I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 129: Climbing Into the Snowy Domain (2)
Roxanna felt her feet grow heavier with every step. After walking through the snow for hours, it became harder and harder to move. They held hands tightly, and every time one of them almost sank into the snow, the others would pull them back up.
"This snow is endless," Luan muttered through clenched teeth. It was the first time Roxanna had seen her husbands look so close to breaking down.
Falling from high places was nothing to them. Jumping into underground rivers and climbing steep cliffs had never scared them. But this cold... this endless cold was different. It slowly crept into their minds, making it hard to think straight.
"Do you think we’re going the right way?" Luan asked again, his voice sounded tired.
"Who knows?" Cyrus replied sharply. "Do you think I know every path in this world?"
"You’re a bird. Just fly up and look," Luan snapped back. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Cyrus clicked his tongue. "The wind is too strong. My wings would freeze if I tried to fly around this stupid mountain."
Before their voices could rise any higher, Roxanna squeezed their hands. "Don’t fight," she said softly. Her teeth were chattering. She was so cold that it felt like the chill had reached her bones. "We have to stay together. If we don’t, we might die here."
It was easy to say those words, but staying calm in this cold was almost impossible.
"Damn it..." Roxanna suddenly stopped.
"What is it?" Luan asked quickly. "Did we miss something?"
"No," she said slowly. "I think a snowstorm is coming."
The wind began to howl. Snow started falling harder from the dark sky. Just like she had feared, the weather in this world was always strange, especially on a mountain like this.
"We need a shelter," Roxanna said.
"T-The tent?" Cyrus tried to answer, but his voice shook. He didn’t even notice he was stuttering. Maybe because the cold had drained all his strength. "I don’t think it can block this cold."
Roxanna thought the same. The tent material was too thin to resist a snowstorm, but they were in the middle of nowhere, and she couldn’t find any other shelter like a cave nearby.
"W-Wait here," she said. "I’ll look for something with my portal magic."
She walked a few steps away and turned her back to them. Her hands were shaking as she opened the system market and scrolled through the items.
[System, do you have anything that can help us?] she asked quietly.
The system replied at once. [There is a special tent that blocks 80% of the cold, Host. But it is expensive.]
Roxanna asked weakly, "H-How much?"
[10,000 SP, Host!]
Damn it! That was too expensive!
It felt like Roxanna had just been robbed by the system. But when she turned around and saw how miserable her husbands looked in the cold, she finally said, [Alright, I’ll buy it.]
[Ding! Ding!]
[Purchased: 1 Magic Heat Tent: 10,000 SP]
[Remaining Spirit Points (SP): 74,300]
A moment later, the tent fell from the sky and landed in front of her. Before she could even speak, Luan and Cyrus rushed over and grabbed it.
"L-Let’s set it up near the cliff," Roxanna said, pointing. "It should block some of the wind."
Even though their hands were numb and their bodies were shaking, they worked as fast as they could because they had to finish before the storm swallowed them whole.
The wind grew louder with every second, howling like a wild beast around them. Snow hit their faces and clothes, making it hard to keep their eyes open.
"Hurry..." Roxanna whispered, her fingers stiff as she tried to hold the tent poles.
"I’m trying!" Luan replied, struggling to push one stake into the frozen ground. His hands were so cold that he could barely feel them anymore.
Cyrus was on the other side, using his body to block some of the wind. "This storm is getting worse," he said through clenched teeth. "If we don’t finish soon, we won’t be able to see anything."
Snow piled up around their boots, and every step felt heavier than before.
Just before the wind became even stronger, they finally managed to set up the tent and rushed inside.
Roxanna quickly closed the entrance and tied it tightly. Only then did she let out a long breath of relief. The tent really worked. It blocked most of the cold from outside.
Sadly, it could only block about 80% of the cold. That meant they still needed another way to stay warm if they wanted to feel comfortable.
Roxanna took out the heating stones and handed one to each of her husbands. Then, they sat close together, hoping the warmth would slowly spread through their bodies.
But their jackets were soaked with snow. As the cold melted into the fabric, it only made them shiver even more.
Roxanna hugged herself and suddenly said, "Let’s take off our clothes." The words slipped out before she even thought about them.
"What?" Luan turned to her at once, eyes wide. "Y-You want to mate here?"
He wasn’t against being naked in front of other beastkins. But Roxanna was always shy when it came to taking off her clothes in front of others. Over time, Luan had started to think that she would only do it when she was bathing after turning into her fox form, or when she wanted to mate.
Roxanna, on the other hand, widened her eyes because she didn’t expect that kind of question. "No! That’s not what I meant!" she shouted quickly, her face turning red.
Cyrus blinked in surprise and looked back and forth between them. "Then what do you mean?" he asked carefully.
Roxanna covered her face with both hands, feeling her cheeks burn. "I mean... our clothes are wet," she said in a small voice. "They’re full of snow and ice. If we keep wearing them, we’ll only get colder."
She slowly lowered her hands and looked at them. "We should take them off, dry them, and wrap ourselves in blankets instead."
