Chapter 39: End, Beginning

The book that he received from Erika was already old. She said that it was sold by a senior to her at a low price compared to brand-new ones.

Miguel began to read the moment he arrived at his room.

Fortunately, Sara had always taught the fool Miguel how to read before. She believed that Miguel was only a late bloomer, hence the reason why he did not talk when he was young. She persisted in teaching him how to read in the hopes of hastening his ability to talk in the future.

Even from his previous life, Miguel has always been diligent and thirsty when it comes to knowledge. He enjoyed reading new information, especially from cultivation techniques that he can get inspiration with. He was not called the Sage of Boundless Knowledge for nothing at all.

The book that contained information of the known beasts was more appealing to him than playing with Gasper.

From introduction all the way to the last page, Miguel read the book and absorbed the knowledge contained within like a dry sponge.

The satisfaction of finishing an entire book has always been a good feeling for Miguel.

The book’s contents were just illustrations of the beasts and their basic information such as name, location and level so it did not take long for Miguel to read all of them. He only took less than an hour.

It was just the first edition and only listed low-leveled ang low grade beasts that can be found in Blazing Expanse.

The rough map of Blazing Expanse was drawn at the first page of the book. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The Blazing Expanse was very huge. It was divided into three provinces with only one governor presiding over them. The current governor of three provinces came from the Red Family. This was also part of the reason why Blazing Expanse can be called as the Red Family’s territory.

Of course, Blazing Expanse’s real ruler was the Meven Empire. The Blazing Expanse was just one of the many territories ruled over by the Meven Empire and the Red Family was just one of the four major family active in Meven Empire.

Amongst the three provinces in Blazing Expanse, the one at the center, where most of the active volcanoes in Blazing Expanse was located was called Infernal Province. The resources there were abundant but it was also very dangerous due to the environmental hazard. There were not many people there, but most of them were very strong.

At the upper right of the Infernal Province was the Flare Province. According to the book, it was the most bustling of the three provinces since the capital, Blazing City, was located there. The standard of living there was very good. The safest way for people to go to the capital of the empire was only through the northern part of the province since the Infernal Province was a dangerous place.

Below both of these provinces was Ember Province where Peach Village was located. It was the most backward place among the three provinces and there were only a handful of villages and cities in this province. The resources were rare and there were only low-leveled beasts here. Strong individuals were not willing to live in such a remote place at all.

After absorbing all this new knowledge, Miguel summoned the Volcanic Tortoise and decided to train with it.

Training, of course meant that the two of them would spar.

Time passed in the blink of an eye. It was already time for the newly awakened youths to leave the small Peach Village and begin a new journey.

After the incident with Gasper in Red Manor, his life has become relatively peaceful.

Due to his generous act the other day and due to his recent changes, the other servant kids came to apologize to him about their previous acts. They did not reason out and merely apologized for what they did wrong.

Miguel did not take them to heart as he knew that they were mostly just following Gasper’s lead at those times. He admired the fact that they did not sell out Gasper. This proved that they indeed had a little bit of loyalty on them. It seems that they were ’reprimanded’ well by their parents.

No one dared to find trouble with him and no one laid a hand on Sara either. It seems that his scheme to soften Carlota and Gasper’s attitude towards him worked very well.

He heard from Erika that Gasper was still recovering from his lost, and up until now, his Fire Wolf had still not revived yet.

This was the limitation of Innate Beasts. Even if they can be revived through the grimoire, it would take time. Hence, even with such an ability, their summoners would simply not order them to commit a suicidal act.

Erika knew a lot of information regarding their destination, the Blazing City. Miguel did not waste any time conversing casually with her and he would usually lead the conversation to inquiries regarding Blazing City and other basic knowledge that he might not know about.

"I know, don’t worry."

Miguel’s voice resonated in Sara’s ears. His voice was resolute and confident, even still, Sara could still not help but tear up upon hearing it.

Her son had grown well. It was just a few days ago that he finally became normal, and now, he was already going on a journey to prove himself. Sara was very proud of what he has become.

She smiled and adjusted the collar of his brand new linen shirt.

A day ago, Sara went to Red Stone City to buy new clothes for Miguel. She brought a lot to the point that Miguel could change into two sets of clothes a day and he would still not be able to wear all of them in a week.

The bulging bag full of clothes was carried behind Miguel’s back.

He was now wearing a white colored linen shirt and a black linen pants paired with a leather shoe. Sara specially chose this set of clothes for him to wear during their departure.

From his previous life, Miguel has always worn a robe full of inscriptions and small arrays. The style of clothing of this world was vastly different from his previous life. This change of style made him nostalgic yet it also allowed him to wake up to the reality that he was now truly in a new world.

Around him, the seven youths who awakened their grimoires before him were also bidding farewell to their parents. Some cried while the others merely gritted their teeth in resolution. All of them had great resolve and they wanted to set off on this journey to change their fate.

Not far behind all of them were eight wind horse carriages. Each of these carriages has the emblem of the Red Family imprinted on their body- a bow and arrow pointed upwards surrounded by blazing flames.

In front of these eight carriages was Erika and Marcel.

After giving a simple speech to do well in the main branch and make their village proud, Miguel and the others finally started their journey.

An end and a new beginning.

A/N: With the introduction of the provinces and the empire and a minor resolution in Gasper, Carlota and Miguel’s squabbles, this concludes the first arc of the story. This arc focused more on the introduction of the world and its power systems. Next, we will witness Miguel learning a lot of secrets of this world and probably spend more time with his summons, lol.

Thank you for reading this story and supporting this work. See you in the next arc!
