I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl-Chapter 140 – Fields of Corpses and the Soldiers’ Trial
Chapter 140: Chapter 140 – Fields of Corpses and the Soldiers’ Trial
The first explosion sounded like thunder cracking through the gray clouds.
The black earth split open. Purple mist burst in all directions. Dead grass and shards of bone scattered through the air as the horde of zombies, led by the Third Zombie King’s elite forces, began to advance. Their formation was precise an open fanged curve aiming to envelop Sylvia’s army from both sides.
High in the sky, Sylvia observed with sharp eyes. She sat atop her zombie dragon gliding slowly, surrounded by swirling deep purple fog like a ghostly curtain. Her gaze swept across the battlefield, not a single detail escaping her. Yet she remained still, unmoving, even as the ground below began to tremble from thousands of pounding feet.
"This battle is not mine," she murmured. "They must learn. And prove they’re worthy to be part of my army."
On the ground, Zark moved first.
The zombie man in a butler’s suit stamped the ground, then shot forward like a black spear. With a clenched fist, he slammed the earth, triggering a circular magic blast that struck the oncoming wave. Dozens of enemy zombies were flung back, some shattered instantly.
"Split formation left and right!" he bellowed. "Spears and shields up front! Mages in the middle! Special units flank wide!"
The orders were executed flawlessly.
Though outnumbered, Sylvia’s army moved with incredible discipline. Composed of Rank 2 and 3 zombies and humans of the same level their spear-line lowered their weapons in unison, forming a deadly wall that impaled any zombie who charged too fast. Behind them, zombie mages chanted in unison, their hand gestures synchronized.
"Sacred Domain!" Sofia whispered.
A circle of light appeared beneath her feet, spreading into a ten-meter wide holy field. Warm light radiated outward, healing minor wounds and amplifying all allied attacks within.
She then leapt into the air, hurling a Radiant Lance into the enemy ranks. The spear of light pierced three zombies in a row, then detonated in a blinding flash. Those too close burned to ash instantly.
"The left flank is collapsing!" shouted a human fighter, slashing two zombies with a massive scythe.
A fast-recon unit of zombies and human warriors flanked the enemy’s wings, leaping among ruins and rubble to hunt down elite zombies sneaking toward the camp’s flanks.
But the enemy had plans of their own.
From the ranks emerged a massive zombie clad in heavy armor and horned helmet. Twice the size of a normal human, its glowing blue eyes burned with malice.
"One of their generals," Zark muttered.
The general raised his colossal axe and slammed it into the ground. A wave of dark energy surged from its cracks, flattening ten of Sylvia’s zombies in a single blow.
Sofia charged in immediately, flanked by two zombie mages and a dual-sword-wielding human. She jumped high, launching two lances of light at the general, then blinked in using Blinding Rift, a short-range teleport that emitted a blinding flash.
But the general blocked with one arm, and a close-quarters battle erupted.
From above, Sylvia watched everything.
"Their formation... is so precise. Not just strength, but strategy too. Like a dark reflection of my own army."
The dragon beneath her growled softly, asking if it should engage.
But Sylvia only shook her head.
"Not yet," she whispered. "Not yet. Let them destroy the enemy. Let them bleed... so they understand that victory is not just power, but resolve."
Another explosion rocked the left flank.
The enemy had breached a weak point. Several of Sylvia’s mages fell instantly, and enemy zombies began to pour deeper into their ranks.
But before chaos could spread, masked zombies emerged from the ruins Sylvia’s Shadow Unit, the silent assassins.
In seconds, they eliminated the intruders, leaving behind blood trails and neatly sliced corpses.
Zark noted the situation quickly and shouted, "Shadow Unit, secure the gap! Mages, eyes to the sky! They’ve got fliers above the fog!"
And sure enough Three flying figures emerged over the Bone Throne’s castle. Their wings were rotting, their claws razor-sharp. Despite decayed bodies, they moved fast.
"If left unchecked, they could devastate the army from above," Sylvia thought.Still, she didn’t move.
Instead, she touched a small magic stone on her left ear, activating a voice link to one of her hidden mages."Time to show off."
A massive explosion erupted in the western sky. A blood-robed zombie appeared in the mist, hurling a complex spell circle into the air.
"Dark Meteor!" A black rock the size of a house hurtled toward the airborne zombies, colliding and unleashing a soundless explosion. Their bodies were torn apart, falling like burning carcasses.
The battle raged on.
Blood and corpses piled upon the blackened ground. Screams, metal clashing, magical blasts, and thickening fog formed a stage of chaos. But amidst it all, Sylvia’s forces held their ground.
Sofia, meanwhile, now faced one of the king’s elite.
She stepped onto the dark ground, her body launching forward like light through mist. Ahead stood a massive zombie general in bone armor, raising his axe high and swinging without hesitation. The wind from his strike shattered ruins behind her.
Sofia dodged to the side in a blur and swung her hand forward.
"Radiant Lance!" The holy spear pierced through the air, striking the general’s chest in a burst of divine light. But he only staggered back half a step. His armor cracked, but it wasn’t enough.
"He’s tougher than mountain stone," Sofia muttered, gripping her glowing staff tighter.
The general roared, charging at her, each step cracking the earth. As his massive axe came down, Sofia activated Blinding Rift.
Zst!
She blinked behind him in a flash of white light, leaving behind a blinding echo. The general snarled and turned clumsily But Sofia was ready. ƒгeewebnovёl_com
"Lumen Spear!"’
A denser, deadlier light spear formed in her hand. She hurled it straight into the gap between two vertebrae on his back.
BRAGH!
It sank deep, triggering a divine eruption inside him. He roared not in pain, but in spiritual agony then lashed out wildly.
Sofia leapt onto his shoulder, spotting injured allies behind. She cast Aurora Heal.
Golden light radiated from her, gently bathing the troops and sealing their wounds. Their morale returned.
"I’m here!" she called.
Ranked zombies and human surged forward, defending the western flank from a wave of small zombies.
Now enraged, the general slammed his axe down, creating a whirl of dark energy that attempted to absorb all holy magic nearby.
But Sofia remained calm.
She summoned Sacred Domain again, generating a radiant field. Pillars of divine light rose from the ground, suppressing the general’s corruption. The dark magic faltered, and her holy aura shielded all within."As long as I stand here..." she stared into the general’s hollow eyes, "...your darkness will not win."
The general charged again faster now. But Sofia had set a trap.
A Radiant Lance struck the ground at his feet, creating a blinding flash. He paused for a fraction.
And that was enough.
Sofia leapt and struck his face with her staff.
CRAK!
Bone shards flew.
The general staggered, swaying.
Before he could recover, Sofia cast one final spell.
"Lumen Spear!" A spear twice as long formed pure white and wreathed in holy fire. A spinning sigil hovered within its core. She hurled it with all her INT.
It pierced his chest, impaled the ground, and exploded into a vertical pillar of divine light Annihilating him from the inside out.
The general disintegrated into dust and broken bones.
Sofia stood firm, her breathing heavy but her eyes glowing.
The surrounding soldiers gave silent cheers, eyes filled with respect.
One Beastkin zombie beat his chest in salute. Several zombie mages bowed slightly.
High above, Sylvia smiled faintly.
"Well done, Sofia. Show the world who you are."
