Chapter 68: Unexpected Guests

In the morning Odelia came out of her room after taking a shower to prepare breakfast. She yawned softly because she had been up all night with Sean.

After they were tired of making love and intended to sleep, Carmelia woke up shortly after so Odelia and Sean skipped sleep and took care of baby Carmelia.

"Mnn... Alright, time to make breakfast for this morning," she muttered and started cooking.

However, it wasn’t long before Megan came into the kitchen when it was still 5:43am.

"Morning Odelia," she greeted and made coffee into the coffee machine.

"Oh morning Megan, you look very sleepy," said a worried Odelia.

"Yes, I have to make a decoration design for one of my clients," Megan replied and poured coffee into a glass and sat down on the dining table chair.

She yawned and then sipped her coffee, saying that she was also having trouble concentrating because of the moaning love sounds that had been heard all night which made it a little difficult.

Odelia’s face turned red as soon as she heard Megan’s remark about the moaning sound last night being her voice.

"The louder the moaning, the more it slaps me that I’m a single woman living with a married couple. Ahahaha..." Megan laughed sadly as she took another sip of her coffee.

She really wanted to date or have a partner. But for some reason it was very difficult for her to find a partner. She felt like the stereotype that people said she was.

"Women who are beautiful, successful in their careers and have a perfect life. It would be hard to find a partner, especially if they have standards for it."

"I-I’m sorry, Megan. I didn’t mean to bother you. It’s just that Sean and I last night..."

"No need to apologize," said Sean who walked in while holding Carmelia in his arms. "It’s your fault that you don’t have a partner. Find yourself a partner, you’re 32 years old. I’m worried about your future."

Megan’s face pouted and she refilled her coffee. Complaining that all the men she dated would not get Sean’s blessing. That’s why she had given up on getting a partner until now.

This made Odelia confused, why Sean had not approved of Megan’s previous lovers.

"I always check their backgrounds on my own and most of them are just gold diggers or casanova men who want to take advantage of Megan. Do you think I’d let my little sister date them?" asked Sean as he gave Megan a sharp glance.

"But they’re nice to me..."

"Don’t just look at their nature, Megan. If what Sean says is true, it’s very bad for you. I know I’m much younger than you, but as your sister-in-law you should be careful. You’re beautiful, smart and talented. Don’t let your life be ruined with men like them," said a worried Odelia.

She sighed then nodded her head. Odelia smiled and continued cooking while Sean patted Carmelia on the back.

"Does Sam already have a partner?" she asked suddenly.

Reflexively Odelia and Sean immediately turned to her. Because Megan unexpectedly asked this question. Of course they were both surprised when they heard it.

"Hey, just because I said to look for a man who is not careless, doesn’t mean you asked about Sam," said Sean.

"I’m just asking, is that wrong? I didn’t say I was going to date him anyway!"

Answering Megan’s question, Odelia herself did not know whether her younger brother had a girlfriend or not. She thought it was Samuel’s privacy and she would just wait until he told her himself.

"Why don’t you try asking him yourself? He’ll definitely answer if you ask him," she said.

"I have my doubts about that."

They then had breakfast as usual, Sean helping Odelia to eat while she nursed Carmelia. Megan who was there became very jealous because she also wanted to have a partner.

’It seems wrong for me to continue living with them. I need to find my own home. But that means I have to be away from Carmelia,’ she thought, not wanting to be away from her cute niece. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

In the afternoon, they planned to go out together for some fresh air. Since it was Sunday, they wanted to make good use of the day. Especially after the unfortunate incident that had happened, Sean wanted them to release the tension.

"Sean, can you hold Carmelia for a moment? I want to change my clothes," Odelia said, asking him for help.

"Sure, I’ll take care of her while you change," he replied and picked her up.

He held Carmelia again and noticed that his daughter’s face was looking even more beautiful now that she was one month old. Sean realized that Carmelia’s face was very similar to the little Odelia he had seen pictures of.

"You’re very beautiful, Carmelia. I’m so happy to see you," Sean said, kissing his daughter on the forehead.

Carmelia’s eyes were closed as her father kissed her, her tiny hands reaching for both cheeks as if to hold them. But her grip was not strong enough to hug his face.

She was smiling as she felt her father’s affection, every time Sean came home from work, Carmelia would feel her father’s warmth. She nuzzled into his chest, feeling happy to be near her father.

"My cute little daughter, if only your grandparents were here, they would be so happy to see you," he said holding her tiny hand.

But, Sean thought again that if his parents were still alive, it meant that his late fiancée and the baby were still alive. Carmelia wouldn’t have been born, nor would he and Odelia have been able to be together as they are today.

Their deaths made Sean realize how precious his family was and that’s what made him who he is today. He no longer wants to waste his time on work and prioritizes his family.

"Something good always comes after great pain and sacrifice. I was very sorry about all this at first, but now I’ve learned from my mistakes and I won’t repeat them again," he murmured as he kissed Carmelia’s cheek.

"Someday I will teach you what is most valuable for your life. You must choose wisely at the right time and under the right circumstances. You will grow up to choose your own future but I will continue to guide you."

While he was waiting for Odelia, there was a knock at the door. Before long, he could hear a man’s voice from there.

"Mr. Sean, a middle-aged woman and her daughter insist on seeing you and Mrs. Osbert," he reported.

"Middle-aged woman and her daughter?" asked Sean and then gave Carmelia to Odelia who had just finished.

"Yes, sir. They said they had something important to talk about and that they were from the Percy family," his men replied again.

Sean and Odelia immediately exchanged glances and knew who was meant. But what did the two women want to say?

"Let them in."
