I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 31: A Double Genius?

Contracted beasts were different from Innate Beast.

Innate Beasts already have their own set of skills that they can use depending on their grade. They could understand their summoner clearly and hence would be able to execute their commands more fluently. This was also the reason why most of the time, the summoners would always prioritize on nurturing their Innate Beast rather than focusing on the contracted beasts that would die and was not even eternally loyal.

Contracted Beast on the other hand would need to sense their summoner’s orders before they could execute their skills. If the beast has low intelligence, and was not familiar with its summoner, there was even a chance that it would not follow the command of its summoner and not execute its own skill.

Hence, training and familiarizing with your contracted beast was very important. Not only would it increase the beast’s loyalty and familiarity towards its summoner, it would also learn new skills in accordance with the understanding of the summoner.

Erika’s Red Sparrow for example was already a Bronze Grade when she contracted it. Training daily with it and with the directions provided by her senior, she was able to learn how to command it to use the skill, [Wing Dive], a typical skill that most bird type beasts would be able to learn with enough practice.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Innate Beast doesn’t need to train with their summoner as well. It was just that they generally has a clear connection with their summoner so they would usually be able to execute their summoner’s command fluently.

Erika asked how much time Miguel had spent training with the Volcanic Tortoise so that she could gauge whether he was truly a genius in Beast summoning as well. Being able to summon the grimoire instantly at the early stage already indicates that one was a genius, however, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they were a good summoner.

A summoner might be able to summon their grimoire instantly but if they were incapable of fighting along with their beast, then it would still be useless. Jonas for example was also able to summon his grimoire almost instantly even though he was just at Apprentice Rank.

On the other hand, due to his Innate Skill, Miguel was actually already able to command the Volcanic Tortoise to execute its three Skill.

[Rock Hard], which allows the turtle to have almost impregnable defense to opponents of the same grade and rank, [Molten Spit] that allows it to form a ball of lava and launch it towards its opponent, and then the [Lava Heal] that allowed it to heal itself from injuries by bathing itself with lava.

These were just the three skills that it can learn now being at Level 1 Bronze Grade. When it ranks up and upgrades its grade in the future, it would naturally learn more skills. Not to mention the skills it would receive if the World’s Will decided to reward it with one. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Miguel shook his head and answered honestly, "I haven’t. I have been busy practicing some martial arts these past days so I haven’t had the time to train with it for the time being."

This was the truth... well, part of the truth. But there was no reason for Miguel to tell the details clearly.

Hearing that, Marcel did not feel much as he had guessed from before that Miguel most likely has a strong Innate Talent and Innate Beast so there was no reason for him to summon the much weaker Volcanic Tortoise without any reason.

However, Erika, who had no clue, felt that it was such a waste of the Volcanic Tortoise potential.

A frown appeared on her face as she stated with aggrieved, "What? Why? The Volcanic Tortoise has a Silver Grade potential. This means that if nothing bad happened to it, it would surely reach the Silver Grade in the future. The Silver Grade is a top tier battle power already. I don’t know the exact reason why my father gave you the Volcanic Tortoise after what he went through to get it, but please don’t waste it’s potential just because of some measly martial arts."

She sighed and said with a soft tone, "You are ultimately a Grimoire Summoner after all. It’s alright to practice martial arts but please focus on honing your summoning skills rather than wasting your time in practicing martial arts, alright?"

Miguel just gently smiled after hearing her thoughts. Erika did not realize it but Miguel actually already knew that she was attracted to him. He knew that her words were just out of her worry towards him so he did not take it to heart.

"Alright," he answered.

Erika was satisfied with his answer, "Good!"

The next second, she suddenly recalled something and could not help but blurt out, "Wait, if you did not have the time to summon the Volcanic Tortoise, then how were you able to defeat that Hare and Yak yesterday?"

An unbelievable thought emerged in her mind, but he does not dare say it.

"With my martial arts and with the graded weapon, of course. As for the Yak, it was already injured so I didn’t have to do much before killing it," Miguel stated confidently.

Hearing that, Erika’s eyes suddenly lit up.

’Could it be that not only is he a summoner genius, he is also a martial art genius? A double genius?’ She thought to herself as she stared at Miguel intently.

In her opinion, becoming a Martial Artist was very difficult. Even though most could practice martial arts, this doesn’t mean that they would become strong as those who can contend with Beasts. Those who can do so were either some sort of martial arts genius, or a martial artist who had already practiced for a very long time.

The martial artists who can contend with Level 1 Normal Rank Beast and above that she saw from the main branch were all old people and geniuses and rich young masters who can buy beast meats wantonly. Most of them were also those who were not blessed in awakening a grimoire, hence they shifted their whole focus on practicing martial arts to increase their strength.

Of course, practicing martial arts doesn’t mean that one could already contend with a Normal Rank Beast. As although they were the weakest, Normal Rank beasts were still different compared to normal animals. They have their own set of skills that can easily kill a person in one blow.

Erika remained silent and no longer dared to underestimate Miguel even though he was just a ’noob’.

"Alright, let’s start the battle already," she said.

However in her mind, Erika was already questioning whether she could truly defeat Miguel in this battle.

She gritted her teeth and hardened her resolve, without wasting anymore time, she commanded the Red Sparrow to attack with its Innate Skill, [Fireball].
