I Got Reincarnated As The Ntr Protagonist In An Online Game-Chapter 65: David
Chapter 65: David
Rebecca’s cheerful humming abruptly ceased as Susan’s sudden silence caught her attention. The shift was so sharp that Rebecca blinked in confusion. "Susan? What’s wrong?" she asked, her voice tentative.
Susan didn’t respond immediately, her eyes fixed ahead with a guarded expression. Her lips pressed into a thin line, and she gently tugged on Rebecca’s arm to guide her aside. Rebecca, puzzled by the change in Susan’s demeanor, tilted her head and glanced in the same direction.
That’s when she saw him.
At the far end of the hallway, David appeared. His figure was rigid, his steps fast and aggressive as he approached. His lips moved as though he were muttering to himself, but the words were drowned in the silence of the corridor. His face was a storm of grief and anger, his dark eyes burning with an intensity that made Rebecca’s heart sink.
Rebecca’s earlier cheer vanished, replaced by a chill that ran down her spine. She stopped walking, her feet rooted to the spot as fear clouded her expression. Her hands trembled slightly, and her breathing grew shallow. freёweɓnovel_com
Susan noticed the change in Rebecca’s mood and bent down to meet her gaze. "Rebecca, what’s wrong?" she asked softly, concern etching lines across her face. But when she followed Rebecca’s wide-eyed stare, she froze, and her expression darkened.
"It’s him," Rebecca whispered, her voice quivering.
Susan’s eyes narrowed as she saw David storming toward them. Her shoulders tensed protectively, and she stepped closer to Rebecca, placing a steadying hand on her shoulder.
David finally reached them, his presence radiating hostility. He made no effort to acknowledge them, his focus fixed ahead. As he walked past Rebecca, she summoned all her courage and spoke, her voice low and uncertain. "Brother... When did you come back?"
David stopped abruptly at the sound of her voice. Slowly, he turned his head to look at her, his dark eyes narrowing with disgust. The weight of his glare was suffocating, and Rebecca instinctively stepped back, clutching the folds of her dress.
"What does that have to do with you?" he snapped, his tone sharp and dripping with irritation.
Rebecca lowered her gaze, her fear evident in her trembling voice. "I... I’m sorry, Brother."
David scoffed at her apology, his lips curling into a sneer. "Sorry?" he repeated mockingly. "You think your pathetic apologies mean anything to me? You’re nothing, Rebecca. Always have been. Always will be."
Rebecca flinched at his words, but before she could respond, David raised his hand, his face twisted with rage. The motion was so sudden that Rebecca froze, her eyes wide with terror.
Susan didn’t hesitate. She stepped between them, her arms outstretched to shield Rebecca. Her voice was firm and respectful, though her eyes blazed with defiance. "Your Highness, please! Forgive your sister. She meant no harm."
David paused, his hand hovering mid-air. His gaze shifted to Susan, and his sneer deepened. "You’re bold, Susan," he said coldly. "Interfering where you shouldn’t."
"I’m only protecting the Princess, as is my duty," Susan replied evenly, though there was a slight tremor in her voice.
David scoffed again and lowered his hand, his expression one of disgust. "You’re lucky," he spat, directing his words at Rebecca. "If it were up to me, you wouldn’t even be breathing the same air as me."
Rebecca’s throat tightened, and she looked down, unable to meet his hateful gaze. David turned on his heel and began to walk away, his footsteps echoing in the tense silence. As he disappeared down the corridor, he muttered loud enough for them to hear, "Stay out of my way, Rebecca. If you value your miserable life."
Susan waited until he was out of sight before she exhaled, her shoulders relaxing slightly. She turned to Rebecca, whose eyes were glistening with unshed tears. Without hesitation, Susan pulled her into a comforting embrace.
"Don’t worry," Susan murmured, her voice soothing. "Let’s get you back to your room. You’re safe now."
Rebecca clung to Susan, her small frame trembling. "Why does he hate me so much?" she whispered, her voice breaking. "I never did anything to him."
Susan pulled back slightly to meet Rebecca’s eyes, her expression soft yet determined. "It’s not about what you’ve done, Princess. It’s about what you represent. To him, you’re a threat. But that doesn’t mean you deserve this."
Rebecca nodded slowly, though the fear and sadness lingered in her eyes. Susan gently guided her down the hallway, keeping an arm wrapped protectively around her.
Rebecca’s small hands pushed open the door to her room, and she stepped inside with Susan following close behind. The space was warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the tension that had gripped her moments ago. A soft breeze from the half-open window ruffled the curtains, and the faint scent of lavender filled the air, though it did little to ease Rebecca’s trembling.
Susan closed the door behind them and immediately guided Rebecca to sit on the plush chair near the fireplace. She knelt beside her, brushing a stray strand of hair from the young princess’s face. "Are you all right, Princess?" she asked gently.
Rebecca nodded weakly, though her expression betrayed her lingering fear. "I didn’t mean to upset him," she whispered. "I just wanted to... talk."
Susan’s face softened, and she took Rebecca’s hand in hers. "David’s anger isn’t your fault," she said firmly. "He’s always been like this, hasn’t he? Hating you for something you can’t control."
Rebecca looked down, her fingers playing nervously with the hem of her dress. "But why does he hate me so much, Susan? Is it really just because of the throne?"
Susan hesitated, her expression conflicted. She knew the answer, but it wasn’t one she wanted to share. Instead, she chose her words carefully. "Power makes people do terrible things, Princess. Even family. But you’re not alone in this. Junior cares for you, and so do I."
Rebecca smiled faintly at the mention of Junior, her heart warming slightly. "Thank you, Susan," she murmured. "I don’t know what I’d do without you."
Susan squeezed her hand reassuringly. "You don’t have to face this alone, Rebecca. Remember that."
"Thank you Susan " cried out Rebecca
