I Don't Need To Log Out-Chapter 85: Blackout (2)
"Karmel, the last boss is behind this mountain."
"I know. Let’s go."
"This is the last monster, right? After this, we’re free."
"It should be the last one. After all, we cleared them all."
A group of 13 men and women trudged toward the towering mountain, their resolve unwavering despite the weight of the battles behind them.

"Karmel, this is the one. It’s a ghost type, though, so physical attacks won’t work on it. What should we do? The tanks are useless now."
"Don’t worry. I’ll tank and attack."
The man named Karmel stepped forward, his figure imposing yet calm as he faced the spectral creature.
They charged into battle, fighting with everything they had against the final foe.

"Karmel, it is over! We won."
"Yes, we won. But it cost the life of eight of our-..."

Arlon’s vision was once again covered by blackness.

Everywhere he looked was black and he couldn’t see anything at all.
I feel like I was in here for days while watching the illusions unfold, but I have the memory of 5 minutes of it at most.
Even though no one told him anything, he knew what he saw in the illusion: the History of Trion. No, to be exact, it was the time of the heroes.
But why did I have this dream or illusion?
"You are back!" someone said.
The voice startled Arlon, though he recognized it immediately. "Yes, for some reason, I’m back," he replied cautiously, careful not to offend whoever or whatever was speaking.
A cloud of white smoke began to coalesce before him. For reasons he couldn’t explain, he could see the smoke clearly despite the surrounding void.
"I thought I needed to level up before coming here."
"Hehe! You were level 100 back then, right? You needed to be level 101 to come here"
Arlon clenched his fist, suppressing the urge to curse.
"I still can hear you." The sound said, reading Arlon’s mind, almost amused. "No, as I said before, I am not reading your mind. That is only half correct."
It was true that having his questions answered before he asked had its advantages, but it was still unsettling.
So he still asked.
"Then why didn’t you tell me I needed one level? Or why not just give me the level? That should be nothing for you."
"Then it wouldn’t be fun," the voice responded. "Well, I also couldn’t even if I wanted to. I can give you levels, but I’m not great at control, so I’d probably end up giving you 50 levels or something."
Arlon was surprised to hear that this existence wasn’t perfect. He also thought that it was a risk he was ready to take.
Still, he had more pressing questions.
"Why am I here again? And what was that illusion I saw?"
He knew the answer, but he still wanted to be sure.
The smoke took the shape of an old man who began walking toward Arlon with his hands behind his back.
His presence was overwhelming; Arlon felt this man could defeat Zephyrion without lifting a finger.
"Hmm... I’ll answer some of your questions, but not all of them," the old man said. "Firstly, you are here because of that eye skill of yours," he added, pointing at Arlon’s eyes.
"Eye skill? Do you mean the Eyes of something?"
"Yes, check its name again."
Arlon did as he was told and saw that the name had changed once again.
Eyes of K*T**
"Umm... It updated, but I still don’t get it. Why did it update now? And what’s the connection between the skill and my being here?"
"Uh! I’m an old man. Don’t overwhelm me with questions," the old man said, feigning exhaustion.
It was probably the truth that he was old, but at the same time younger than Arlon in terms of health. But Arlon still obeyed.
"Now... I can’t tell you what that eye is. But it helps you see the truth. You were reading the History of Trion, right?"
Arlon nodded.
"And you saw the true history. Ah, you probably don’t remember everything since the skill isn’t fully yours yet. But that’s fine. I’ll explain the history later."
Arlon could only say "Thank you!"
The old man began circling him. "Now, let me tell you something about the eyes. If you think they belong to someone, you’re wrong."
"Then, what is it?" Arlon asked impatiently."I can’t tell you that, but think about it. You learned two names and two letters showed themselves on the name," the man told him.
"Huh? I suppose the letter "K" showed itself when I learned the name Karmel, but what about the "T"?"
"Heh, you should have already understood it. It is Trion, obviously!"
"Trion? That doesn’t make sense. One is the name of a world while the other is the name of a Trionian." Arlon’s eyes were still following the old man circling around him. "Also, I knew the name Trion, but I couldn’t see the letter before."
"Well, they are related but I can’t tell you how. Also, you didn’t know Trion, you just knew its name. Even if you don’t remember, you saw about Trion in the illusions. But I won’t remind you of that part, since I can’t tell you yet."
"What can you tell me, then?" Arlon said, his sound angrier than he intended.
Then the man stopped in front of Arlon. "What if I told you... my name is Karmel?"
Arlon froze with shock and his ears started ringing again, but he was already used to it.
Arlon froze. "Wait a second. Are you the same Karmel who brought magic and monsters to Trion with his wish?"
"Yes, that’s me," the man replied, his face expressionless.
Arlon’s anger surged. "How could you do that? Do you know how many have died and will die because of your selfish wish?"
He didn’t even think that the old man in front of him was lying since he knew that that existence didn’t need to lie.
"Hmm... You’re right. But tell me, Arlon, if you kill Asef, what will you wish for?"
Arlon was taken aback by the question. It confirmed that Asef was the final boss, but his anger pushed that thought aside for later.
"My wish? What does that have to do with what you did? Even if I have a selfish wish, it won’t harm unrelated people."
"Ah, come on. I’m just curious. What would you wish for?" Karmel insisted.
"Sigh... I haven’t thought about it, but I’d probably wish to live in Trion. Or maybe something else. I don’t know."
"Hmm, a nice wish. Selfish, but fair if you defeat the last boss. However, if you listen to what I’m about to say, you might reconsider."
"Don’t get me wrong," Karmel added. "You can still use your wish however you want. But you seem decent, so I think you’ll change your mind. Want to hear it?"
Arlon hesitated. Whatever Karmel was about to say couldn’t be good. Still, he felt compelled to listen. If he didn’t, something vital might be at stake in the future.
Before Arlon could answer, Karmel began. "Let me reiterate the history you saw and forgot for you..." Read latest stories on novelbuddy
