I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 736 - 504
After all, they frequently performed Coin Magic themselves, and coins were props that everyone possessed. But their performance and Xia Liang's were two entirely different concepts. The audience was eager to see what kind of effect a simple trick like Coin Magic would have in Xia Liang's hands. Even more people, however, wanted to find a flaw in his magic. For many, the true pleasure of watching a magic show was finding the loophole, analyzing the trick, and then sharing their discovery to prove their own prowess.
"You're actually going to perform Coin Magic? Impressive. I'm very interested to see what new tricks you can pull off. A moment ago, you used that little girl to expose the flaw in my Spoon Magic. Now, I'll return the favor and expose the loophole in yours!" Peng Changye said, smiling at Xia Liang.
As a top Magician who had been practicing since the age of five, Peng Changye had decades of experience. It was safe to say that even if he couldn't perform a certain trick, he knew the secret behind it. This was especially true for Coin Magic; he couldn't be more familiar with it. This time, he was determined to make this arrogant young man suffer a defeat, allowing him to even the score.
"I welcome it. Everyone here is free to look for loopholes during my performance," Xia Liang said with a faint smile, then continued, "However, I need a volunteer to assist me with this trick. Is anyone willing?"
The moment Xia Liang finished speaking, Peng Changye shot a look at the female host beside him. Understanding his cue, she immediately stepped forward. "Handsome, how about me?"
The hostess was still displeased that Peng Changye's earlier trick had been exposed, thinking it had been too careless. But they were on the same team, after all. When Peng Changye was humiliated, she naturally felt embarrassed as well. So, when he signaled for her to volunteer, she understood his intention was for her to help expose a flaw in Xia Liang's magic. The hostess was more than happy to comply. She wanted Peng Changye to even the score and save some face for their production team.
Xia Liang smiled. "Yes, you'll be perfect. But do you have a coin on you? To keep the magic fair, I won't use my own props."
To him, it didn't matter who came up to assist; the result would be the same. Even if Peng Changye himself volunteered, Xia Liang was confident the Magician wouldn't find a single flaw. After all, what others performed was stage magic; his was the real thing.
"Sure," the hostess said, an excited smile on her face as she pulled a coin from her pocket and handed it to Xia Liang. "Will this coin do?"
It was a coin with a notch in it, making it unique and easily recognizable—perfect for preventing any chance of sleight of hand. In the audience's view, this particular coin made Xia Liang's upcoming trick much more challenging. Performing flawlessly and dazzling everyone without revealing any loopholes would be exceptionally difficult. Even Peng Changye's face lit up with excitement when he saw the notched coin, as if victory was already in his grasp.
Xia Liang took the coin from the hostess, toyed with it for a moment, and smiled. "Alright, we'll use this coin."
He was well aware of the hostess's intentions, but he didn't care in the slightest. The Coin Magic he'd received from the System had no requirements for props; any coin would work, even an ancient one. Still, Xia Liang was surprised that she just happened to have a damaged coin in her pocket. An ordinary Magician attempting to perform Coin Magic would have been stumped by such a prop. It was just like Peng Changye's Spoon Magic—once the props were changed, he could no longer conjure spoons at will or perform fancier variations.
Xia Liang held the coin in his hand. With a quick shake of his right wrist, he opened his palm to show the coin had vanished. Another flick, and it reappeared in his palm. He then tossed the coin gently into the air, caught it on the tip of his index finger, and set it spinning rapidly without any sign of falling. It was like spinning a basketball on a fingertip, but a coin and a basketball were in completely different leagues. A basketball is large and easy to control, but a coin is different. Its point of contact is minuscule, just a single spot touching the finger. The slightest mistake would send it tumbling. However, in Xia Liang's hands, the coin was as agile as his own arm, appearing wherever he willed it to be.
Of course, this kind of coin manipulation was something many Magicians could do, so it wasn't considered particularly remarkable in the field. To an average person, however, it was already incredible.
"Whoa, that's amazing! A coin dancing on his fingertip is just unbelievable."
"That handsome guy's magic is incredible! Mister, can you teach me?"
"If I learned that trick, I could charm my girlfriend so she'd never leave me!"
...
Peng Changye, standing opposite Xia Liang, remained unimpressed. After watching for a moment, he said, "If this is all your Coin Magic amounts to, then it's just a display of skill, not a magic trick."
Xia Liang smiled faintly. "Don't be so hasty. That was just a little something to warm up the crowd. The real miracle is about to begin."
With that, Xia Liang turned back to the female host with a smile. "Tell me, is this the only coin you have on you?"
The female host glanced at Peng Changye. Seeing him remain silent, she smiled and replied, "Of course, this is the only one."
Xia Liang nodded slightly. "And how long has this coin been with you?"
The female host thought for a moment. "About two days. I got it as change from the supermarket the night before last."
Xia Liang laughed. "Then do you think this coin is male or female?"
The hostess was stunned and asked instinctively, "Coins have genders?" The surrounding audience was equally bewildered by his question.
"My goodness, this is the first time I've ever heard of coins having genders! Mister, what's the deal with that?"
"Yeah, I knew animals and people had them, but coins?"
"You can't be serious. Coins have genders? Come on, mister, stop pulling our leg! We're not idiots. A coin is just a coin; there's no such thing as male or female!"
...
Xia Liang listened to the crowd's comments and said with a smile, "Of course coins have genders. They have emotions, too. Male and female coins have to be together to fall in love. Just like people, they can get together and have little baby coins. And the one in my hand right now is a female."
The hostess found this fascinating and asked with a laugh, "Really? Then show me how it gives birth to more coins. If it actually happens, then I'll believe you."
Hearing her reply, Peng Changye secretly gave the hostess a thumbs-up. That was a sharp response. Now it was all up to Xia Liang. He refused to believe Xia Liang could actually make the coin reproduce right before everyone's eyes. If he failed, Xia Liang would lose.
Xia Liang smiled. "Actually, it has already given birth to other coins on your person; you just didn't realize it. Now, I'll help you take them out for everyone to see. But don't move. If you move, these little coins might run into your body, and that would be disastrous."
The female host obviously didn't believe him, but she stood still obediently and said with a smile, "Alright, I won't move. Go ahead and find them."
Xia Liang nodded slightly and continued, "However, these little coins are quite mischievous. Only their mother can coax them out."
