I Don’t Want To Reincarnate-Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Shen Youchu was shocked too. She nervously declined. “No need, no need.”
Shen Youchu rejected and just happened to meet Chen Hansheng’s meaningful gaze. She immediately turned away like a frightened deer.
Chen Hansheng could not help but sigh. Shen Youchu’s upbringing was the main reason for her inferiority complex. Even if she knew that she was more beautiful than other girls, it would only add to her psychological burden.
Shen Youchu tried her best to hide in her own little world due to her low self-esteem.
‘Let’s take it slow. As long as her heart can open up even just a tiniest bit, I’m willing to wait as long as needed.’ Chen Hansheng thought to himself.
‘No matter what method is needed to open this gap!’ Chen Hansheng silently thought again.
Although Shen Youchu had her head lowered, she could still feel the other person’s burning gaze on her. She did not know how to respond, so she simply and quietly extended her index finger to push the bowl of rice and shrimp away from her. It was as if she was trying to draw a clear line.
“Ugh, why didn’t the class president peel one for me?”
Hu Linyu teased as she watched the scene unfold.
“Sure,” said Chen Hansheng indifferently.
“Forget it, your heart’s not in it!”
Hu Linyu did not want this kind of courtesy.
Chen Hansheng chuckled and then said with a sigh, “I thought the prettiest girl in class was Shang Yanyan.”
Hu Linyu snorted in disdain.
Suddenly, her expression became serious again. “Not many in our dorm have discovered Youchu’s true appearance. I only noticed it these two days. But this beauty is so introverted and timid. You have to keep it a secret to prevent a bunch of perverts from targeting her.”
“No problem at all. But when you say pervert, can you not stare at me?” said Chen Hansheng unhappily.
“All men are the same. It’s fine as long as you are aware of it.”
Hu Linyu spoke as if she had seen it all.
Chen Hansheng was dumbstruck. These girls who had never been in a relationship always felt as if they had seen through all the men in the world. However, when it came to love, they were like moths to a flame, throwing themselves at their lovers with no apparent regard for themselves. In the end, they were the ones who would get hurt.
As for those women who treated love as drinking water, they would not have such nonsensical thoughts because they clearly knew what they wanted.
When Shen Youchu heard that the conversation between the two involved her, her face turned as red as an apple. She was especially afraid that Chen Hansheng would not leave her alone.
Fortunately, Chen Hansheng quickly changed the topic. “Let’s talk about business.”
“Okay.”
Hu Linyu also wanted to know what Chen Hansheng’s plans were.
“I will step down from the position of class president during my sophomore year. Then, you can take over so that it won’t affect your future plans to join the government. What do you think?”
Hu Linyu thought about it. As long as she could ensure that she was the class president by the time she applied to be a transfer student, nothing else mattered to her. But why did Chen Hansheng want to kindly step down?
“How can you guarantee that you will smoothly hand the position over to me?” asked Hu Linyu.
Just as the two were discussing, Shen Youchu continued to inch the bowl of rice and shrimp further away from her, as if the distance between her and the bowl was directly related to how safe and relaxed she was.
When Chen Hansheng noticed this, he immediately cut off Hu Linyu and turned to ask Shen Youchu, “Why don’t you just eat it? Do you dislike the fact that I peeled it?”
“No, no, I just want to eat the bun.”
Shen Youchu had picked up the half-eaten cold bun and took two mouthfuls.
Shen Youchu’s rejection made Chen Hansheng angry.
“Is the bun so delicious? Let me try it!”
Chen Hansheng suddenly snatched the cold bun from Shen Youchu and stuffed it into his mouth as the latter stared at him in shock.
After swallowing it in two or three bites, Chen Hansheng wiped his mouth like a hooligan and said, “The taste is just so-so.”
“You, you…”
Shen Youchu was so shocked that she didn’t know how to react for a while. And because of that, she did not have time to hide her appearance. She wanted to say something but her mouth remained wordlessly agape.
“You are a hooligan!” It was Hu Linyu who spoke on her behalf.
“What are you talking about? Weren’t we talking about working together?”
Chen Hansheng changed the topic again. He stretched out his index finger and tapped the table lightly.
“I have a way to transfer the class president position to you. In the first semester of university, you can be the secretary and try your best to take on the daily affairs of the class. This will help you gradually build up your rapport with the students and Professor Guo. Then, when I resign in the second year of the university, you should be able to smoothly take over.
“Moreover, being the secretary is already a jumpstart to your civil journey.” Chen Hansheng added.
Although Hu Linyu had not completely thought it through, she was not a fool. “I understand. You want me to take on the responsibility of class president once you’re done with it and run off to do other things by yourself. In the end, you’re the one reaping all the benefits while I have to work hard the entire time.
“How fortunate of me!”
Hu Linyu quickly turned sarcastic.
Chen Hansheng smiled. “Look, everyone will benefit from this. Not just me. I just have the slight advantage of being able to take the first step towards my goal before others. Soon, you will too.”
This sentence sounded like a tongue twister, but there was a philosophy to it when one seriously understood it. “It’s not that I’m not putting in any efforts. You can just deal with the small details and I’ll step in when things become too big to handle.”
“Alright, define what’s small and big then.”
Hu Linyu wanted to make sure that they were on the same page.
“What you can’t solve is a big thing,” said Chen Hansheng confidently.
But his answer only further upset Hu Linyu. Wasn’t he implying that he was better able than her? It was the truth but that didn’t mean that she had to like the truth.
Shen Youchu, on the other hand, was caught up in her own thoughts as a buzz slowly spread throughout her head. First, she didn’t expect Chen Hansheng to eat a steamed bun that she had already bitten in. Didn’t this mean that the two of them just had an indirect kiss? Secondly, he dared to use the position of class president as a bargaining chip to make a deal with Hu Linyu.
She took a look at Hu Linyu and found that her roommate was actually seriously considering this suggestion. Shen Youchu felt that Chen Hansheng was too dangerous to have led Hu Linyu astray.
The ‘dangerous’ Chen Hansheng took advantage of Hu Linyu’s moment of thought and spoke to Shen Youchu again, but this time he was very calm. “Prawns have high protein and are not as greasy as meat. It’s okay for you to eat more.”
Since Shen Youchu was refusing to eat, Chen Hansheng simply picked up a prawn and brought it to her mouth. “Come, I’ll feed you.”
Shen Youchu’s face turned bright red. She tightly shut her mouth and turned her head away to avoid it.
Chen Hansheng grinned and shamelessly said, “I’m just going to keep holding it up to you until you eat it.”
The cafeteria was bustling with people whom they might run into again. Moreover, with Chen Hansheng’s determination and ego, he would probably keep his word.
Tears had already appeared in Shen Youchu’s eyes, but she was worried that other people would see them like this. In the end, she ate the shrimp, though it felt like she was being forced to eat poison.
“What if I don’t agree?” Hu Linyu was still trying to negotiate.
“Then I’ll just have to work harder at most – I’ll take care of the class while doing business. I can also find other partners, but by then, you won’t have a chance at all. The university rarely changes the class presidents,” said Chen Hansheng. “I can help you arrange to be a secretary first. As for whether you’ll do it or not, that’s up to you.”
