I Got Reincarnated As The Ntr Protagonist In An Online Game-Chapter 64: Junior
Chapter 64: Junior
Rebecca stood at the edge of the hallway, her gaze fixed on Emma’s retreating figure. Each step Emma took seemed to carry her further into the shadows of the corridor, until finally, she disappeared around the corner. The faint echo of her footsteps gradually faded, leaving behind the hushed hum of the castle walls. Rebecca tilted her head slightly, her lips curving into a small, amused smirk. "Big Sis is so strange," she muttered under her breath, the words laced with both curiosity and fondness.
Susan stepped up beside her, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared at the same empty spot. Her expression shifted between mild amusement and thinly veiled exasperation. "You should forget about her for now, Princess," Susan said, her voice calm but carrying a note of firm practicality. "Let’s go check on your brother."
Rebecca’s face lit up at the mention of Junior, her lingering thoughts about Emma fading in an instant. "Yes, let’s go!" she exclaimed, grabbing Susan’s hand with a burst of energy. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and despite herself, Susan allowed a faint smile as she followed the princess down the hall.
The door to Junior’s room creaked softly as Rebecca pushed it open, her small hands careful not to make a sound. The room was cloaked in dim light, the curtains drawn tightly shut, leaving only a soft glow filtering through the edges. The faint scent of lavender mingled with a subtle, warmer fragrance, adding to the serene atmosphere. Junior lay sprawled on the bed, his chest rising and falling in steady rhythm, one arm lazily draped across his torso.
Rebecca crept toward the bed, her steps exaggerated and almost theatrical as if she feared waking a slumbering beast instead of her brother. She perched on the edge of the mattress, leaning forward to study his face, her eyes filled with affection and quiet relief. freewebnσvel.cøm
"Brother," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath. "I’m glad you’re okay."
Junior stirred slightly, his brow furrowing for a brief moment before smoothing out again. He didn’t wake, and Rebecca took the opportunity to reach out, brushing a stray strand of hair from his forehead. Her small fingers lingered, tracing the faint lines of his features with a tenderness only a younger sibling could offer.
"He looks so peaceful," Rebecca murmured, turning her head toward Susan, who stood by the door with her arms crossed. Susan appeared indifferent, but her eyes betrayed a flicker of warmth as she watched the scene.
"Peaceful, yes," Susan replied with a raised eyebrow. "Though I doubt he’ll stay that way once he wakes up and remembers what happened last night."
Rebecca’s curiosity immediately flared. She turned back to Junior, her expression eager. "What do you mean? What happened last night?"
Susan hesitated, her lips pressing into a thin line. "Nothing you need to worry about, Princess," she said, her tone carefully neutral. "Just... grown-up things."
Rebecca frowned, clearly unsatisfied with the vague explanation. She tilted her head, staring at Junior as if willing him to wake up and spill the secrets Susan wouldn’t share. "Grown-up things," she repeated softly. Then, as if a light bulb went off in her mind, she added, "Like... kissing?"
Susan let out an involuntary laugh, quickly covering her mouth to stifle the sound. "Something like that," she managed, her cheeks tinged with a faint pink. "Now, come on, Princess. Let’s leave your brother to rest. He’s had quite the... eventful night."
But Rebecca wasn’t ready to leave just yet. She leaned closer to Junior, lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Brother, if you can hear me, don’t worry. Big Sis Emma is taking good care of you. And me too! She says I’m cute, and she’s going to be my big sister soon. Isn’t that great?"
From her spot near the door, Susan rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath, "Great isn’t the word I’d use."
Rebecca ignored the comment, too absorbed in her one-sided conversation. "And don’t worry about Susan," she continued, her tone filled with earnest conviction. "She’s just grumpy because Big Sis Emma is really nice, and she thinks I shouldn’t get too attached. But I think she’s wrong. Don’t you think so, Brother?"
Junior’s eyelashes fluttered faintly, and Rebecca’s breath hitched, thinking he might wake up. But his breathing steadied, and he remained deeply asleep. Rebecca sighed in resignation, leaning back against the bedpost. "Oh well. I guess we’ll talk more later."
Sliding off the bed, she smoothed the creases in her dress and turned toward the door. Susan held it open, her expression a mix of impatience and fondness. "Come along, Princess. We’ve bothered your brother enough for one morning."
Rebecca cast one last glance at Junior’s sleeping form, her voice soft as she said, "Goodnight, Brother." Then, with a skip in her step, she followed Susan into the hallway, her thoughts already drifting back to Emma.
As the two walked, their footsteps echoed gently against the stone floors. Rebecca suddenly stopped and turned to Susan, her expression pensive. "Do you think... Do you think Brother will be happy with Big Sis Emma?"
Susan paused, her lips pressing into a thoughtful line. For all her reservations about Emma, she couldn’t deny the way Junior looked at her—as though she were the center of his world. "If anyone can make your brother happy, it’s probably her," she admitted, though her tone was begrudging.
Rebecca’s face lit up with a wide grin, and she skipped ahead, humming a cheerful tune. Susan followed, shaking her head with a quiet smile. Life in the castle was far from dull with Rebecca around, and with Emma’s presence stirring things up, it promised to become even more unpredictable.
