among them all. He sat on his horse with confidence, like he was already certain of victory. His long hair was tied back neatly, but a few loose strands still fell over his forehead.

His golden eyes swept across the Vixeria Tribe’s gate, then slowly landed on Roxanna, and the moment he saw her, his lips curved into a strange smile.

It wasn’t friendly. It was the kind of smile a predator gave when it found something interesting.

He raised one hand, and the entire group stopped in perfect order. The horses stomped on the ground, snorting softly.

Then the leader spoke in a tone full of arrogance. "I never expected that a tribe leader who is nothing but skin and bones would stand here at the gate waiting for my arrival like this."

He smiled at her so widely that his fangs showed at the corners of his lips. "I’m quite impressed by your stupid bravery, little foxie." He added, "But since you look beautiful, I can forgive you."

Roxanna’s eye twitched at the corner, because for some reason, he was trying to belittle her while also flirting with her. Couldn’t this man just pick one?

Besides, she already had five husbands, and it looked like they would cut this man’s dick off if he tried to become number six.
